Lee,

My cue repair trailer and bench are working great! Your lathes are doing the job nicely and I am making quite the impact here in Iowa.

Notice the drawers and sand paper slots.

the setup looks great you did a first class job with the trailer hope all goes well thanks for sharing with everyone...lee

Wow...that's a really nice setup...the only thing missing is a pool table. :).

Regards,
Duc.

I really like the way you put two lathes into the space one would normally go into. That is a very good use of space. I have done something similar to display them at shows, but never really set them up permanently that way.

Very nice setup. Your idea with the downdraft table just made me realize what to do with mine. Mine stands behind the lathe and makes it tough to reach everything around it. Thanks for the idea.
You interior decorating is awesome also:thumbup:

I have one suggestion to make. If you will be staying overnite in a hotel or motel while doing tournys, I would suggest a 12volt DC operated camera and DVR on the rear of your vehicle just incase an unfortunate happening of theft. It happened to a fellow AZ'er I believe last year and he lost the whole trailer and the contents of it. It may prove helpful in retrieving your property if it were to happen. Here is a link to a DVR that would work, http://www.surveillance-spy-cameras.com/12-volt-dvr.htm

You'll just need to get a nightvision camera like this one:
http://www.closeoutcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CL-34S
You would just tap into the 12vdc power of your vehicle instead of using the 12 wall adaptor.
I have used these cameras quite a lot in my line of work, and they work awesome for the money. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks Dave for your suggestion. I have thought of that but haven't researched the camera and security system yet. I have been supporting local tournys only not requiring me to stay the night but that will probably change.

David-
This looks fantastic, great job! I was just talking to a few people a week ago about doing something similar!

I agree with Chris, the dual lathe in one area is very creative and effective- very efficient!

I do have a couple questions:
1) Lighting- do you have overhead lighting or is that the sun shining thru?
2) I see a humidifier, do you have any heat/ac units installed?

Thanks and I'm looking forward to seeing more photos on your website!

Zim,

1) Lighting: I installed track lighting and the roof is translucent which lets a lot of light in during the day. In fact, you don't have to turn the track lighting on during the day. I also had the basic trailer built to my specs including having 12" of additional height from standard to the 14' long box to make it more comfortable to stand in.

2) What you think is a humidifier is actually an air conditioner. It's not much but it takes the edge off on a hot day. I have a propane heater for the winter which I have not installed yet.

All you need now is a toilet, an lcd flatpanel, and a small fridge for the Sunday football games:D

LOL Dave! I really don't need a fridge since most tourneys have a bar and bathroom. However, I do have a monitor with 5.1 surround sound!

Have you set up at many events already? What are the players saying are pros/cons of you being outside vs inside the pool room? Any issues with the players coming out for repairs, do you stay out there the entire time, have to lock up everytime you have to go inside?

Just inquiring! Thanks for sharing,
Zim

The only tourneys I've been to so far have been the local APA masters tourneys, both, 8 ball and 9 ball this past spring. The players only have good things to say about my being their since nobody has ever supported the tourneys locally. I also have brought the quality of shaft cleaning, sealing, and waxing to a whole new level as compared to the limited choices players have here in town (I don't use wax paper like one local pool hall does).

The fact of the matter is I am the ONLY cue repair service here in town that, in most cases, will do the work while they wait. My competition consists of two pool table stores (one is Muellers) which send the cues out to be repaired (taking as much as 3 weeks to get your cue back) and one pool hall that has their own lathe for repairs and only work on cues typically on weekends.

Many of the local tourneys here have limited space which would make it difficult to perform my services indoors. The trailer allows me to set up and break down within minutes. Since I'm outside, I get all the smokers hanging around my trailer watching me work. I guess I am free entertainment for them.

Weather was an issue at one tourney; however, I was amazed by the number of people that wanted their cues cleaned. All I had to do was walk through the tourney and people would hand me their cues. I would stay in my trailer as long as I had work to do; otherwise, I would go get the work. Yes, I would lock up the trailer whenever I leave it since I have thousands worth of cues in my trailer. My generator and dust collection systems are cable locked to the frame of my trailer. I would simply lift my tail gate and lock it including the side door.
