The International 9-Ball Open

Almost deserved to lose if he indeed miscued and scratched on the break shot when he was on the hill. To get this correct, the score was 10-6 at that time, then Ko took ball-in-hand off that SVB scratch on the break, and ran out the rack, then broke and ran the final 4 racks?

However, it's not as devastating a loss when your opponent runs out the set on you as opposed to when you squander numerous opportunities to win that final game once on the hill. I'm guessing Shane will regroup in his next match, but likely won't sleep very well tonight.

Numerous chances lol how bout 1

Sh!t, damn transformer blew out and we lost power for a half hour. I think SVB was up like 9-6 or 10-6. Missed it.:frown:

Agreed about Kaci. He was a little shy at first, but he's a quality guy with a very positive attitude.

I'm sure that your comments about Grabe are based on your own experiences. You've seen what you've seen.

My experience has been very different. Grabe has played in nearly all of the World Series of Pool events at Steinway Billiards in Queens, NY. He has been friendly and is well liked by most of those who attend, myself included.

We can agree to disagree, Russ.

Good luck to both of these fine players.

My opinion was based on seeing him be a total asshole to Shane McMinn at the Leende, NL Eurotour stop, trying to get in Shane's head before the match, looking at Shane's rack while waiting to get the go ahead from the people running the stream, and he says to Shane, with a sneer on his face, "Look at that rack, just like an American, to cheat on the rack."

And he kept it up when Shane tried again, and then offered to let Grabe rack for both of them. Shane was simply trying to play the match, and Grabe was trying to gain an edge by getting in Shane's head. Thankfully, Shane beat him that match.

I will 100% root against Grabe for the rest of my life, in any match he plays, against anybody... From any country.

Shit, I'll even root for Ouschan over Grabe.

And feel free to tell him the next time you see him at Steinway Billiards, that his actions did not go unnoticed. I very much doubt there was any "history" between these two, as it is doubtful Grabe has ever played McMinn before this. McMinn was a perfect gentleman in every match I watched there, and another member of the American contingent said that Grabe is known for that sort of behavior.

Short Bus Russ

Shaw, Kaci, SVB and Orcullo on the B-side now. Doesn't look good for the cinderellas on the B-side.

... but you never now.

Thanks for sharing. Maybe he's just a jerk who somehow manages to keep his bad side in check at Steinway.

Shane overall played well.... aside from a miscue on a break early in the match that scratched and the scratch on break when on the hill. Other than that, he didn't do a lot wrong.

KO just got his break working at the end of the match and he was methodical in his runouts...... Shane just sat and watched.

Shane is still a contender for the title, but with Orcullo, Kaci, and Shaw on the B-side, he'll have to work very hard for it.

Congrats to Baby Ko. I've always felt he does several things better than Big Ko, but Big Ko has a much better break. When Baby Ko is breaking well, he's crazy tough to beat.

If he broke and ran the last five, I guess his break was working. What a fantastic comeback! Baby Ko is certainly one of the contenders for the title now.

He ain't no baby anymore! :yikes:

Any one of these 8 players in the one-loss bracket, including the 3 Americans, could win this thing, but when looking at 12 remaining players, Woodward and Bergman may likely be considered the long shots compared to the 9 Asians and Europeans still standing. I'm pulling for both of them!

Use to think Grabe was ok when he played WCOP few years ago. But in past couple of years, he has been a jerk. He either has something to say to maybe 'shark" or put off his opponent.
I would add him to
Blacklist of Players with Bad Attitude
Mika Immonen
Karl Boyes
Earl Strickland
Dennis Grabe
Joshua Filler

There are probably many more that I missed out :D

Wow the Americans kicked ass this morning. Skyler beat Gorst 11-2, Bergman beat Shaw 11-7. They both had to have been underdogs in those matches.

Unfortunately they play each other now.

Shane is not looking too good in the warm up. Meanwhile Chris Melling is firing them in.
