The REASON you don't play pool well.

Some say, you just don't have the genes for it. You have to be born with it.

Some say, you have to hit a million balls.

Some say, you have to have a good aiming system.

Some say you have to attack the table like a bird of prey but unforutnately for some of us you have the other kind of pray in you.

Some say, you have to go to school to figure it out.

Some say you have to understand quantum physics.

Some say you have to learn how to pivot.

Some say you have to have Perfect Aim.

Josh and Chuck have figured it out. It's mirror neurons. That's it. It's just that you don't have enough mirror neurons.

I know you didn't want to admit this but now you've been outted. You just don't have enough mirror neurons.

Now you've got another bona fide reason to justify your poor play.

Or maybe it's just your unadulterated lazy arse that's holding you back. :killingme:

I do not have any excuse other than I did not put the time in to learn from my mistakes. I am still to lazy to do that and do not have the time these days so will stay a bad player and bet on a good one. LOL

SPending to much time at the table practicing the wrong $h!t.See it all the time. But the number one reason we play bad is.....BAD STARTER BALL.:p

Number one reason I see people play badly is not being able to handle pressure.

Back when I had all the time in the world to play pool I didn't have a clue what I was doing.

Now, for the most part I think have this game figured out, but I don't have nearly enough time to work on all my flaws.

Time is my biggest enemy.

This would probably be a good subject for another thread but there are things that I just simply don't work on because I just don't see the return on investment at this point.

I really don't spend enough time on kicking, banking, and breaking. The breaking is starting to kill me. I need to work on that but I still have a hard time justifying the time. It's getting close though.

Tick...tick....tick....tick...

If I played better my friends wouldn't want to play with me anymore.
I'd have to move to a new neighbourhood.

Seconded... by the time I'm done with everything I have to do in a day, I may have two hours to practice. If I'm lucky, I have enough energy for one.

For what it's worth - this is really about being my 300th post - but for what it's worth, I need to work on...

1. banking and kicking
2. safety play
3. combos, caroms and billiards
4. Making shots with center ball (why is THAT so hard?)
5. Been working on my break lately with improvements, but more to go.

Fatz

Bad habits from my developmental years and the lack of time to practice, relearn, and fix them keep me from getting to the next level.

With all due respect - there's just too many a-holes & rif raf that have disenchanted me.

I (obviously) still love the GAME, but I'm just not motivated enough (primarily due to my 1st line on this post) to take it too seriously now.

An A- player,

Matt

i agree, thinking too much and not doing it is devastating!

Switching from one aiming systen to another to another to another might hold you back a bit. Johnnyt

I see a lot of players that don't put in the time to play like the players that do, and then get upset when they don't play like the players that put in a lot of time working on their games. I am one of those players that has put in a lot of time working on becoming a better player, and I think it is starting to pay off. I will probably reach a point where my limitations, age and eyesight, will limit my improvement, but I don't think I'm to that point yet.

I retired last year and have played almost every day since. I've also purchased some very good dvd's on aiming and banks, and I have another coming from Lee Brett. I also have some other tapes and dvd's that I use when I practice alone so I'm not just banging balls around.

I've played pool for a long time but never had the time to devote to it because like a lot of other guys, I had a "real" job, and I'm glad I did because I have the ability to do what I want to a certain extent now, and don't have to worry about where the rent and grocery money will be coming from, but you never know. I've learned the hard way not to take things for granted.

I am going to Tunica in July and have been to the Derby the last 3 years since they moved it to the Horseshoe. I used to go to the Akron Open at Starcher's and to the Glass City Open every year in Toledo but they are no longer. I would like to make it to the U.S. Open this year, but I can't say for certain. What I can say for certain is for the first time in my life I am doing mostly what I want to do and not what I have to do to get by, so for me life is good and pool is fun cause I make it that way for me.

Thank you JoeyA for starting this thread because I've been wanting to write this for a long time. You are one of my favorite posters among others that I always pay special attention to what they write. You helped convince me to get the Lee Brett dvd.

You're welcome lstevedus and thanks for the nice compliment.

I want to take this moment to mention that I have watched Lee Brett's video SEVERAL times and each time that I watch it I find something else that I missed in previous viewing sessions. I genuinely believe that Coach Lee Brett has provided a MAJOR instructional video for the masses to improve their game. I really don't know of any video that I can single out that covers so much of the game. Coach Lee pounds home point after point and it actually so much information that it is almost impossible to take it all in and utilize it after only a couple of viewings.

I use the elliptical machine for 38 minutes and I just let Coach Lee's video run while i do my workout. I think that it is actually helping my game because some of the things are sinking in.

Hope you get as much benefit from Coach Lee's video as I have received.
Maybe we will see each other at Tunica. I still haven't concreted any plans for Tunica but it is in the makings...
