This Is Really Messed UP...

In this China Open match between Jeremy Sossei & Oscar D watch what happens on the pushout at 22:40. We're talking almost a diamond. :(

And if that weren't enough I was told first hand about Oscar attempting either a masse or jump shot that required his behind to rest on the table corner and when he put it there, the balls started to roll. :yikes:

I have enough problems with my game, I don't want bad equipment robbing me, too.

That's it, I'm cancelling my order for my new Kanghom table.

That is the UGLIEST bad roll I have ever seen. I think it's a lesson to EVERYONE that you should check the rolls on the table and refuse to play if they are like that. Furthermore the referee should have stopped the match and had the table fixed.

Imagine if there was an equally bad problem with the court at Wimbledon? Surely they wouldn't allow play to continue.

Actually Oscar was checking the rolls before the lag and you can see how bad it is. Amazing that the match even was allowed to start.

Maybe it's not the table...

It appears that he used a standard shaft to roll out.
I would recommend that he use a low deflection shaft to roll out from now on.

If you ever want to link to a specific part of a youtube video just pause the player. Then right click the player and select the "Get Video at current time URL." Then you an share the video without having to mention a specific time.

this was a valuable suggestion and it works like a charm. Thank you, sir!

however, on this particular video, when I try to save it at 22:40 it rolls off to about 23:05. :grin-square::eek::grin-square:

rd some terrorist

Where is the WPA on the trash table's? Oh, I'm sorry, lost my head for a sec there. WPA will probably be moving to China or Qatar soon anyway. I heard some terrorist group was *****ing to Qatar about spending so much on pool. They said they need more $ for arms and training against America. Johnnyt

So I just got the chance to watch that video. That is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Particle board tables from sears play better than that.

A small nit.... I learned how to play on a particle board table from Sears and I learned how to aim full-ball at a spot shot to make it at reasonable speed. I think that Sears table played worse than the "tables" at the China Open.

It is strange that mechanics from the manufacturer weren't on the tables immediately. I guess they don't care about bad publicity.

I started play pool on this kind of wooden slate almost 30 years ago, and I believe Kanghom table is far from cheaply made. The roll must have caused by careless installation. As you quoted, the WPA equipement specification mandate a 1" minimal slate thickness, Kanghom may have listed 2cm(less than 1" slate tables in their catalog, but the mainstream pool halls in China are filled with 4cm slates and their surface flatness were almost never a problem. I don't think Kanghom provided their low end product to be used in the tournament. IMO, that huge roll on youtube must have caused by bad shimming.

I was told by someone who competed in this event that, pretty much, all of the tables had problems with rolling off and I already mentioned how when Oscar put his behind up on the table corner for a shot the balls started to roll.:thud:

More messed up:

In this very same tourney, Ga Young Kim scratched on her lag shot. Yes, during the lag her ball rolled off so badly on the way back up table it went into the pocket where she was shooting from.

Maybe they should have issued mudballs for this event for the full funhouse effect.
