I have never heard of a poolhall where there were 15 people willing to play even in 1-pocket, I don't think it exists except in a tournament.

I told you you can't try to rob. I have never played a game of banks in my life and I have watched you drill a very good player in that game I would have to pass unless I become brain damaged at which point I might consider it.

I know tall Phil would play you even in 1-pocket but probably you would have to give some weight to get games with the other 1-pocket players.

Like I said I have very rarely had a problem getting a game there but I am willing to give up a lot of weight to some of the players in order to play.

Wayne

Excuse me Wayne. Is it "trying to rob" to get an even game, when you only play about once every three or four months. These guys live in there. I think it is a little out of line, that I come once in six months and they ask me for weight. And they play every day.

So you mean there are 15 guys who would play me if I matched up with them. No thanks. I really don't care to give up weight on those super Ernesto tight tables. How would you like to give me 8-6 on one of those tight boxes. I know you beat everyone around L.A. these days. And I'm retired, since I closed the poolroom.

I have never tried to rob anyone in a pool hall. It's just not my style. I always looked for an even game. That's all. I don't even know Tall Phil. How does he play? What do you give him?

I will give u a hint. For your big tournament in LA in 1993 when Mark Tadd won the ?Banks and placed high in 9 ball I sent my entry fee to play 9 Ball and collect points to qualify to Mens Pro Billiards Tour but I did not show up.Subsequently we met on three different occasions.More than 5 years ago we chatted in the bar in that Indian Reservation Casino out side Sandiego during WPBA event. Our recent meetings in Las Vegas were very brief for a minute or two. I am ugly looking old man and does not want to post my photo.I do not want to post my real name on the internet.Cheers

You can ask Tang how Phil plays, I think they played quite a bit a week or two ago for some decent amount. I think they played even but the only way Phil could hang with Tang even is because Tang is out of stroke. I normally spot Phil a ball or two but since I rarely get to play anymore he played me even the last time we played and beat me. If we ever end up in the same poolhall I will make a game with you and play.

So you would play "out of stroke" Tang even then? I wanna see this. And if Phil "hangs" with Tang I want no part of him.

If either one of you would like to play Tang a 1K match, I believe I can arrange it.

Thanks Stanton. Brian was giving me 9-7 and I didn't win either. He was a killer in those days. He'd turn that hat around backwards and never miss a ball.

I always play Tang even. However, I only play him cheap. For a high stakes match I would need some weight.

I wouldn't have asked you to bet that high.

Hi Satman,
I lived in Muncie for three months in 1995.I did NOT want to mess with that Jones guy.He wanted to play for 3000 $ a set but I backed off.
You must be talking about Troy. He's like that. He don't like to play at all. Back at that point, I couldn't have played one pocket for more than $20-30 a game. He has the edge at one pocket and we're real close at bank. 8-ball and and 9-ball is kind of a toss up. If there's not much money on the line, I've got the egde in both those games, simply because I love to play. Sam

I am not sure about that. I always believed that Louis Viera could make John his HO if John would play him, and Louis works like a sick hours at his shop.

Thats a joke. DiToro was three time player of the year on the Florida tour and tour champion as well. I know Luis for a long time, he works hard at his bodyshop, he plays pretty sporty and I'm not taking a thing away from him but in John's hayday...Luis didnt have to like it period.

If we're talking about "best ever" players with a full time job, unless I'm mistaken, didn't Joe Balsis have a full time job?

Your right Jimmy...Joe was a butcher by trade. My biased opinion of Johnny D. is more of a inside joke between JG-in-Ky and myself, though he really does/did play well for working 40hrs a week!!

Ditoro was good in early 90s and was better than Luis at that time.I think Luis peaked around mid 90s.Am I correct?

John was playing great pool when I met him in 1980, he was a hundred ball runner, played lights out 9-Ball and faired well in tournaments. I was luck enuff to travel with him and Tom Brown in the mid 80's when they were affectionatly known as "Miami Vice". John placed well on the Florida tour for many years until he started working the Seminole 10-Ball tour as a TD...which is no walk in the park.
