The hip-hop young crowd

Yes Sir, I am 33, and grew up listening to Public Enemy, NWA, Cypress Hill, LL Cool J (of course) and a host of others.

It's not about disrespect, it's about young people expressing themselves; Just like it was for every generation before them.
Tap tap tap...I listen to rock from the '60s to present personally...it's the culture I grew up in and todays generation is pretty much hiphop and rap...as always todays "young punk" is tomorrows "old geezer"...I'm 40 BTW...

I agree with Gregg Im 33 and grew up on all that same stuff, love that stuff too! As long as the pool room has the other right qualities(action, backers and no fighting!!!) who care what music is playing

There has to be lines drawn for acceptable behavior and dress in public. Just like there has to be lines drawn for anything else society deems unacceptable.

That does not constitute being a bigot, but ignoring the things that have the potential to negatively impact our children may very well constitute being an idiot.

One of my best friends that I play one pocket with is black, I can't wait to show him this. He's gonna get a kick out of it cause he dislikes it as much as I do. He has a belt BTW. You'd need to hear him let you know what he'd do if his kids left the house with their pants hanging off their knees.

I never mentioned skin color. Black, White, Yellow or Polka Dot, if the shoe fits wear it!

When you're in your home walk around the way you want. When you are in public have some respect and consideration for others. Is that too much to ask?

As for the women that walk around the way they do at times, where the hell did you ever get the idea I condoned that? Go start a cleavage thread and we can discuss that too.

I noticed no one wants to discuss the "F" this and "F" that in this music, or the fact that it isn't acceptable language even here on the forum. Do you think the moderators are denying us freedom of speech also? Do you just brush that aside and chalk it up to being kids? Do you have children of your own?

If you think strongly disapproving of this disgusting dress and obscene vulgar music and wanting to keep my kids from it or from being infested by it in public places is being a bigot .. guess what, I don't care.

I didn't make it about race I used it as a point to correlate a thought. You however can turn it into anything you like. I will also say just so no one gets the wrong idea that I don't think you or anyone else in this thread is a racist. I was pointing out the similarities between your thoughts and a racist one to help illustrate a point that you're a bigot.

Definition of a bigot

A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own.

So the shoe fits perfectly huh Cinderella.

I'm not arguing the F this point because to a certain extent I agree with you. As a matter of fact I somewhat agree with you over the clothing arguement too. I didn't however agree that it was criminal or that it equated to being of criminal mind. You did that all on your own.

My point is that you are tolerant of the way your peers dress but have no tolerence for this hip hop generation because you're a bigot. Pretty plain and simple. I also pointed out that a bra strap is just a lewd based on your observations and never once have I seen a penis, vagina or nipple due to baggy clothing. Your opinion is without basis or merit because you can't back it up with anything substantial other than you don't like them because they dress different than you. What they wear isn't even close to breeching 99% of the worlds moral values anymore than a bra strap would. You simply don't like the way it looks, because by law its not any different that whats already widely accepted by you and your peers of past generations.

So the line in the sand for you is cleavage, is it not? How about legs or knees? Maybe ankles? You tell us how to conform to your moral values.

Does this mean if we see a bra strap that its considered lewd and that it crossed the line. It is an undergarment isn't it?

I'll address the profanity in music. I am 26 and as long as I can remember there has been profanity in my generation's music. This isn't a new thing. When I was younger, my parents had enough parental control of me to influence what I listened to and what I considered to be right and wrong, no matter what was going on in society. Society is going to do its thing, you need to do yours.

Maybe a radical islamic fad. A female circumcision fad? Live in poverty fad? Marry your favorite pet fad?

Whatever works for your own self expression!

Well the world gets stranger and stranger every new day, I won't argue that.

3andout,

Our moral fibers just differ...i am simply more interested in individualism and freedom of choice than telling someone to stop saying or even blaring the f word. Keeping freedom of choice is way more important than taking our rights away. Of course is a continuation of what "they" do outside the pool room.

Let me let you in on a little secret...THE MUSIC IS BLARING BECAUSE "THEY" DONT WANT YOU IN THE POOL ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me let you in on another little secret..."THEY" WEAR THEIR PANTS LIKE THAT TO PISS YOU OFF BECAUSE "THEY" DONT LIKE YOU AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have only pulled my pants down once because I didn't like someone!!
I mostly pull them down when I like someone!! :D

I'm confused :D :D

A couple of random thoughts...

Boxers:

Do I like to see 8 inches of boxer shorts sticking out above jeans? No. Should it be prohibited? HELL NO!!! I don't even think it's worth taking offense to. For a minute, think about it this way: What is underwear? It's just another layer of clothing. How do you know there's not a pair of tighty-whities (briefs) underneath those boxers? What if the guy didn't have those pants on at all? You'd simply be looking at a pair of plaid shorts. Now he puts pants on over that and suddenly he's violating you? He's wearing MORE clothes! LOL. :)

Music:

I like hip hop, some of it, but not all. In general, I like music for the beats and the "tunes", instrumentals, etc., and the lyrics, for me, are generally just sorta there. If the lyrics are good, bonus. Sometimes lyrics are outstandingly awesome and moving. If the lyrics are really horrible for whatever reason, that COULD ruin the song for me.

Now, that said, hip hop for me is no different. The stuff I like, I generally like for the beats, musical content, etc. If the lyrics are excessively violent or nasty or whatever, I'll most likely lose interest, or at least lose a little respect for that song. But not all hip hop is like that, and some songs/artists send a very positive message.

Actually, other genres of music may have songs here and there with violent lyrics, although some of these tend to be either written in the third person or written for the singer to be "in character".

I'm not trying to convince anyone to like something they don't like; I guess I'm just saying that things aren't always so black and white. Just take this post for whatever it's worth.

I'm sick of people saying that the baggy cloths offend them... It's a style. Get over it. You complain about being able to see someones boxers, like that's SO bad...... I walk into a bar and see 10 guys who seem to be of the 'country music' club who walk around in panths SO TIGHT that you can.... ehh, I don't even want to go into details here, it's just nasty.

Now there is a point where on the baggy style it does just get plain comical, but you have to understand that alot of people in this culture don't have the problem of getting in a fight and having to swing with your right and hold your shorts up with your left... I wear 'em baggy, but they will never, under any circumstances fall to the floor... okay, maybe one or two circumstances.

That reminds me of something I heard on the radio when they were talking about the baggy pants ban in Louisiana. Apparently the cops were pissed about the ban because if a suspect happens to run from them and if he happens to be wearing extremely baggy pants, usually it will slow him down a little bit. I guess sometimes it could be the only thing to level the playing field in a foot race. LOL.

Silver lining!

There's always a silver lining! You just have to look for it! :D

LOL. That's true.. so if anyone is thinking of voting for a baggy pants ban, keep that in mind. :D

Well, perhaps we can just leave it this way in explaining it to our children ...

Our world is made up of many people, with many different moral values, or lack there of.

Banning baggy cloths is out-right stupid. It goes against our rights, and the idiots trying to pass these laws should be spending their time doing something that might actually HELP the world, instead of spending their time trying to ban a fashion style because they don't like it.

That just proves that even people (or should I say especially people...) in the government can be complete retards.
