Before AZ I used to only think about where I was gonna play that day and what I could do to hone my skills.

Now...............I'm.......

1. I'm sweating pool matches that are happening all over the world through the streaming section - Thanks TAR, Fast Lenny, InsidePool, Samiel, Dagwoodz and many others!

2. Concerned about ailing pool players in different parts of the country - Smorgass Bored of course has become a good friend that many of us are praying for, Scott Frost - Now added to my prayer list along with Eddie Abrahms and his Dad who is fighting cancer, Skor, who lost his mom a couple of weeks ago and others

3. Debating the procedure of a calcutta in a $40 tournament in Illinois - The Jeanette Lee thread

4. Researching what happened in a $40 airbarrel in Texas - 2 of my buddies, Sang & Bonnie

5. Betting with People in other countries on pool matches in other states - That Damn Roy Steffenson got me! LOL Had fun buddy!

6. becoming friends with Pool peeps from all over - This is a long list. You know who you are! Glad I know you!

7. Running tournaments with people mostly from the forum - Thanks to everyone who has made the Waco events a blast over the years.

8. Making business deals with people I would've never met - Again numerous people and I would like to thank everyone who decided to do business with Bigtruck

There's probably more.......

The forum has really changed MY pool world! What has it changed in yours??

Crazy!!

I never would have gotten to post a response on this thread!
I agree with the distance that friendships made on AZ seem to cover, and the fun that always seems to come from having AZers meetup around the globe.
Getting to work on tables for members, playing and watching/sweating matches, seeing the great cues and tables pictured on here....
Life is good in AZland!

Nice post, Ray. Joining AZB is like moving into a new neighborhood, but with advance knowledge that you'll have a lot in common with others who already live there.

Whether it's camaraderie, information, opinions, or advice that you offer or seek, if recreational, league, or pro pool is your thing, AZB will deliver the goods.

Glad to hear it has been such a unique and fulfilling experience for you. My experience has been just as positive, and now that I've met a few hundred members, AZB definitely feels like family.

AZ gives me the chance to improve my game by asking questions and getting such a wide array of answers... It's a beautiful thing :)

Don't forget - talking crazy folks from all over the country to fly 1/2 way across the country to buy a pool table from you!!

Its enjoyable to hear :all the different stories, situations, information regarding certain cues, players, tournaments....... the list goes on

Lot's of things and the one I didn't meet on AZB

Ray,

Meeting you, JoeyA, TD873, RandyG, Jaden, Sofaking, Cajunbarboxplayer, and a handful more definitely wouldn't have happened. Joey and Jamie became local friends and I consider several more longer distance friends. I have talked to several more posters on the phone or by e-mails and would have never found the ever entertaining OMGWTF without this forum. Terry Ardano is even more fun in personal conversations than he is on the forum too.

There are many more whom I much enjoy their posts and respect greatly that I haven't had much personal correspondence with but feel I know from the constant back and forth on the forum. Also some great guys that usually hang out on the cue makers forums that are always willing to help any way they can.

Finally, one of my favorite long distance friends is a member here that only lurks. I met Joe Villalpando when he called me after reading my posts on here. We seem to be on the exact same wavelength. I was only minutes from reaching for the phone several times when he called me including yesterday. His knowledge and down to earth manner conveying it is outstanding. Aside from that it is pure pleasure to talk to him about this and that for an hour or so.

One more had to be added behind "finally" when my memory was jarred speaking of phone conversations. Hal Houle wasn't in the mood to talk about systems when I called him and I still spent about three of the most pleasant hours I have ever spent on the phone listening to him talk about old time players and the things they did. He is an absolute treasure for the pool world.

Seemingly dozens of things and people I have left out, I owe BlackJack for several things for just one example, but yes AZB has had a slight impact on my life! :D :D :D

My game is "up"....WAY up the last few weeks imo.

I attribute a lot of that to this site...staying involved, discussing the shots\situations,strokes,drills,stance ect.

Plus watching the pros get it right online all the time can't hurt lol.

Well......

I WAS addicted to pool..................

NOW, I'm addicted to pool AND AZB...........

That's a change

:help: :help: :help:

Finding AZ about 5 months ago motivated me to get buy a new cue so I could go out and play while sending my 17 year old cue to get refinished.

I joined a league and have made many friends when I had lived in this town for about 2 years and hadn't gotten to know anyone.

I was getting rather lethargic and not getting out of the house at all. Now I play 4 times a week, have lost weight, am happier and have something to look forward to other than paying bills.

AZ was the first step, because it got my pool brain working again and now I am playing as well as I ever did before I quit when I moved to this town.

Thanks Carlos,

I really enjoyed my time in AZ. You are such a lucky man. Your whole family was a blast!

I hope you are still enjoying the table!

Hope to see you soon!

I've broadened my horizons a thousand fold since first starting participating in the forums...(first started out on the CCB, then migrated over here). Alot of it has to do with a large reason I enjoy being around this game so much and that is the stories and the people. I'm a sucker for a well told story, and IMHO, there are no better story tellers, (fact or fictional...usually a bit of both), than pool players. So when I'm not listening to an old timer relate his story to us young'uns in the PH, I can come on here and read some of the stories posted on here by some of the more venerable members. (JoeyA, Terry Ardeno, Jay Helfert, Vagabond, and too many more to mention)

I've also immensly enjoyed meeting fellow AZ'rs. This has been a great vehicle for me to become more active my chosen hobby, by being able to network much more effectively and widespread. To all of the AZ'rs who I've met over the past 4 years, it has truly been a pleasure, and for those whom I have not met yet...soon enough. ;)

Nice Thread (rep!). Had it not been for AZ, I would have never known anyone existed who thought they were a truck.....and a big one at that--go figure.

I agree, this forum is the best and I have met alot of good people on here. You wont find an many people behind something that are as standup and supportive of pool such as Mike Howerton and Jerry Forsyth.

Good point about the family SJM.

AZ is definitely a great conduit for many things. I love the way they are continuously looking for ways to improve. Much like an aspiring pool player.

Thanks for the kind words.
