....has it gotten boring in the last 6 months? (maybe i just have too much time on my hands lately)

it almost feels like the same 10 cues and 5 cases every day.:(
i think i liked it better when there was more wheelin n' dealin going on.

I don't think its gotten boring, but it does irk me some on most of the posts.

1. if you don't want to put a price and ask for pm's instead, then I won't even read the thread.
2. at least put the name of the cuemaker in the title.
3. put up pictures if you can
4. edit the first post to SOLD or something to that effect when cue is no longer available. hate reading to end of a long thread to find cue is sold.
5. put some specs about the cue in the inital post.

just my ranting.

thanks.

Have to agree to some degree and I was wondering when I'd see the first post like yours pop up. I miss seeing all the cues.

I've seen cycles like this over the years, and it's funny how it runs with a good/bad economy. Right now, it appears that the guys selling cues that need some extra cash are a little more aggresive in their 'bumps' and price dropping. While there are guys that have cues for sale, but they're not in any hurry to take a hit so they're willing to sit on their stuff until they can get more.
It's a great time to buy a cue right now becuase the guys that 'need' to sell are going to be more willing to bend. But it's a terrible time to be trying to sell a cue.

Now according to Mr. Wilson you are not to ask any questions and we can not answer any questions , Except by PM . I just had one of my threads LOCKED , I answered a question and bumped a cue from the 9th page in about 36 hrs instead of 48 hrs . .

I asked why the rules dont pretain to everyone . He said If I wanted them to be equal I should report the vialates to him . I think Not .

Ahhhhhhh... the good ole day's !!!

In my humble opinion, the For Sale section was fine and now it SUCKS!!!!

That question thing makes no sense.

So for example if someone asks a cue question such as the weight, shaft diameters, type of tips or ferrules or whatever.....the person selling the cue has to wait two days to answer? A potential deal could be lost in those two days......we know how finicky the buying/selling game is. And PMing answers is not a good solution because lurkers / others may have the same interest but not want to become involved or show their hand until they choose and how would the seller even know about them?

And yeah - turning that forum into one which breeds a bunch of snitches running to the moderators is definitely not the way to go.

No you do not have to waite 2 days , but you may only answer in a PM . Do not answer so everyone can see the answer .

If there are posts such as "nice cue" etc, these are a bump.

Questions to the OP and replies to such should be done via PM.

He (Mr. Wilson) has said that you can edit your original post to include the new information, that way you're not bumping. I don't see why people really care if a thread is bumped, it will just keep dying if people don't care about it.

But again - what about the many lurkers and others who follow threads in the background? It just seems like that forum has become overly managed and cumbersome. Oh well, what's done is done but it certainly has lost some of its appeal and I know I for one won't be in there as much.

A good solution to most of the problems that you just listed could be CURED if the person listing the cue gave all the "needed" information in the initial post.

Such as: PRICE, LENGTH, WEIGHT, CUE MAKER, WOODS, MATERIALS, etc., etc., etc.

It is the "VAGUE" posts that usually cause a 1,000 questions to be asked of the sellers.

If the "make an offer" or "PM for price or details" listings were eliminated, then more than half of the problems would be solved.

I think these types of listings are made by sellers who are afraid that they are asking less for an item than it may go for. So, to try to squeeze every last dollar out of it they will try to be secretive and "HOPE" somebody offers more for it than they were going to initially ask.

To each their own, but I buy things like I buy cars...I want to see the "window sticker" right up front. I want to know the price, options, extras, etc. I am NEVER going to buy an item if I have to wrangle all the information out of the seller just to find out what I need to know before I decide to purchase.

Perfectly reasonable. I hate the no price thing, and the no pictures thing. I mean come on people you live in the 21st century, you should know how to use a computer in order to upload pictures. Also the cell phone pictures. Why do companies spend so much money on nice pictures of their product? So it looks appealing and you want to buy it! Taking pictures in sunlight is probably the easiest thing you could do.

I have only one comment to make here. The reason this all changed was because of people complaining to the moderators about the for sale section. Now that it's changed people want to complain about the changes. If it was fine the other way why were there so many complaints?

12-24 hours would be enough to me, 48hours? That's just ridiculous. I would go for a new thread instead of waiting for 48hours. New threads same content are not bumps, according to the rule.

My thread was closed too. I answered one question and gave it one bump the day after. Kinda ridiculous.

Russ........

I have to agree with Russ. I will say that some people & maybe myself at times got carried away with bumping, but 48hrs is just to long and people loose interest and can't find the item when it's on page 10 in 1 day! I really believe that 24 hrs is a reasonable amount of time. Answering questions sure should not count against you. I have no control over what other people ask or put in my threads. Let's try 24 hrs and see how it works, please.

I agree Tommie , 24 seems like a lot better number . Thing wont wind up on page 15-20 in 48 hrs . Jim

I agree with Tommie and Jim. 48 hours is too long. One bump per day seems to work fine on a lot of other forums I frequent.

The problem before was that a lot of people were bumping aft only a few hours because their post was already on page 4-5 because........? All the others were bumping it every few hours because their thread was on page 4-5.

If the mods are reading this can we PLEASE change it to 1 bump every 24 hours?

I am curious what the logic was behind the 48 hour bump rule.

maybe a little bit of both

i don't see what's the big deal about not having dealers post threads either. when it comes to shopping, what draws peoples attention is selection. the more the merrier! i don't care if it's sales to joe public, or two dealers swapping stock, the more exposure products get, from whatever the source, the offshoot is more interest generated.

if it were my site, i would much rather hear people say: "oh if you want to see a lot of nice cues and cases, check out AZBilliards! there's lots of cool stuff posted"

instead of "AZBilliards? eh, there isn't much happening on their for sale forum"

IMHO i don't think the bumping is that huge of an issue anyway. if there's something i'm looking for, i'll go straight to the search function.

i think the 24hr bump is a good idea. perhaps that, along with dividing the wtb/wts forum up by category (cues/cases/accessories&misc) would make the most sense.

I wouldn't mind the 48 hours if everyone was held to the rules. But as it is a lot of people get by with the bumping and others have their threads closed, doesn't really seem fair.
