The story behind the Jackot cues

It's amazing people are defending this guy. A while back I was selling a quite unique cue. Well Deanoc decided he wanted it and just deluged my inbox with not only insultingly low offers but long diatribes about how I wouldnt be able to sell it and how he was entitled to lower pricing because he is so important to the pool industry. I had to repeatedly tell him to take a hike. I assume he does that a lot and some cave.

Oh Well, at least possible

Dean did say he sent dollars to the Philippines I believe. Would be the smart thing to do because they can buy cues that will hold up in that climate for a tiny fraction of what even a Schmelke costs. Most Philippine cues are junk soon after coming to the US due to the major climate change. Edwin Reyes and a few more went to great efforts to dry and preserve wood for the American and European markets. I'm sure that others still do, I just don't remember who and don't want to put out bad info.

The catch to the good works done with the money is that according to my high level cyphering this last round of cues didn't net but maybe $4500-$5500. By all reports Dean could dip into his own pocket for that kind of money and never miss it. No months wait, no headaches.

Scam.

All those builds were to benefit him and not anyone else. Wanting to help people but it's to help himself first and indirectly may benefit others.

One time he was looking for a Schon Merry Widow. I had a grey stained one at the time. I had a fair price. He tells me that dealers get them for far less than my price.

Become a dealer, get one from Schon then.

FWIW, I've never sold a cue on here, or even posted one for sale.

However, one member kept making post after post that he would like to have an XXX cue, so I sent him a message and said that I had one that I would be willing to sell because it just sits in the closet. Also, I had three new cues being made and I needed the case space to put them.

This cue is NEW but is a model that is several years old and isn't being made anymore and that is what he was looking for. There are a couple on line and I provide him a link showing that the prices are over $900 to buy them.

I offer a couple hundred bucks less than he can get one for.

He says, sounds like a good deal, but doesn't get back with me.

A few days later, he wants it for less, so I drop about another $100 off and he says, that sounds really good, I'll hustle up some money or something like that.

Then later he comes back and wants me to drop more and at that point I told him to get lost.

It wasn't Dean.

No doubt. Buyers always vanish just as the sale gets close. Par for the course.

My point was trying to use inside info that I couldn’t verify, nor accept as I didn’t pay a dealer price.

At least he wasted less of my time than your guy.

That cue is gone and saw it posted for more a week later, by that buyer.

Dean would have just said it was for his grandkids and offered you $300 and a story, much quicker

This guy was trying to do the same thing.

He kept saying his friend who KNEW cues and was a cue guy said that he could get it for way less than what I was asking, even when I made my bottom price I was willing to let it go for. I can sell the cue here and probably get close to what anybody is selling one online for, but I wasn't even thinking of selling it until he posted he was looking for one.

Friend, Reliable Source, or Experts say, is code words for tying to haggle you down on price, IMHO.

Have been told the same thing many times. My reply was it's my price, if you can do better else where. Get it from that scorce.

Than I would say we are done talking about the item I For Sale.

Sometimes people can drive you crazy if you let them.

Friend use to use this line, it not for quibbling, it's for sale.

I’m willing to bet the offender is posting in this thread (it’s not me).

Yep, been there many times.

When I had an auto-salvage people had a bad habit of telling me what stuff I owned was worth. Other times I would be in a hurry, ask somebody their best price, and if I didn't like it I would leave. They would try to negotiate after I had asked for best price, nope, I am moving on to something else. Now I won't buy at any price.

I was no different when people asked me best price. Somebody asked me best price for my business. I thought a few minutes and told them. Five or ten minutes later they asked if I would take ten thousand less than my best price. I told them that they had asked for best price and gotten it. We would talk about what went and what stayed but I wouldn't take a penny less. I wasn't woofing!

...I can see Shawn Armstrong is a Canadian who can't handle the AMERICAN politics in that forum, as well. Now I see why they are all on here trying to stir up some sort of ruckus with me, but it doesn't bother me. I can handle anything they can dish out.

I'll sick my polar bear on you, you tropical beach livin' mofo. :D

This beach ain't worth a damn during lock down.

I can look out my window right now and see probably 25 miles of beach and water. All the way from Waikiki and Diamond Head on the south side to the entire bottom half of the west side of the island.

If you can't go down to it and get in the water, you may as well be looking at it on TV or online.

The beach is about 10 minutes down the mountain from where I live.

Send the polar bear this way and have it bring a snow cone. It is hot and sunny here and it just turned 11:00 A.M.

I am of a similar attitude. I hate the haggling culture. I know, I know, its as old as time itself. Doesn't mean I like it. If I see something at a price that I like, I'll buy it.

I hate buying cars because of this.

Years back, when I was still making cue cases, Dean kept bugging me, trying to get a case..... At a discount of course.

He would tell me how he "was a dealer" and I was supposed to give him "dealer pricing".

After laughing at his repeated requests for a discount, I contacted a few other people who make stuff in the pool world. Yep, I wasnt the only one who had been given the "Im a dealer, I deserve a discount" bullshit.

See, ol Dean thinks people are either stupid enough to believe him, or stupid enough to give up their own profit thinking that he will somehow help build their reputation if he gives you a good review.

To this day I wonder if he figured out why I never made him a case.

I kinda doubt it.

Hello Jim , The Guy you are referring to is me . You do not have to be bashful about it and please don't hold back. I am the one who was looking for a Adam Balabushka Cue , Jim contacted me and said he had one he would sell me for I believe it was either $750 or somewhere in that neighborhood. I really would like to have had that cue as I believe what he said about it he just shot 1 rack with it. I like to haggle , there is a asking price and a selling price. You never know until you ask. I grew up were you had to work for what you had and a lot of times not a lot of money to due it with . So after a pm or 2 I think he offered to sell it to me for $ 650 plus 25.00 shipping to me. I have a guy who does my repair work who also knows what cues are worth since he has been in the Business since 1970 , I never said he could get it cheaper , but he told me that that was bit steep because those cues do not sell well in the area and since 1970 he has only seen 3-4 come thru . Not a popular cue. A brand new unchalked adam balabushka sold for $ 325.00 on here a few months ago. So with that after thinking about it I never try to buy anything I cannot get my money back out of so I said I decided not to Buy it and Apologized several times for it and also apologized for wasting his time. I also have a situation that I am dealing with that put me in a bind also which was unforeseen and that is the biggest reason I had to say no. For the record tho what does that have to do with this current situation with you and these Jackpot cues. If you are upset about me not buying it you should have contacted me directly the Pm feature works still I believe. But so You guys do not have to wonder who this is he is referring to I will save you all some time . Thanks Randall
