jay helfert said:Because he RULED!
hemicudas said:He did rule for quite some time. Jay, do you have any idea whether Jim still has the $20K, 1970's money, Bob Meucci cue? I have seen photos of it but never seen it in person.
axejunkie said:Since Jay jumped in here...there's a popular Accu-stats match of Jim vs. a very youthful-looking Mika Immonen from '98 US Open. Jay does the commentary along with Nick Varner. You can tell how much respect he has for Jim's game.
Mika goes on to win 11-10. Jim pulls out a 1-9 kick combo with the bridge that's some definite highlight reel stuff.
Pushout said:Hemicudas, the cue was sold, a good many years ago. to, IIRC, a guy in California for $18,000-$20,000. Jim told me himself that the cue cost $10,000 when he got it from Meucci.
I have a tape of that match and it was exciting. Jim played great, but Mika squeaked by at the end and I enjoyed the commentary also Jay.jay helfert said:That was a great match, that I believed decided 4th place. The hill-hill game was a classic too, with Mika getting out in style. I won't ruin it for you by telling you what happened. If you buy a DVD of this match, I get a toaster from Pat Fleming.
