This Match - Reviewing the Tape So Far

Well I am awake editing video and have some time to kill as it imports and renders. I have watched it all obviously as I am at the controls and its one hell of a match as I am sure many of you have seen.

I have the luxury of reviewing the footage each night as I compile some highlights from it. The match is much closer then the score is showing.

Some interesting stuff is that Scott lost if I counted right 4 games where he had a 7-0 or so ball lead which doesn't happen often. He also lost 3 or 4 games where it came down to the last ball or 2. Today he was down 4 games and had a 7-0 lead which you figure he would get it to just a 3 game deficit but lost the game.

The score could easily be the other way but most who tune in only see the score and not what transpired in the set. Scott has not performed to his best and Dennis has played phenomenal along with getting the better of the rolls a couple of times. Dennis also shakes things off it seems fairly well and Scott needs more time to do so.

I have been so impressed by Dennis and his ball pocketing and banking ability. If he had an off day though it would spell trouble because if some of these shots don't go it would be costly which kind of reminds you of Efren and how they would say he is shooting the wrong shot. It is the right shot if you can execute it so although it might not be the right shot for most mere mortals we can throw that out the window in this match.

Scott beat Dennis to the shot more times then not but did not capitalize always. Scott didn't always punish Dennis when he sold out sometimes only getting a couple balls and stuck when he could have gotten out.

I know some mentioned Dennis playing Alex and it would be fun to see but this match isn't over yet. I know Scott is a big dog from here but don't count him out yet. It has been a hell of a match so far.

I thank those who have been respectful of both players, the backers, the sponsors, myself and of course this game we all love. See you guys in less than 12 hours for the final day of this match. Your support is appreciated. Thanks!

Great show buddy! Yeah, it's the classic AK vs QQ matchup here. It's a flip it, or can the knowledge be overcome by skill? I bet on the skill, but there are only a few who I would bet on skill wise. Gotta give Scott credit, he jumped into the ring with a bad mofo.
Btw, this is the first time I have bet on Dennis.

Scott has been the face of 1 pocket, at least in the US for a long time - he deserves some credit for it's popularity.

I honestly have lukewarm feelings for either player. Scott, because he lets his emotions get the better of him, though his talent and knowledge are undeniable... so much respect to him. Unfamiliarity with Dennis. I've seen him around the scene for many years and know he likes to match up at the drop of a hat for obvious reasons... but I've just never warmed to him despite his prodigious skill set.

Both players are world class, and I am just grateful that such a large splash has been made in the cause of promoting one pocket. It really is a worthy game for everyone. People just beginning to play pool can benefit greatly from playing the game. It's not just for uber-experienced killing machines with OCD that enjoy theoretical physics as a hobby.

I think Mr. Frost is not done yet. Be the fool that makes the mistake assuming he has no heart.

Thanks again Lenny for your gift to all of us.

One measure of a top player is the method he turns he table over.

Lenny raises an interesting point with scott '...running a few balls and getting stuck'. I wonder how many innings were ended on an error, vs by plan?

I sure as hell wouldn't count it out and don't suggest anyone figure it out... just justin3785-65'n the matter.

I think it's tough to read in analysis if match as neither player is the most popular with fans for behaviors unbecoming of a sportsman in the past

However I think simply Dennis executes better than Scott
If he doesn't execute (has an off day) yes it will be closer but isn't that what
Separates players? Dennis can execute more often than not which why he can beat Scott at a game he has no right doing so

I think Thorpe beats both these guys for the cheese

Why is anyone saying that losing a rack where you have a 7-0 lead means it is close? When you lose MULTIPLE 7-0 ahead racks, you are clearly the inferior player. If I were playing by the rack, and I was getting stalled aside from my leads being obliterated, I would have already found a better game.

Dennis pulverizes Scott's terrible choices. Dennis also held his break 95% of the time. There's a reason I offered 10-1 for people to take Scott yesterday, and it wasn't because I was gambling.

Because Scott has outplayed DO in the early game to get up 7-0 in many, many racks.

The fact that Scott has lost those racks does indeed prove Dennis is the better player in the END GAME.

The fact that Scott has gotten these types of ball count leads shows that he is very competitive in the EARLY GAME.

No doubt winning is what it's about. While I would bet on Dennis in a rematch, I wouldn't give up odds or feel like it was a lock. I'd be betting on Dennis making a string of great comebacks, game after game. And it might not work out this way again.

I still think Scott would have a hard time putting a guy like Dennis away, but then again when Scott has played back at him Dennis has shown some weakness. If Scott won a couple of those end games and DO had scratched on one or two of those shots where his cue ball raced towards the pocket and hung up corner hooking Scott it could have been very interesting.

In summary, Dennis does execute better, he is proving he has what it takes to beat Scott, and he is going to most likely get the cheese. By winning he establishes that he is the favorite in this match up. It simply isn't a lock and while he is an underdog I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott win a set off him in the future.

I think Frost said in the interview that he felt the game was in his favor if it went longer and up table. But because DO seemingly makes every bank it actually favors DO. Plus Frost is getting fried and impatient too easily later in the games.

The other thing is, Frost left DO some dead cluster shots, and if SO played better position, he probably could have ran out more. Plus Frost missed a few money balls he should have drained.

Been 100% one of the best streams ever so far. And the decision to also do it on YouTube Live was awesome. YouTube's stream is so much better than Ustream and it's way easier to cast to smart tvs, chromecasts and roku.

And the ability to rewind is THE NUTS.

Thanks for doing this, I know you have the smallest piece of it and do the most work to produce it.

Great job!

You've done a marvelous job Lenny. It has been an amazing match so far.

Thanks again, Lenny, for this free stream. Forget the griping about ads. You have found a way to do this and make players and sponsor happy.

Great idea and delivery of the product.

Youtube is the NUT. I've been watching the match on my big screen TV.

Just go to Youtube, search ontherailtv, then click on the Live link.

Great job!

The ROKU Ustream has been impeccable and is in higher definition.

Lenny, you're accomplishing this...I'm beginning to appreciate one pocket.

Thank you

Just wanted to join in and say many Thanks to Fast Lenny for streaming this as a free event.......very enjoyable and clear picture.....Thanks again...

Been watching intently since Thursday. Nothing but Big Up's to you and crew for the stream Lenny.

I have never been able to watch one pocket for more than 15 minutes before this match. It was like watching grass grow to me with my ADD. After these 4 days I can finally see it getting mowed:groucho:

Best,

Scott needs to win the day first then focus on trying to do something epic. Put some fear in Dennis and we got a match...if it goes like it's been going Scott won't hit 30. Capitalize on thone mistakes like Dennis has...when Scott goofs up it costs him the game. Day 4 return the favor

This stream had been accessible and a treat. Well done Lenny!

I'm wondering how people would rank players, just top 10 playing one pocket.

I would have had Alex in the first spot with Scott, Efren, Tony and Danny up there and there's obviously a few more. Without a doubt Dennis will have his named etched at the top of the list if he carries on where he left off yesterday.

Maybe Alex and Dennis can play the next one for the crown and cheddar

Popularity??? Not according to Facebook. :speechless:
