The AZ Room @ The Derby City Classic

Of course I'm in

Of course I'm in, and I'll be there. Now what the hell do I have to do and pay?
I'll drag Artie Bodendorfer in there and whoever else you might want to see.

Freddy - Glad to hear your "IN". We (Williebetmore & I) are still in the initial stages of putting this idea together. I have talked to Mike (here @AZ), Steve @ OP.org & Greg Diamond. All seem to like this idea.
Depending on where your room is located, this will be a great place to "Hang Your Hat" and relax. It will also be nice to meet & greet the members who we have been communicating with for so long.
I am thinking there may be some serious games played in this room as long as they are races and don't tie up the table for too long. But I for one would rather see you or Artie play some serious One Pocket than someone get up and shoot trick shots or just knock around some balls.

As far as the money -
We are still getting commitments from both forums and I purpose that we wait until all the responses come in and then figure out how many will commit. We then divide that number into the $1,000 and that will be the cost to everyone. I'm thinking of the cut-off date being Christmas Day. I really think there will be quite a few that don't sign up but will want to join the room after they get there. We can use the extra funds to supply the room with snacks & beverages. I am hoping that Mike & Steve might supply us with some Name Tag Badges to identify ourselves and maybe some banners to identify the room.
As far as where to send the money - I don't know yet. Maybe Williebetmore can handle that. Hell, he's a Doctor & I'm an old, dirty, rotten, no good, low down Pool Hustler - SO - Even I trust him more than me.
I hate to bring up any negatives - BUT - There will have to be someone "In Charge" at all times this room is open. Greg said we will have a key and to take care of it. I don't know yet if housekeeping is going to come in daily or not yet but I would expect they would. This is my once a year Vacation (without the wife & kids) and I DON'T INTEND TO BABYSIT THIS ROOM. I suggest that the key is left at the front desk and signed out by members only. It could be passed from one to another as long as it is recorded (on a blackboard) or legal pad in the private room.
As I've said - This is all just coming together so there is nothing written in stone. I think this will be great and add a lot to the DCC experience for many.

Thanks Again, Freddy

Ps. - I just spoke with Mike Maloney (semperfi) who has a Cue & Case booth just down the hall from our room. He said he will be happy to Hold The Key and give it out to members. - Thanks, Mike

To help promote the room, I will preview my next book there. It, along with instructional diagrams and new systems will be available for sampling for the AZ and Onepocket.org people in our room only. Let's make this room the "in" place to be, at the tourney. I'll get Artie Bodendorfer to demonstate the new eight ball game he recently trademarked. I also have a new straight pool game that I am going to copyright and trademark. It's a dilly. It's amazing no one has ever thought of it before.

I will be there for the whole event & I'm willing to donate some to this worthy cause.

OHB,
Sounds good. I'll be gone until next Tuesday. If no one else has volunteered to collect money by then I'll do it.

Perhaps we could give Mike M. a list of all the donators, then only they can sign out the key. The signer could be in charge of the room (and table) until he turns in the key.

We could have a blackboard where a schedule of pro appearances could be listed ahead of time (if known), so people will know when to come, and when not to play.

Just some thoughts.

Just a thought...

The best way to get pros in the room without paying them would probably be to get a Hold 'Em game going. :p

Count me in

We can get a private room with a 4½ X 9 in the main hall across from where they sell sticks 'n stuff. This would be a great place for AZers to meet & greet and relax while waiting to play Efren in the finals.
The cost for this room is $1,000 - SO
Anyone interested, Please respond to this post.
The cost will be devided between those who respond.

Count me in. I wrote THE EIGHT BALL BIBLE and might offer some 8-ball advice if anyone is interested.

Hello,

I will be there the first weekend only, Fri - Sun with Timberly. I would like to pitch in whatever the divided cost is. I also very much like the idea of maybe only contributing azb's or 1pocket.org people having access to the key possibly. I think those that give should have some special preference is some sort of way with the room. Some sort of catered small snacks or drinks would be nice if we got alot of contributers also.

Maybe wristbands might be a way of screening out the riff raff:p

Actually, that works ok for the Inside Pool parties at Valley Forge...

No problem....

I'll be there a few days and would help out - sounds fun, it'll be nice to put names with the faces.

OHB,

I'd really like to see some food and drink in that room...it'd be great to have meals or snacks in there. Also, there must be a control system for people signing out keys...I know you've tried looking for responsible members but I think that allowing just about any member to sign out the key could be potentially disastrous just in case anything goes wrong...that or people should not be encouraged to "hang their hats" or leave their cues lyin in there.

Regardless, I'm DAMN lookin forward to this thing...I will be there the last Wed-Sat.

Willie,
I think if each person that donates were to be sent an email of confirmation, the printed email could serve as a pass. I think the email should have the holder's name on it. The emails should all be sent from the same account. Then when the donor arrives, he can exchange the email for a wrist band.

I'm in for whatever you need. Will be great to meet more AZers. Can we get 2 tables? One for 1p so it isn't tied up the whole time and the other for ring games, challenges, demos, etc.?

Thats the best idea you've had so far!

Tracy - Thats a great idea. I'll pass it along to Williebetmore when he gets back Tues.
As far as having the room keys keyed to open the AZ-OP Room, I don't think they can do that AND I don't like that idea at all. Mike Malloney (semperfi) has no problem giving out the key. His booth is very close and I'm sure he will kind of keep an eye on it. I wouldn't suggest ANYONE EVER leave their cue laying around anyplace at the DCC.
Williebetmore told me today that he will start collecting the money pledged when he returns Tues.

Thanks, Tom

I'd like to join in as well. A simple sticker attached to our DCC ID would probably work well and keep it simple. Sounds like there's a good number of people willing to pony up...that will help spread the cost out.
