The New OB Classic shaft - Test Drive - It's HOT STUFF!

poolplayer

Pricing has not been released yet, but should be out by the end of the week.

As far as availability, March 18th is the launch date and I don't see that changing. We should have dealer inventory to ship a few days before that, and we will have inventory at the Super Billiards Expo.

Thanks!

Hell, They ought to be cheaper! Where in a Recession, don't you know? My house has come down 50% in value, cue sticks should too.

The ferrule is a white thermoplastic.

Chalk will wipe off, but of course it can be scratched if you hit it with a tip shaper or something. But of course all ferrule materials will do that.

The ferrule is short, only 1/4". I think Tate posted some pictures at the start of the thread.

Very very close

The new OB shaft looks like a close neighbour of the Mcdermott Ishaft with that really short ferrule.Even Que Perfect has the same ferrule trend. If you can get used to the sighting with the short ferrule, what the hell, give it a shot!;)

I did not know anyone sighted with their ferrule.. That is something I had not heard of.. Hmmmm, I really like a short ferrule and have been having my shafts custom made with a short ferrule for several years now..

Royce,

I know OB makes a break cue, but I was wondering for those who might break with their playing cues...

Is breaking with the OB Classic shaft NOT recommended for any reason -- i.e. is it likely to damage the shaft?

Thanks for your replies in this thread. I can't wait to try out the Classic at SBE...

Royce will you send me a shaft 3x8-10 that will fit a custom Mike Gulyassy. I want a classic shaft bad! I was trying to ask you while I was doing commentary on the Olathe tournament this weekend. Hook a brother up?!? PM me and let me know what we can do.

Jeff,

I have a customer over in my end which uses a stock OB2 shaft on his playing cue
which he also breaks with.
Not a single problem with this customer - I only change the tip for him a little
more often then the others.
So to compare, I'm pretty sure that the new shaft would stand the beating
without trouble due to it's similar design - though without a damping core.
Caution though - this is my assumption since I have not received my classics .

D Player,

All OB Cues shafts will hold up to normal breaking. We don't exclude damage due to breaking in our warranty.

This doesn't mean you can bend it against the table and snap the joint, but certainly that isn't normal.

Thanks!

i think Ronnie has been doing it a little longer but a lot of people're doing it these days. i leaned to play using predators so i've always thought longer ferrules looked strange

Bigtime fan of your products, and have almost always used an ob1 shaft since not too long after they came out. Awesome product and excellent customer service. Thanks.

My question for you is: will the vendors have shaft blanks available, or do I need to go through you if i would want a blank that is already cut down to 12.5mm? Thanks for your response in advance

I cant wait for mine!!

I have test hit Royce's OB classic and i have to tell you its the best hitting one out of the 3 he make in my opinion. I have been playing the OB 1 and 2 shafts since Royce started making shafts. I havent had the pleasure of trying the thicker shaft but im sure it hits just as well. I know you LD fans that enjoy a much stiffer hit will fall in love with this shaft. Im not sure how he accomplished the LD with the solid core shaft but leave it to Royce to figure out a way to have the best of both worlds. A very firm hit combined with low que ball squirt!! These shaft will sell out fast!!

Dee,

The partials will certainly be available to the dealers. As to which ones will go ahead and stock some, only time will tell. Times are tough out there right now and many stores are keeping their inventories very low. Don't hesitate to call your favorite store and tell them you are interested. That could be what they need to know what to keep in stock.

For your case, because you want something custom, I recommend you call us. We can turn one down and get it out to you on the 18th.

We are in the office M-F 8 to 5 central time. 877-399-9901

Thanks!

I assume you will be in Vegas in May for BCA. If so I hope to test hit the the Classic. I assume you'll sell blanks at the event?
Thanks, Mark
