My friend. I appreciate your opinion and you know I respect it. But I go back to the human equation. You maybe underestimating Mercedes. And head to head a lot of things can happen. Remember in Louisville in the a.m. when sweat was dripping off our face. It had to be 90 degrees in there excluding the slate! I kicked your a**. Wouldn't you say that was a fluke? Ha Ha
I'd still like to see the best 3c woman in the world against the best 3c U.S. woman play.

I think there are quite a few women listed on Therese's site that would be worthy opponents.
I have sent a proposal to the USBA to help facilitate exhibition matches between Therese and Mercedes. These women are good ambassadors for our game. Pool halls can sign up for the exhibition match. They only need to cover a motel bill if applicable and any promotional info to bring in a crowd.
These talented ladies will represent the USBA and any sponsors that comes forward.

of course therese, on the slow boat to china, would be the victor..
of course the lesser player with heart, determination... yadda yadda CAN win but let's face it.. not as likely when the better player is nearly 50% better.
but, with the sets format it starts to level the playing field a little. anyways, bet what you guys want but....
i say use this dastardly duo b/w bill and steve to promote the game some how. let's live stream it and get people watching!! this should be a precursor to the wc or nats like somebody suggested. i think bill and steve should split their travel expenses and then bet whatever they want.
p.s. if you want to pay my travel expenses i'll come live stream it for free!! if it's around the world cup tournament i'll be there anyways so mabye we can work it out for that timing.

One thing I am sure of, you have not done much GAMBLING in your life, it takes TWO people to have a WAGER, not just BARKING we "FINALLY have a bet", but just to appease you, I'll let you lay me the same odds I offered you. You take Mazin and lay me 8-5 on the money, as long as they play MORE than 1 game, and they can play 15 pts., 20 pts., 25 pts., ect..ect.
I really do think your trying to stimulate and support 3 cushion billiards in the US, but this "Barnum & Baily" approach IMHO is the wrong avenue. How many pool players in this country do you think know who Therese, Mercedes, or even Mazin Shooni is?, maybe 2% if that. This is the pool where we ALL will draw NEW players from, 98% of all 3 cushion players come from a pocket billiards background, you just don't grab any SMUCK off the street and ask if they want to learn 3 cush, they'll look at you like you're from planet MONGO!
What's needed in 3 cushion is QUALIFIED people to educate pool players in the rooms ACROSS the country where a billiard table is available in thier local room. I proposed this type of idea 25 years ago when I changed my style of game to the ABA in an open letter in the Billiards Digest. Naturally the usual answers, NO money, NO time to devote, NO sponsers, same old BS, you know.
What Paul Frankel is doing is a start with the matches, what also is needed at that venue is to have those players contribute information in the form of clinics inbetween the matches to TEACH the game to newcomers not just try to hightlight thier talents. In this day and age people still like to be entertained, but mostly with the high tech age, people really want to be INFORMED, and that's what's needed to create NEW players, not side show acts!
As I've become Pre-Golden age, I realize we really don't live forever and the clock is ticking. So here is My proposal to Anyone, group or room owner where 3 cushion billiards tables are present. I'll be available for EDUCATIONAL clinics with at least 6 students for NO FEE, Just my EXPENSES PAID, Air Fare, Ground Transportation, Lodging and Food.
Let's see if we have any REALLY concerned supporter's for this Facinating, captivating, and sadly to say a declining game!

Gambler....Barker...Hmmm...there is a difference? I've been around pool halls my whole life. And there is a difference? Mr. 3Cushion, it's your story, you tell it any way you want!
But it's not about us. I agree with 95% of everything you said. The 5 % difference is in the "magic bullet theory" you subscribe to. Several tactics need to be imployed simultaneously. The game needs to be promoted on many fronts. And the front you are an expert at is teaching. I will not diminish the importance of that. Whether you appreciate my contributions or tactics is not really relevant is it?
All I know is your offer to teach is a wonderful thing and I wish you the best.

Bill, if this happens in southwest MI (within a 100 mile radius of Grand Rapids), I'll donate my time, equipment and fuel cost to live stream (if internet connection is available) or record for later broadcast.
Perhaps 3 stops in this area, Niles, Grand Rapids and Lansing with your expenses being split between the 3 rooms.
I'd be willing to travel further, within a 8 hour drive, but would need to have my expenses covered. Only expenses are fuel and lodging.
