I will get my designer working on the 1P logo on Monday. I will send you the layout in a PM as soon as it is finished for approval. If you guys have any changes that u want to make PM me and let me know. Do you have any specs for the room yet? To make the celeb's signing the banner feasible, I think a room with with some distance between itself and the one beside it would be appropriate . Therefore we could install the banner at eye level, allowing the celebs to sign it.

I'll call the manager this week and see about a dry erase/chalk board - and hell, maybe an ice tray/bin like they have on buffet's.

Could you call Greg Sullivan and tell him we have $1200 pledged so far??? Make sure he doesn't give away our room.

Linda Carter and Mike Zimmerman have offered to play an hour of challenges apiece. Sarah Rousey also on board for an hour of challenges.

This should be good for people that would like the opportunity to see how their game stacks up with the pro's. Are we thinking that the games will be free, optional small stakes, or mandatory small stakes?? Should they be single games; or race to 2??? How about a one-pocket challenge if we get one of the one-pocket specialists to play for an hour??

I don't know how this should be structured. Any bright ideas out there????

Are we thinking that the games will be free, optional small stakes, or mandatory small stakes?? Should they be single games; or race to 2??? How about a one-pocket challenge if we get one of the one-pocket specialists to play for an hour??

Greg just told me he is going to check out the room with Mike Maloney (SemperFi) this week. He knows we already have the money pledged and are just collecting it. The room is the one Steve @ OnePocket.org had last year. For all the things we have planned, I really hope we can get the adjoining room. That is another thing Greg & Mike Maloney will be checking out. If Greg can get for no cost, he will. If not, the cost will be passed on to us. I'm pretty sure Grady stated that he will do at least an hour with us doing lessons and or playing someone. This statement is at OnePocket.org. Apparently Diane Hoppe is interested in a room also - so - maybe is best to just share the extra room with her instead of competing with her for it.

sizi - The floor plans & sq ft are found @ www.derbycityclassic.com under meeting rooms at the executive west link. Maybe the banner could go from one side of the wall to the other side in the hallway leading to the rooms. See diagrams for approx distance. This way one banner would suffice. In looking at it, I think 7 or 8 ft wide would be good with maybe an arrow pointing to the left - Maybe calling the executive west hotel might be best for an exact measurement. - Thanks, Tom

Ironman (who runs a tour in Texas) has notified us that he may be able to get Schuler cues to help sponsor the room - they also have a banner that we could hang (as a sponsor). He thinks that they may kick in a cue that we could raffle or give away.

Signs

With the recent post, regarding Schuler Cues. I got the idea that we have an opprotunity to trade space on the walls of the AZ room, for merchandise which could be raffled off during the DCC. What do you all think of this idea? Signs on the walls may even give the place a little ambience.

Perhaps it is a little too early to say, but we risk the danger of walking down the "sponsorship" road. This room began as a close-knit, AZers and friends only room...but now because of the many pros who are coming and high-profile of the room, more and more commercial companies will be wanting to plug into the room. (No offense at all, Ironman.) I just think that we have to ponder really carefully as to whether or not to allow one, cos by doing this we will allow more and more, if not all. And if we allow more, there might be more things we cannot control, unless we strictly restrict them to signs and raffle items alone. However, one good thing that can come out of it is that this could culminate into the sponsors paying some amount for the room. The important caveat is that the sponsors do not take up much space within the rooms...I think walls are okay.

If Ironman has the contacts, lets go for it. Sounds great to me and I hear they are great cues to boot. Hell, lets fill the walls with sponsors. Just save enough room for the OHB-St. Louie, Louie Poster. LOL And maybe Mike Maloney might like one of his up there somewhere.

I can certainly see both sides of the argument about the pro's & cons of sponsorship. However, I'll throw out another positive for sponsorship.... FOOD. A sponsor could either provide the food itself or the funds to get food in there. Just a thought...

Agreed, but this wholly depends on how the raffle is structured, and how many people actually want to pitch in for it. For instance, looking at the number of people who "own" the room, if say we only have 50 people wanting in on the raffle and the ticket is $5, we will only have $250.....and then there is also the question of how the money will handled...we need to decide to decide beforehand how to go about all of this. But I too agree that space on the wall is okay.

I'm not trying to dampen the effects of sponsorship, I just think that it merits more consideration than not, and I feel that we should proceed thoughfully because all the money will we will hold in the end is everyone's money, and you'll never know who will be touchy about it.

I guess I was thinking bigger than that. I was thinking the raffle tickets would be available to anyone at the event that wants to buy one. Of course, there is no money to be made if we are going to exclude non-AZer's. I think, if we do 1 ticket for $5 or 5 for $20 we could sell a lot of tickets.

Just wondering?

What is the purpose of us accumulating the funds to use this room. I know this may sound like a silly or cynical question but I thought I knew and now I am not so sure. Initially it was to get a group of us forum junkies together to BS, play pool and have an area to just relax. Now it seems the agenda has become to get as many people to pledge money as possible no matter how it will ultimately effect This little endeavor. I personally would like to be able to use the table in this room occassionally and not just stand in the corner looking at it. I think having the pros come in is a great idea. I think having a table with food and a cooler(s) is a great idea. I really don't think we need to get into hocking cues or other items and advertising for people. I just don't don't think we need to branch out in to marketing. At first we were hoping to come up with the money and not knowing if that would happen. Now that the financial goal has been reached it seems the concensus is to make this into some grand exhibit. IMO, this will be more pleasurable for everyone if it is kept on a scale small enough for us to enjoy the room. I have no pull and I am not asking for a following. I am merely stating my opinion. If we do not monitor the amount of participation in this venture it will not turn out as we hope or expect. I am sure someone will let me know how wrong I am.
