"No Bars, no pinball machines, no bowling alley just pool this is Ames Mister!" Now in the shadow of the closing of Steinway, how long do you think a pool room would stay open if they used this as their business model? It's no wonder why so many rooms have closed here in the states with today's business climate. Sad state of affairs for pool in this country.

Covid created ALLOT of empty space.
If one could find good parking, a good building, good location with HVAC and tons of square footage for next to nothing, it definitely would work. You then could have ''all ages'' in there w/o liquor and do a full blow soda fountain bar with lime rickeys, chilled root beer on tap in mugs , Chicago Hot dogs. With this setup, your insurance rates would be Great, comparing to one that had liquor.

I'll go to the bar and have beers while I play, but I usually don't have one when I shoot at a pool hall. A good non alcoholic selection could bring in more money than just regular soft drinks. After covid and the rise of work from home, I've heard there's a lot of unoccupied office space.

I think there are two different types of liquor licenses here in TN.
One allows the sale of beer and such, and one allows the sale of hard alcohol.
I suppose it could have something to do with a kitchen on the premises idk.

I work in a fairly large corporate office building. Pre Covid there were between 300-400 people in there a day. Now with work from home and everything else, 30-40 is a full house.

problem is good business people dont open pool rooms very often. so only dreamers and bad ones do and so they go broke.
The cost of rental space in New York, California and Chicago make it very difficult to operate. In Texas, Houston in particular you cant go two miles in any direction and not find a Pool Hall that doesn't have 20 tables, thriving leagues and Action.

It location, location, location, Pool Hall, sports bar, restaurant, night club, location, location, location.

I always want a nice pool room with a bunch of 9 foot tables. The necessary evil is tons of 7 foot tables playing leagues as they pay the bills.

I think pool rooms today need as many revenue streams as possible, so food, full bar, etc.

One of the poolrooms that I used to go often, had CherryMaster slots. The owner told me that they made him more money than the bar and the pool room. I have been in pool rooms that had poker games (both legal and illegal).
