This a good Cue?

unlike everyone else, i'm not going to recomend any particular cue or brand to you. what i recomend, is, if your not already, become a regular somewhere, in tournements on league or whatever. get to know the other people around playing and try out thier cues. find something you like the hit of and then look at one of that manufacturers or makers models in a price range you can more readily afford.

there really isn't all that much difference between models from the same maker. ie: a $100 lucasi is going to play pretty much the same as a $400 lucasi and so on.

just by price alone or listing to what other people like, all that is going to accomplish is getting oyu a cue you most likely arent going to like. if you find a cue that you liek how it plays and you like how it looks, bugers to anyone else that makes comments about your choice.

if you already know your diggin the hybrid, go for it. $100 off your budget is really not that much in comparison and it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks as long as your happy with your choice and liek what you have.

Just a thought and I might get ripped for this, but you can find some Meucci's on eBay pretty cheap also. They are not bad cues for a first one.

What about a Nick Varner. Went to the local billiard store and saw one. Looks really nice, he let me hit it and it was really smooth had good cue ball control with it. The price is 107. what do you think?

Made in China.

If you're not into lavish adornments and wanting just a solid player, I would look at a low-end JOSS.....all business.

I currently own a Cuetec, Players, Meucci, Lucasi(s) , and a Universal Smart Shaft Cue. (as well as several other production cues). Listen to SOCKS's post! get something you like! FYI I paid $30 for the cuetec and it was prettymuch brand new! the pawn shop had it in there for so long that they just wanted to get rid of it! even gave me a "Cuetec brand" soft case for it!!! guess what...same model you were looking at!! (Burgandy instead) trust me, dont do it! if your getting serious about the sport, I think you'd be happy with the Lucasi, but if you could let go of "looks" and want pure talent for a good price, find that Huebler!!

I really don't get whats wrong with this one? Cuetec.
http://www.pooldawg.com/product/cuetec-ct273-99273-black-finish-pool-cue-stick

The OP posted it, and afterward someone said "No-one here will tell you to buy that cue" but why? I would tell him to buy it tbh, I played with it, and its really nice.

It's not an attacking post ofcourse.. I'm a no expert, but i'm curious myself as of why "No-one will tell him to buy it" whats wrong with it.thanks

Stick with what john says. You can't get a better price and quality for $120 on this Dominiak Cue:

http://www.dominiakcues.com/wd1020.html

After playing for some time, you will kick yourself for going with cuetec. Schmelke isn't bad either in that price range. I recommend also checking out ebay and maybe snapping up a cheap Falcon or Joss.

Cheers!

I think it depends on which Dominiak made the cue. The older ones are much better in quality than the ones made today. I would buy an older Dominiak in a heartbeat, but the newer one I bought was junk!

my personal opinion? they have a proprietary pin and the worst shafts I've ever seen....

Beside the sticky shaft, what else is wrong with the Cuetec?

ps. they might use cheap/low grade wood.

I respect your personal opinion. but I was just trying to see why:) and for the shaft I agree. but for me I use an OB-1 or 314 shaft for my cuetec butt and it hits really really nice. and I love the butt, and how the grib is handled.. I been playing with cuetec for so long. and now I can't imagine using different butt, because to be honest i haven't ever found any butt that feels like cuetec when i handle the grib...and thats my opinion too:)

I know this is a little late, but for the price...you can't really go wrong with a 5280. A buddy of mine has one, it's a solid cue. Cory Deuel plays with them as well...or at least he used to...not sure what he's shooting with these days.

I think it all comes down to the feel of the cue. You've kind of implied that a $100+ cue is a "high end" cue, which is exactly the opposite. I've gone through about 10 or so different cues as I've progressed in my pool playing and I'm now entering the world of custom cues. I can truly say however, when I was playing with the Players cues (which are great starter cues) if I would have hit with a custom cue I would have never noticed a difference in hit. It comes down to your level of play and your preference in feel. I have seen very good players pick up a $25 players sneaky and string racks together. There is no reason you can't do the same. Just because Pro A uses a specific brand of cue that costs hundreds of dollars and makes all these amazing shots doesn't mean that if you go out and buy that cue that you are going to become a pro on the table. My suggestion, when you are at your level do more research at your local pool hall and pool shop. Go there, I'm sure there are demo cues at the pool shop that you can hit around on and find one you like the feel of. Don't put too much money into it, around $100 is perfect for a first cue for someone serious, because if you get better you'll soon be looking for a more custom feel from a cue and start searching out the builder that matches your own style.

hopefully that helps a bit...

The high-end cues of the 5280 uses 3/8 thread. Nice solid hit, but I don't like the feel of the wood.

IMO a Players or Action Sneaky or even any of hte basci players or Action cues are one of the best if not the best Starter cues out there.........also the Players Sneakies make a damn fine break cue!!!!!!!

??? Which Cue To Buy ???

I think your question was asked and answered..............
'Cornerstone'. A very good cue with a lifetime waranty from a very reputable dealer with a reputation for standing behind his product.
What ever you decide, good luck with your choice.
