Mark...Being from out of the U.S., you may not be acquainted with Priceline.com. As someone who stays in hotels some 200+ nights a year, almost ALL of my hotel stays are booked through my wife (who has the title of 'Dean of Navigation'), through either www.Hotwire.com or www.Priceline.com. She routinely books three star hotels, where the rack rate is $100-$150/night, for about $60/night. That saves a LOT of money, and you always have a nice place to stay (well, not ALWAYS, but out of 200 there might be 2-3 that are not what they're supposed to be).
BTW, often we book these rooms, from my laptop, while we're on the road, sometimes while we're driving around, in the same geographical area...sometimes just a few minutes before we want to stop for the night (other times she books them days or weeks in advance).

bfdlad said:Anyway after Sticks we needed to find another hotel close to our evening engagement and we are trying to be very tight with our expenses and so Earl and I ended up in a Crack house type of motel that to be honest scared me. Johnny was going to stay with Jay that night as he had the Modern Marvels show to tape for the history channel early the next morning. it took us a while to find a cheap hotel as everything around Ontario Mills was in the $150 range and so AGAIN we did not have much time to relax.
