Has anyone ever beaten Tony Fargo at long rack banks even? I mean playing for something.

After playing around SE MO and NE AR and SW TN for so many years, all I ever hear about is how good this guy is at long rack banks. I even got to view his personal book of bank sketches thanks to Bob Prater. But I never hear of anyone actually playing him.

Stories please!!!!!!!!!

> I've known Tony about as long as I've ever been around the game seriously.

In all that time,I've only gotten to see him get down playing long rack banks 5-6 times, and it was always over REAL quick,so in my mind he's undefeated.

For years at The Rack,he had a standing offer to let anyone back the ghost playing short-rack banks too. And this wasn't this "hillbilly" bank pool they play here locally either, where you can kick a ball in off a 3 or more rail kick, and call kisses. No kicks the way Tony played it,and nothing can kiss, balls made on a scratch break spotted up. I'd bet I've seen him bank all 9 100 times at his best.

If the DCC bank event was a race to 7,Greg would have changed the name to The Tony Fargo Classic by now. I can't see how he hasn't won it a bunch.

Takes a pretty solid effort to beat him playing anything really,in fact in almost 20 years, the ONLY player I know of that has beat him gambling but wasn't "supposed" to was Jeanette. Tommy D.

fargo vs spaeth

years ago i watched fargo and gary spaeth play banks all night at oakley pool room in cincinnati. gary's home room. they played about 3 or 4 hours and fargo was winning. then they moved in the back romm to gary's home table and gary won. also fargo tried to give mike medley a ball and didn't like like it.

Muhammad was telling me yesterday about someone driving up to pick up Bugs and bringing him back to Memphis to play Tony some. According to Muhammad, Bugs didn't like it

In 1990 I lived in Memphis and used to watch Tony play quite a bit. I watched him play Jose Parica some one pocket getting a ball and was down seven or eight games and came back to tie it up.

After that they played long rack banks and Tony beat him two games without Jose making a ball. Tony then gave him 8 to 7 and beat him two more games, then Tony offered him 9 to 7 and Jose said: "I never play you banks again!!!". I never saw Jose play Tony banks again either.

It was the most awesome display of banks I have ever seen, Tony never left Jose a shot and had him jacked up on top of balls almost every shot.

I once saw Tony spread out 15 balls on the table take ball in hand to start and bank in all 15 balls, take them out and do it again, take them out and do it again!!! He then took the balls up to pay his time, 45 straight banks without missing! I asked him why would he stop before missing and he said he didn't have that much time!

That's stronger than a acre of garlic ! Humphrey told me that Tony was the only player to ever beat the ghost on their gaft table at Racketeers in new orleans years back...took a lil over 30 hours..and they let every champion that walked thru the door play it on that table..it was next to the A C unit and the felt held water like a sponge

Yes Tony that's right but you left out the fact that Fargo came into Oakley (I owned the place and staked Gary) about 11:00 am and asked me if I could get a hold of Gary. He picked a table in the front and started practicing. I tried for hours to get Gary but couldn't until about 7:00 pm that night. Gary arrived at about 9:00pm and hadn't hit a ball in about a week. Tony had been practicing on that table for about 10 hours by that time. I had gotten busted for staying open 24 hours a few weeks prior to this and explained to Tony that I HAD to close ar 2:30am. They finally got playing about 10:00pm and played til about 2:00 am when I told them if they wanted to keep playing they'd have to go into the back room so POPO couldn't see them and I wouldn't get popped again. At this point, Tony had won every game and was up $800@ $200 a game. He said he'd been warned not to play Gary in that back room and was leary! He went back and looked at the tables and was allowed to choose which of 3 Gold Crowns he play on. Just so happens he chose Gary's favorite table! lol By 3:15 am Gary had won 4 games back and Tony pulled up even. I ate the time as usual!

They played a few times after that at tournaments and Gary won every time!

Several years ago, Tony visited New Orleans and played Jamie Farrell the rusty rifle some full rack banks on Jamie's favorite table and they played for a few hours breaking even. That was the only time I saw him play banks. Both played extremely well.

Happened in another universe

Tell Muhammad that that must have happened in another universe. Bugs and Tony played twice. I was present at both outings. In So Car. Tony beat Bugs badly, playing for $200 a game. Bugs doesnt like to play by the game unless its very high. They next played in St Charles IL for $500 a game and Bugs won easily.
