Marriott, HIE, Ramada, & Choice & CS Hotels - all rates should be <$50/night group rates @ double occupancy. they are my accounts; i'm their vendor for furniture.

do yáll have a DISCOUNT CODE, from Barry Behrman for the event?

We are staying at Cedar Tree Inn, 2 bed, full kitchenette, non smoking room on first floor giant space room cost us $350 for 7 days after taxes. Didn't use a code for this place.

$58/night is good for a kitchenette! (i'm assuming 6 nights) regardless of the city.
i just wish that SOMEONE.... had a PR/Marketing person involved.... to get all of yáll DISCOUNTED RATES....

....cause i can stay anywhere @ $25/night - vendor/employee rate.
FYI.

(i won't be @ the Open, cause it coincides w/ THE Furniture Market, but KK9 will)

i'm gonna say it again - WHY hasn't the venue negotiated rates for yáll?

Mosconi is the same way - nothing.
and i'm sure Bonus Ball, too.

the hotels have yáll by the 8-ball, and they know it. we have the same thing in my furniture show venues. some shows negotiate rates for us, and others don't. i'm sure Gene & Rhea can confirm this, cause they were here this week, which is 2 wks before my Show - and that's when they jack-up the rates for all rolling in to prep the shrms. 20K-50K people roll-in for 7-21 days.

EX @ High Point, NC & only 1 hotel w/in walking distance; balance are 5-15mls away:
Motel 6 or Ramada - normal rate @ $17. Market rate @ $65 (kitchenette).
Radisson - normal rate @ $70. Market rate @ $450 & 5 night min; walking distance.
Balance hotels - normal rate @ $70. Market rate @ $180.
Avis, Hertz, etc - normal rate @ $30. Market rate @ $80.
*NO negotiated rates by promoter

(this, is why we've got 10 people staying w/ us @ both houses & 3 cars!)

EX @ Vegas & Miami:
Venetian, Bellagio, Aria, Mirage, etc etc - normal rate @ $150+/+. Market rate @ $90
Luxor, Stratosphere, Sahara, etc - normal rate @ $40. Market rate @ $25.
free shuttles @ every hotel
*negotiated rates by promoter

that $25 employee rate ($50 rate if it's a $250 nice hotel @ downtown Atlanta), tells yáll how much room they have to move/negotiate....

Got woke up this morning by church music, very loud drums and people. Our room at this motel is right next to a church inside of the motel! Who in their right mind would allow this in a motel?

Gene can smell smoke from the previous resident somehow, I don't smell anything, but it is enough to bother him so we are moving upstairs to a different non smoking room now. He won't go to Q Masters either just because he says their smoking section is separated by nothing at all from their non smoking section. His first match is tomorrow at 4pm against Daniel Becker. Hopefully tonight he will get some rest in a non smoking room.

Nope, 1 week in the room, no shooting pool for me, no eating junk food, gonna just be on the internet on facebook and azbilliards, maybe watch some TV... Watching the matches costs me money, I know where my bankroll stands and how much we have invested in this tournament. This whole week is boiling down to Genes performance, I just hope by next year I will be good enough to cash in this event so that I don't feel like I'm wasting time here.

The. US Open is a gathering of the worlds best.Maybe not as much so this year but If you've not had the chance to watch Shane and Appleton play, along with the energy of the open itself you might be missing history in the making. I understand the bankroll being tight and it takes discipline to do the sensible thing. Good luck to you and "Genomachino". I hope you get a chance to hangout around the action. For me That's the best part. I hope Gene "top 5s"

I got a pass to watch the Open. I also was fortunate enough to find someone heading to Q Masters where I got to watch some action. I saw SVB playing Keith Benett spotting him the 8 out in 10 ball races to 17. I also got to practice last night, wasn't playing as well as I am capable of but that is to be expected as I haven't hit any balls in 4 days.

How did Keith and Shane come out? Glad you got to get out and enjoy it. Nothing wrong with that

That's a nice dream...but extraordinarily unrealistic. There are dozens and dozens of pro players (guys who play better than Gene) who will not cash in this event. There's no ladies division, so for you to accomplish this in the Open, EVER, let alone in a year, is a million to one shot! That said...dream big and good luck.

Wow, Tom Vanover is 74???....I played him in Florida about 27 years ago, he sure didn't look like he was 47. He played pretty good from what I remember.

Yes CJ Tom is 74 and still working in a pool hall, I was told you two played at the Flamingo lounge.

I was also told that Tom was told to stay away from two players, Buddy Hall and CJ Wiley.

The world was Tom didnt know what you looked like, when his crew went out and got something to eat, Tom stayed behide at the pool table and when they came back from eating Tom was playing CJ AND THE REST IS HISTORY! SO WAS THE MONEY!
