congrats steve the kid has promise.....he is really nice and very humble....his dad is teaching him well.....

thanks steve i really couldnt remember his name but that he was helping out in the shop.....well then this cue is really rare.....cgs....

very nice cue
didn't he make that as a school project

nice cue
if you ever decide to part with it ,i would like it

i remember Barry as a little kid who offered to bet $10 on a basketball game I set up at my house

His dad ,the Barry we all know, brought his family down here to stay for a week or so.
I brought in a ringer to play Barry some one on one basketball, soon as Barry Jr saw the set up, he said "i'll take Tyrone for $10"

I am sorry to say that Barry almost died in the Texas sun,but not before he swished a shot from about 20 feet to win, right before he ran out of gas.

Thought this story might add to your pride of ownership of that Szamboti cue

I ordered the first Jimmy cue,but Barry wisely held off

congrats on a one of cue

Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Another great looking cue that probably plays as good as it looks.

Dean, the cue that Jimmy made was for a school project. The one Barry jr made was well after he was done with school

I'm taking delivery of this cue today thanks to Ron Seymour (rigmaster). I spoke with Barry L. Szamboti at length yesterday about this cue. Actually, two of these cues were made by Barry and his son, Barry J. Szamboti. One of them is in the collection of Barry L. Szamboti's wife (Kathy) and will be sold only after he passes away. So, this is the only cue by Barry J. Szamboti that is in circulation and there will never be another one. Barry was involved in ever step of the build and engraved his son's name in the ivory hoppe ring. Barry told me yesterday that he never would have let this cue leave his shop and he would not have sold it to Steve (tikkler) if it was not of Szamboti quality. For those of you who do not know, each of Barry's three children (Barry, Jimmy and Kristin) made two cues and Barry was instrumental in the six builds. Barry's wife has one of the two cues built by each of her children and the rest are in circulation. These six cues are third generation Szambotis. Barry told me yesterday that none of his three children will ever build another cue. That makes the 6 third-generation Szambotis very collectible in my view.

Mike,
great post.
I have had the privilege of phone conversations with Barry over the years about cue ids, and orders.
unfortunately both cues were not szams.
Barry was too busy to take on orders.
HOWEVER,
A true gentleman.
Very much a CLASS ACT"

NICE PICKUP ... ENJOY:smile:

Hi Duane:

Yes, Barry sure is. We spent almost a full hour on the phone yesterday, talking about this cue, all six of his kids' cues, and other matters. He has always been very generous with his time with me and I appreciate the same.

Best regards,

Mike

Barry told me that only the two cues by Barry J. Szamboti have ivory joints and ivory hoppe rings with Barry's engraving. The cue came shortly after I posted to this thread. It is in prefect condition and will remain in such condition as long as I own it. I feel very lucky to have acquired this third-generation Szamboti. Many thanks to my buddy, Ron Seymour!!!

Ivory Joints.....my kind of cue..... this qualifies as a historical cue and the design is beautifully simple.

Cowabunga.......Holy Turd.......I just browsed the Peisner Collection.......first of all nothing but the most eleite names in cue-makers and secondly nothing but some of the best cues they ever made.....and the Hercek Collection.....pretty much everyone knows I've been lusting to own one of Joel's Iv Jt pool cues and haven't been successful......and then I open Joel's cues in the Peisner Collection and what's in it?

Before I assume room temperature, some day I hope to stand in front of a collection ike this and hold some of these cues.....forget about playing with them.......I just want some private time to admire and appreciate these wonderful creations in person......afterwards, the good Lord can take my soul but before then, please indulge & allow me to enjoy what seems like the impossible dream.

Hey Mike, tremendous acquisition on getting this incredible pool cue and bring it out to play so the world can see what a beautiful, rare specimen you have of a Szamboti pool cue.......Congrats....me very jealous.
