me and millions of others thought forest whitaker's character was referring to a diet when he asked Eddie if he should lose some weight. Perhaps a trimmer actor should have gotten the role.
 
After Vince's opponent refuse to gamble after being offered every ball on the table Vince offers,

That one was classic. I dont know who that guy was but hes in alot of movies and i liked the way he eyeballed vince like he didnt like him:wink:

Re: The Hustler - I always used to call a friend of mine "Sausage" when it was his turn to rack. A line from the film was Minnesota Fats saying "Racke 'em, Sausage".
 
A pool player with $300 shoes in the 1980's...ha. Now if your from NY in the 1980's and in the know, you only pay "off the dock price" for just about anything. Johnnyt
 
Most of the good ones have been taken, but I also liked his match with the Miz: "I didn't deserve that; yes you did".

I also like when Eddie takes Vincent and Carmen to dinner and describes why it will work. Eddie-"You're a natural character, Vinve-You see that, Ive been trying to tell her that, I have natural character, Eddie- I didn't say you have natural character, I said you are a natural character. You're an incredible flake. most guys spend a lifetime trying to perfect that" ----or something like that.

I also like "Oh, and keep that shirt on, its a nice touch." Referring to the VINCE shirt.

His name is: Bill Cobb, no I didn't have to go play my copy to know his name, I have a tendency to remember actors that at one time or another impress me, his role in tcom wasn't the role that got me to remember his name.


Best fast Eddie line, from the hustler, his ending speech about burt, being dead inside. That 3 minute speech gave him my oscar nod, I used that same line in highschool to a guy who treated everyone baddly, and so on, no one ever knew I had that whole line remembered from a movie.

There's this guy grady seasons, he's making the most money on paper but that doesn't mean anything.

That post reminded me:

"The real money is in the practice room. A guy can knocked out of the tournament do well in the practice room and make more money than the guy who won the tournament."

Eddie knew what he was talking about. At least if you are talking about the Derby, not sure it applies anywhere else.

And that's the whole movie right there. At the beginning Vincent is just like Eddie was in the Hustler, just wanting to be the best, no hustle just play and give it your all. Then Eddie teaches him to hustle, reprising the role that Charlie had in the Hustler of being the stakehorse and manager. He teaches Vincent what he himself so many years ago despised. Yet, though he has given up serious pool (presumably because of Gordon's warning) he is still a hustler in other areas of life.

Going on the road with Vincent brought it all back. In the end he was sorry that he used Vincent that way but the last lesson was just bring it when you need to, sometimes you drop all the hustle and just bring your best game to the table.

Both of them played their roles to a tee. Many people don't think that The Color of Money was as good as the Hustler but it really was. You have to look past the pool though to really get the interactions.
