With all of these challenge matches being proposed, I figured I would toss this out there for everybody.

Who out there would pay to see this one?

King of The Bar Table
Scotty Townsend VS Keith McCready
Bar Box 9 ball
No Bet Limit
Unplugged
UNCENSORED
Uncut

....complete with backers, side action, - let them be who they are - let 'em play until one of them runs out the match or runs out of money. The winner gets Matlock in the next challenge - then we can toss in Nevel, Bowman, McMinn, other bar box monsters that have the backing and the cash.

Make it real.

Make it raw.

Make it entertaining.

Make it happen.

Fatboy, you listenin'? Give me a call.

Let's do this.

Keith, we can make this happen. Let me know. Your fans will be tripping over themselves to watch this one and I'm sure we can make this worth your while.

If anybody out there wants to help put this one together - get with me and let's make it happen. Serious inquiries only.

Any rooms willing to volunteer to host this one?

Anyone out there want to back Keith?

Anyone want to back Scotty?

I'm willing to organize this to make it happen - let me know.

;)

Our room would love to host. I will offer my home for Keith or even both of them to stay if this works out. We are also not too far from Scotty's home.

I'd pay to watch. Better yet, if you could make this happen in Central/Southern FL I'll be there.

iba7467,
You are so lucky!

How come nobody ever offers to play challenge matches or host great tournaments here where I live? Oh, wait a minute...there's no pool rooms left in Washington, Pa. Between here and Wheeling, WVa, there is a total of ZERO pool rooms.
My basement pool room has a 9 foot Brunswick and room for 6 railbirds (7 if they're little enough to scrunch close together). :D

Blackjack, I wish you all the best in this endeaver! What a fine match up also! I say they're about even right now ability wise AND jawing wise. The thing with this match is you have 2 great players that just about everybody likes! How could anyone NOT like these two?

Good luck in bringing this to fruition.

I also have a 9' Diamond at home that I am certain some individuals from my area would pay for some lessons or play some cheap sets for the experience. If this can happen, I would try to record everything.

Dave, this is a dream matchup, only one thing though. You said unplugged? Nah Nah brother you gotta have em mic'ed up

Mic'd up and

UNSENSORED

I'm still waiting for the first PM or phone call.

In this matchup, the money talks and the bull*hit walks. These guys aren't going to get into the box unless its worth their time and energy.

I am willing to put this one together. I have nothing else to do for the next two months. Who is willing to help make this happen?

These are the two of the greatest players to ever play the game. They are IMO, the most entertaining players in history.

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure we can get beer company to sponsor this one easily.

:p

Who within the industry is willing to work towards making this happen?

I am not stepping over TAR - in fact I would welcome their input and possible participation, although I would like to see the players get an appearance fee - and for the players to paid in the same way that fighters are paid. Winner gets the cash and the title "Bar Table King" and a percentage of what this would make in dvd sales.

I am also open to working with anybody in the industry that is willing to try something different in an attempt to get pool back on the map.

"Good ol' boy club" veterans need not apply. In fact I'll throw THEM out the door personally.

Its about combining our current resources within our game and directing all of our energy towards a common purpose for the good of the game. This is long overdue.

We as AZ members could donate $$$ to fill the prize fund. This donation of say $100 could also include the live feed (if available) and tickets to the event. This way, no backers are needed and the players are guaranteed $$$. The winner should obviously be paid more.

The players could also be paid equally a percentage of the door charge at the pool room and a percentage of DVD sales. I believe this would be most beneficial to all.

If it goes down in the Maryland/DC area near Keith I will be there and will pay to watch. If not, please put it out on DVD. I'll buy a copy no matter how many discs it takes. I just cant sit in front of the computer for hours watching pool on a streaming feed.

We have to dump that mentality right now.

There is a market for this match-up within our small little pocket billiard world. The trick is to make this attractive to those with $$$ outside of our little world.

Having posters on a forum donating $10-$20 isn't professional, and it isn't a very stable form of funding. Ask the IPT.

We have a product.

We need to market it. We need to package it correctly. We need to kick the rest of the world (outside of our little bubble) right in the ass with what we have to offer in the way of action, excitement, drama, entertainment, and marketing value.

Free live feeds doesn't pay the bills and it doesn't pay the players what they deserve. Backers could be corporate sponsors for the players that could provide cash for each player for this event - say $20K per player - think BIG.

We have the resources to make this happen right now.

We have the equipment. We have the people. We have the minds with the ideas. We could either make this happen, or we can continue to use our energy to flip cues and argue about religion and shaft deflection.

It has to be professional, and it has to funded correctly if it is to survive. We have already learned that lesson over and over.

Blackjack, I like the way you're thinking. :D

That sounds like a great idea. I'm in, and I'm sure Scotty would be too.

Me and Scotty have battled on a bar table lots of times, and it is a grudge match between us, but in a good way. I did happen to play him on a 4-1/2-by-9 one time and beat him over there in New Orleans, but on a bar table, it's different. He's subject to knock me in the tub, and I'm subject to knock him in the tub.

Scotty is one of my all-time favorite players, and he's also one of my best friends in the pool world. I wouldn't trade him for nothing.

Unsensored would be a lot of fun. If people want entertainment, instead of robot pool, this match-up will definitely be one to remember, and a classic to boot.

Best time for me would be in July or August. :)

Keith,

In our past conversations, I have always told you that path to getting the world to open its eyes to pool ran through your cue, and your ability to reach the fans that nobody else can. I will stay in contact with you, and believe me, we will make this happen.

Sounds good to me, David. Let me know if anything materializes. I can get a hold of Scotty as well. :)
