Thanks Tar

What time is it?

I just wanted to take the time to first thank TAR (www.theactionreport.com) for the Young Guns Challenge held this past weekend. I don't think people realize that amount of work that goes into one of these events. I alone must have had a dozen emails & phone conversations with Justin to get the dates & format arranged. Chad & Justin really do a thankless job and aren't paid nearly enough for their time. Chad told me he has sacrificed his car (taking the seats out to fit all the TAR equipment in) & his job for pool. Justin is spending his days asking questions from the public on the PPV. You wouldn't believe the questions people ask & how they completely ignore the FAQ that Justin has setup to make things easy for people to watch pool in their own home. These guys are the future of pool & need everyone's support. They have mine for life.

Dan Tull - You couldn't ask for a better host. He built a stage for the TAR booth. Moved tables around, put up 3 sets up bleachers, curtains - it was a true first class atmosphere. I had made up some free T shirts to give out to the pool fans & just wanted Dan to be aware that I was going to bring them in to give away. His response was that he didn't care if I sold them. I didn't want to sell them but that shows what type of a guy he is - he wasn't concerned if someone was trying to make a buck and promoting pool in his room. JCIN has Bergman & Morra sign the cueball in use during the match. I saw JCIN try to pay for the cueball but Dan would not have it. Just another small token but shows you Dan Tull is a great guy.

John Morra - For an 18 year old, he has a great professional attitude about the game. This 'kid' is so nice & polite it is refreshing. Go to the DCC and see how most of the under 21 year old crowd act & it is almost deplorable. Not John Morra. Someone raised this man right & he knows how to act. I am sure he wasn't satisfied with his play but rarely ever showed it & kept getting out of the chair to accept the challenge. Afterwards he shook hands and said nice shooting. No ill will. I would 'go in' with John Morra anytime.

Lastly, Justin Bergman - Thanks for putting on a great show & being a great friend as well (along with helping to fill my pockets). Obviously, there is a big age difference and skill level between Justin & myself but that has never been a factor in our friendship. There are few pool players you can truly trust & Justin is one of them. Justin is always above board & even shys away from playing some players because he doesn't want people to even think that there could be business. He really wanted to show the pool world how he can play & he is happy that many now know his true skill. Hopefully others will want to step up & challenge this young champion.

To anyone that had a piece of the Young Gun Justin Bergman corporation, I hope you enjoyed the past weekend as much as I did. I am sure you did.

See everyone in Vegas. Make sure you come up and say hello.

Good to see you down there watchez. Bergman put on a show for everyone.

Shout out to everyone that bought the ppv or showed up at Shooters to watch!

Thank you all for a great weekend. I hope John Morra comes away from this with a positive productive experience. He is a great role model. Too bad somebody's got to lose. Everybodys got to lose sometime. Its how we walk away from the table.

The whole TAR crew owes Watchez a special thank you. He started the whole thing and every step of the way he backed his words up by actions. No BS just doing what he said he would. It was a great experience working with him and I hope we will do more exciting things in the future.

Watchez is dead on in his statements on Justin, John and Dan. They and those like them are the true heart of this game I am glad we were able to let some people get to know them a little better.

We cant thank the players and Dan Tull and his whole crew at Shooters enough. Working with Justin and John was the nuts. Both guys carried themselves on and off the table as professionals at all times and were very friendly to all the fans who wanted an autograph or just to say hi. Things are tough in the pro pool world in the US right now but with players like Justin and John in the game it gives me hope for the future. These are the type of players pro pool MUST have to survive and grow.

Thanks to all who bought in to the Pay Per View and came to Shooters to watch. These events are becoming almost like a gathering of the tribe where we get to see friends old and new, virtual and in person. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for us to do this.

I want to say one thing about John Morra and give 2 examples of why this young man impresses me more everytime I am fortunate enough to be around him. During the last day of the match the guys had been playing for a good while and John was still 20 something games stuck. He took a quick break and came back with a bag of peanuts. I walked over and told him we could take a break to eat if he wanted. He said, with a little fire in his eyes " No thanks. Can we keep playing? I am feeling good right now." He said this down 20+ games with a major part of his own bankroll on the line. I walked over to Justin and asked him if he wanted a break. Some guys would take this as an opportunity to ice the guy they have on the ropes. Justin just said " I am good. Lets play". Class.

After the match was over John and Justin posed for some pictures. When we were all walking away from the table one of the waitresses walked up and asked Justin if he wanted to go eat with them. I don't remember what he said because what John said next hit me so hard. John looks at the waitress as she is walking away then looks at Justin with a look on his face much older and wiser than his 18 years and says "That is what happens when you win. You get the money and the women." I laughed but the resigned but firm way in which he said it really hit home with me. Amazing young man.

Watchez.....

It was a priviledge to watch your dream come to frutition last weekend. I feel bad that I never got the time to sit down with you on friday night....but it seemed like we were both goin different directions everytime I had a chance...and then they kept trapping me on the ball counter.

Congrats to Justin.....it was good to see the fire in his eyes and voice come out on the table.

Keep up the good work TAR!!!!!
