I think i have the answer, but i want to hear what all AZers have to say.

Couple of clues, 1st one, they were born in Grundy Va, between them they won over 20 state championships, one was from Maryland, the other from Texas.

One was mainly a tournament player once running 9 or 10 straight racks of 9 ball while playing in a tournament.

The other was an action type player, playing all the great players of his era, playing in the US open 2 times and finishing 17th both tries, plus winning many tri state area tournaments!

I know you like the Vanovers for this, and I agree.

In snooker, I doubt if there is anybody close to these brothers...
..Joe and Fred Davis....both were multiple World snooker and English
Billiards champions.

And surprisingly, I have a Lone entry to this problem....

Pt i know i talk a lot about Tom Vanover here and it probably gets on some peoples nerves but i just cant help it the Man was the best i ever seen.

Of course i seen him play everyday and he was my idol sence i was a little kid. so there is alot of favortizism on my behaft.

But thanks for your reply and i do agree 100 % with it!

I know you know what you are talking about when it comes to pool!

Maybe not famous pool players, but famous nonetheless, the Earp brothers, Wyatt and Morgan, enjoyed the game.
As a matter of fact, they were in a billiard parlor when Morgan was shot and killed by an unknown assassin. His final words were, "This is the last game of pool I'll ever play."

The Boggs brothers and the Fusco brothers come to mind.

Tom spotted Freddy the 8 playing 9 ball and Scotty the 7 ball in 9 ball!

Tom always got the money!

Tom couldnt f with Scotty in 1pocket, but Tom knew that and wouldnt play

Fuscos, Pete and Jimmy are cousins, Tom played Petey many of times in 9 ball and never lost once, But they always came to Tom and played him in his pool hall.

Now for Jimmy that was a different story, Tom and Jimmy played more then Tom and Petey did, Tom beat Jimmy in DunDAlk (toms homeroom) A few times, then Jimmy wouldnt play there anymore (i didnt blame him) so they move to bill and billies out in glen burnie, thats were Jimmy trapped Tom real good bye saying the only way he would play Tom in 9 ball was back pocket 9 ball and Tom agree, Jimmy went right through Tom in that game, But Jimmy and Tom was a very good match up playing regular 9 ball.

Those Fuscos had more heart then any pair living.

Without a doubt the Fuscos were the greatest 1 pocket pair of all time!

Richie, you don't talk ENOUGH about Tom Vanover..I read every post about
him.
I never met him, but I know his brother Bob...one of the finest players out
of Texas, and one of the finest people in the game.
And I like your contributions to AZ.

regards
pt

I hate facts getting in the way of a good story.:)

I DO know identical twins who tried to wear out Rudolph Wanderone by
switching up every few games....but he kept beating them both.
