The Ballad of John and Lou, Part Two

Bad action? I put up $10,000 of my own money and paid for the stream. I would have posted $20,000 if Lou's super smart secret backer would have had the balls to cover it when I offered to post it ALL prior to the match. But no they thought they would pull a move and come over the top while I was setting up for the show. Backfired there didn't it.

Bad action is when you don't pay not when you don't bet. If I make a bet on a game that has not started then I can call that bet off anytime UNLESS the money is posted with an agreement that no one can back out. I can change my mind at any time and call off bets before the first ball is struck.

You are a sideline spectator who has had a hard on for me for years. You didn't even have the cojones to try to make a bet in the first place as far as I can remember. But maybe you did - I wouldn't know with the way the threads were constantly closed and moved around.

So Matt Spinali save your condemnation for someone who cares about what you have to say. Next time you get in the box for $10,000 of your money playing pool tell us. Oh I am sure you will tell us you bet more than that every hand playing poker but even if true which I doubt it would be, playing pool and playing poker are vastly different and it takes a hell of a lot more balls to go heads up in pool where you can't get lucky on the river and take out a better player.

My credibility with all who matter to me is fine. I don't care what a troll thinks about me because trolls don't matter one bit to my life and income. I validate trolls by responding to them and give them meaning to their life. You are only someone because you have someone like me to attack. Otherwise you're a super nobody.

Only on a forum like this can you pretend to be someone whose opinion matters. It doesn't.

LOL. Only John Barton could claim to not be 'bad action' after pulling a stunt like this.

I will say, before the match, I was taken aback by of all your barking. However, your conduct during the match and your attitude about everything that happened since then has earned my respect as a fellow pool player. Learning how to lose is one of the most difficult lessons in all of sports.

You were the man in the arena.

Eh? It was a $10k shill from day one. The actual pool was just the actor's curtain call.

Lou, I think your writing is excellent and look forward to your next installment. I remember you playing at Cue and Cushion in the early 2000's but we were never formally introduced. I was/am still just a banger but have decided to take my game a little more seriously and started playing in the in house 9 ball league at C & C. This is my first session. I play with a Viking Cue. I think my record is 3 and 10. The only time we had any interaction is when I was purchasing a Jim Rempe Training ball from Chris and you were also at the desk. You took the ball out of my hand, examined it, gave me a condescending look, and handed the ball back to me. In my opinion the banning from Cue and Cushion was probably the best for both parties. I did find it funny that John wore the Cue and Cushion shirt the 2nd day. I also feel that John is probably just a bit obnoxious but I have a lot of respect for a guy that puts up 10K OF HIS OWN MONEY to play and was gracious enough to pick up the tab for the stream so we could all enjoy it. I have seen his cases in person, but I have never met him. I like the design, and when I need one he will get my business. I enjoyed the match and even though I have never played a game of one pocket, it thought it was entertaining and educational. However, I think I will learn the game from a few of the older guys at C & C.... I have asked a few questions and they are quite friendly and helpful.

Good luck in your future endeavors and enjoy your win!

Not to be confused with John Barton, Internet loud mouth who uses paypal to post up $3k for a gambling match that he got horsef*cked in.

Two man tournament. I paid the deposit on the entry fee using PayPal. If you would like to make a complaint my PayPal address is paypal@jbideas.com

As for your other description it is not accurate. But regardless an anonymous troll wouldn't play for ten cents much less ten dimes.

That.. coming from somebody that barked at anybody and everybody from CTE to 1P wwyd pages. BET IT UP, JB! Come on over to PDX like you used to threaten and BET BET BET! You showed your @%^ so much on that stream that it should've come with an R rating. Come on, if you believe somebody wouldn't play for ten cents or ten dimes, BET! Count it out and put it on the table! After years of listening to you try to bully and act the high-roller, you came off as a mid-range league player at best. WOOF WOOF WOOF!

What were you going to do with all of the other bets you crawfished on? Send a check? You're so full of it. I can't even believe you'd come back here and start in with this nonsense after months of running your mouth. If it weren't so crazy, it would simply be sad.

So there we have it, the summation. It is easier to define who we are with the proper enemy. Exacting revenge is so much simpler than developing understanding, carrying grudges easier than forgiving.

John is not evil. He just wants to be accepted and admired - that's all. We all do. We just go about it in different ways.

As much as I wanted to dislike Lou for what he did, I just couldn't. We have so much in common.

Well, that might be the summation for Mike, it is not mine.

That's interesting, I no longer live in St Louis but every time I played at C & C it was as boring as a library. If I wanted to play some 14.1 in peace and quiet without the usual pool hall stuff going on around me that's where I went. Maybe you were a little too colorful for the place.

I also played at Chesterfield in a league with Jerry Terbrock. Nice little room but a long drive for me and I figured they had to be paying a big lease in that area, not surprised they didn't make it work.

Back in the late 90's that place used to be jumping starting in the afternoons, well into the night. Action on every table, 1pocket, 9ball, ring games, and when all the pool tables were full you could get down for 25 points of 3C. But then in the early 2000's the boats started opening up around St. Louis and that was it. It became a dead zone.

Chesterfield was doing great until the late 2000's when the strip mall operator wanted to double the rent.

Great writing Lou.
I enjoyed reading that very much.

I wish you have admin rights to this thread so you can just delete the garbage posts here.

Mr. Wilson, can you please just delete all the garbage posts in this thread?

Thanks, Joey.

As to the rest, well... I more or less expect things like that to happen once you release a post into the wild.

Lou Figueroa

My apologies guys as I absolutely did NOT mean to hijack this thread with calling him out. I will edit my posts now and we can get back on track.

Matt Spina, NOT Spinali and other names intentionally used in this thread.

It's cool, Simp.

U Got That Right! Being banned multiple times and warned who knows how often have not worked so here we go again.. Congrats to Lou, I don't think he ever does this again...

Thanks, Quesports.

you may be right

Thanks, Marty.

Lou Figueroa
hope it was enough
to tip you off
on the Rempe CB :-)

You wouldn't have said that at 6-5

Dave,

Watching JB shoot, I can honestly say I never thought Lou was in danger of losing. Really.

Lou's wins were controlled shots and maybe a lil too conservative, but still well in control.

JB's wins were all reckless, loose CB low percentage shot wins.

As Louseph mentioned, he did shoot a little more conservatively than he normally would as he was protecting his backers money in this one.

He had a game plan coming into the match and it paid off.

Have to start calling him Ice Lou from now on. He had his War Face on.

I think he channeled some of those Aliens that he met during Blue Book and they were coaching him telepathically.

What was Lou's backers name. La Lumiere. That would be, 'The Light' in French. Or, can be taken as The Star. The Star, Alien. See, Lou's backer
is an Alien.

Actually Chesterfield - they were talking about a new lease. Old lease had a clause that said if they didn't sign a new lease within 30 days of experation, the landlord could kick them out. He walked in on day t minus 30 days and told them they had to go. Over $12K a month rent paid for years and the landlord could careless. He obvious had a lineup of tennants wanting the space and chopped it up to make ore in the long run. They tried to find another location - even out in Wentzvillle - but could never work it out. I tried to buy the place before Jerry T. sold it to Jerry and Wanda. The landlord was beyond reasonable and I saw the writing on the wall and passed on the deal.

Pool action back in the 1990s, early 2000s would circle around from one pool room to another. Cue N Cushion always had the day time action. It was also a place that top players were in such as Lil Ricky, Bill Crowell, etc. and some big time suckers such as Iranian Billy (who probably lost over $100K to Ralph playing Ms. Pac Man alone) hung out in daily. When Billy and others died and other top players stopped coming around, it lost it's gambling luster.

Still one of the most successful pool rooms in the history of the USA. That is impressive so they must know what they are doing. Lou may be happy he is barred but I think he would enjoy being able to go in there say once a week for a game. Even when Bob was alive, the room had a unique way of doing business and if you knew what that was, you lived with it if you didn't agree with it as customer. I can see the reasoning behind a lot of their methods. I am buddies with Cary (one of the son's) and you couldn't put a gun to my head to name a guy that is more of a stand up person than he is.

There were several things going on, game plan-wise. And then there were the directives coming from that damn implant :-)

watchez, I don't know about the rent, but your numbers do not match what Jerry and Wanda told me. Also, I don't remember Ralph ever betting more than $25 a set. Maybe he opened the Ralph Vault for Pac-man, but I'd be surprised. Now, what Billy lost to Darman playing the machines is another story.

Anywhos, I would disagree with two points. First, for many years my job had me traveling several times a month and I had a chance to visit pool halls all over the country. I would never classify the one we're speaking of as one of the more successful -- not even close.

Second, not for one night a week.
