Thom Pyro chalk

Taom Pyro does not stick to or cake up on the tip as much as other chalks. Because of this, you need to be a little more careful to get good chalk coverage on the tip. Regardless, not much transfers to the CB, and cling/skid/kick seems to occur less frequently as a result. I demonstrate this in my video:

Yeah, that was well demonstrated. But for anyone that doubts it, you only have to play a couple of shots to see the difference. The only time I end up with an annoying chalk mark on cueball is if I miscue doing something stupid. I’ve had several people I communicate with primarily online doubt me, but once they tried it, were like, holy shit, you were right. And they’ve been impressed with how long a piece lasts. I don’t know for sure that it does last longer, because I’ve never really stuck with a piece of chalk to the death, but it feels like it’s lasting longer than other chalks I’ve used.

EDIT: Oh, and I use it on my break cue with a Samsara tip, and despite the power being used and rock hard tip, it still doesn’t transfer to the cueball.

... Most pro snooker players have commented that they’ve had to be a little more careful applying chalk when they switch to Taom, because if anything, they’ve had more miscues, but remedied by just being a little more thorough with application. ...
I wonder if that is due to the round shape of the chalk compared to the traditional cube. My hand knows exactly how to deal with a chalk cube.

I got my V10 taom in just in time for league tonight

Wiped and scuffed tips clean
First put it on my lepro,
It's incredible how it really embeds in the tip , stays there and didn't get any on any ball all night.

I played atleast one full game without chalking once. Chalked maybe 3 times In the 5 games played.
Remarkable.

Tried it in my white diamond, doesn't hold as much chalk as my playing tip but it sticks and stays, after one good covering, and maybe one time more. No miscues no chalk on the cue ball.

I got the holder from Etsy seller cueduster

It really had to be mashed in it won't come out, the inside could have been filed a bit but I don't intend to take it out so the hard fit is fine for me.
The holder and color make it catch the eye very easy so not likely to leave it around. But I didn't even take it to the table, there was no need
(Bottom of the holder has a slot for a screwdriver or something to shove out the chalk when you go to change it)

Best part is I shot a 50 Tonight lol

Thanks for the recommendation!

And cueball and table stays as clean as previous iterations?

And cueball and table stays as clean as previous iterations?

this is my first use with any taom, but is for sure the cleanest chalk ive ever used
a very close 2nd cleanest was russian magic green,
not blue, big difference.

the premium green chalks seem to be MUCH cleaner than blue ones

Does anyone here find that the chalk retention on the cue ball varies most by the actual cue ball itself rather than the chalk?

My cue ball from my $50 Dynasphere Tungsten set holds virtually no chalk. Bought an Aramith Pro Cup Spotted Measle cue ball for a similar price as my full Dynasphere set (!!!) and Aramith now has hundreds of blue marks all over it, looks terrible!!!

Has SERIOUSLY put me off buying the set of Armamith Tournament balls I was eyeing up as I REALLY don't like the chalk retention on the Aramith cue ball, shockingly poor!!! Really hard to clean too! Gutted TBH.

I found an almost new cube of Predator chalk in the chalk box at the room.
Used it for about 4 hours and my hand looked like I killed a Smurf.
I threw it back into the chalk box,now I know why it was there in the first place.
I'm sticking with good old Masters.
Smurf killer alert!

Does this chalk turn the shaft blue or green, like the other "normal" chalks do?

Sorry, but I don’t know. I never really cared much about this anyway when I still used a wood shaft. And since I now use carbon fiber, it isn’t a concern at all.

Funny thing for me is I have zero idea how people are changing the colour of their cues with the chalk they use. May just want to rethink the application method...lol

Btw. I heard Ding Junhui , Chinese Snooker superstar, has own Taom chalk that have CUBE shape. Dunno if they have yet V10 recipe or just older Pyro. Try google it. I think you can buy it from China or UK at least.

That’s what I was wondering too - free shipping and price is about the same as other places. Anyone know if it’s really V10 chalks from Alibaba? If so I think I’ll order a few.
None of the US dealers such as Seyberts are offering the Taom V10 chalk yet. Is it true it is only offered in green?

I think so. I believe they come up other with other colors later( i think green one is the first due snooker players all start going to Taom and cloth always green..). Color can affect to chalk recipe too... That what inventor told to me. He also told Taom chalks have nearly 30 different ingredients. So it is not probably always easy or fast to create new quality products. He told me over year before V10 came to market that he have really good prototype chalk done but it took over year to get it in market.

I’m curious how visible the green V10 chalk is on tournament blue Simonis, especially for players that finish with their tip on the cloth on their follow through?
