The Greatest Almosts...

I nailed this shot in the first game of my league match last night. In spite of my heroic efforts on the 8, I blew position on the 9 and lost the game. Please feel free to post your most recent greatest almosts.

LET'S GET THIS WHINING STARTED!

I went way long and almost stratched after pocketing the 7. I did a great shot on the 8 and drew the cue ball right back into the same pocket I started.

I almost drew my ball once....but someone pointed out it hit a piece of chalk on the table and rocked backwards.

Did you corner-hook yourself? If you didn't corner-hook yourself or dog your face off, you have no business posting this here.

Oh, wait. Did you scratch? That would be awesome!

I think he meant he drew it too far (or too straight, depending on your perspective) and scratched.

I wish I had a video of this 8-ball rack I almost ran out in league a couple weeks ago, so I could remember each shot and diagram the out.

The guy was giving me bad racks, and so I put a little extra into my break trying to get a good spread, and sacrificed accuracy, hitting the head ball with a glancing blow and leaving 10 balls or so in the close vicinity of the rack area. Nonetheless, I made one ball on the break.

I proceeded into the most ill-advised runout attempt ever. I made the first ball and managed to work the CB into the middle of the large cluster. From the middle of the cluster, I made very difficult cuts, caroms, and banks, nudging balls loose and playing position back into the middle of the cluster with each shot. Probably 5 of the 6 stripes I pocketed were extremely low-percentage shots for me (counting the nudge-outs and position play for the next problem ball), but they all worked this time.

Then I missed this shot on the 8 to complete what would have been the best runout of my life by far:

Yes, I kinda figured that out though I'm still not sure. If he scratched, that would be one of the most monumental scratches of all time!

CueTable Help

This just happened to me this week. I tried to bump and run off his ball, and went too thin and ended up here. So, it's a full table back cut with a hair of inside to bounce one rail and thread a wide needle. I must have hit it harder thinking that if I hit one his stripes coming through, I'd be perfect position.

Suck. {edit: why aren't my arrows showing up?}

Yes I stratched, the last little line in the diagram was an accident.

not 14.1 but:

partner 8ball; i just made the 8ball; i ask one of the other guys"did you have fun, cotton??!". just happened to keep watching the cue as it goes and goes, evolving into the Energizer Bunny as it keeps momentum and rolls into a corner pocket! sigh....... i did hit them pretty well, too

Cotton? Whatever does that mean?

It was hill/hill in the finals of the small weekly tournament that I like to play in and I'm breaking. This would have marked the first time that I ever won this thing from the winner's bracket. I broke that last rack with a sledgehammer break. 5 balls fell including the 9 ball and of course, the cue ball. The worst part was, when the cue ball hit the rack, it jumped about a foot into the air and landed right in the center of the table, it as another ball that was coming around the table that drilled it into the side pocket. Opponent runs out.

In college I had 2 girls in my physics class hitting on me, one was smart, beautiful, athletic, and funny. The other one liked to cut herself. Guess which one I asked out.

Down in the depths of the Deep South, Cotton is a common nickname. You got white hair, you named Cotton. (Just a guess off the top of my head, no pun intended.)
