Thomas Wayne lose his diginity on Cuezilla.

Do the cues he's now building stay straight upon entering US air space and is he delivering cues which have been prepaid as promised?

I have no knowledge of any of that and one way or the other it would not take away from his diva status (even divas get a frog in their throat once in a while :-)

A diva he is not. A great CM yes. But there are many great CMs with less attitude. I can't see a pass for his actions. He was unprofessional, even though technically correct. He owes everyone an apology. As i stated earlier in another post all he had to do was call M.L and straighten the matter out. instead look what he has caused. A train wreck.

When it comes to cue making at its highest levels, Thomas is one of the very, very few guys that gets a pass on being a diva. He's earned it -- the unbelievable cues he's made were out there a long time ago.

No one "gets a pass" because they did something well before. If I'm exceptional at my job, what, I get a free pass on murdering my boss? This exact attitude is why celebrities get away with everything and pay little, if any, penance for their crimes.

And Thomas has always been like this, he has some personality trait issues that should be looked at. As soon as he feels threatened he yells, "lawsuit", or "hack", or whatever other colorful names he can come up with. It's who he is. He won't apologize, ever, because he honestly believes this is the proper way to deal with people. Most of that comes from the fact he thinks 99% of us aren't worthy of his work anyway.

I suppose it depends on how you define diva. I took the liberty of going to Urban Dictionary...

"4. diva
A diva is a female performer, usually an opera singer, who is extremely talented but very imperious and tempermental. But the distinguishing factor is that her talent permits somewhat uncouth behaviour. A diva is not necessarily difficult to work with, she is just very professional and and has a low tolerance for incompetence. A diva is NOT just some no-talent pop singer who thinks everyone should acquiesce to her every whim, or even worse, some woman who is unecessarily rude, mean, *****y, and often stupid just because she "knows what she wants" and revels in being high maitenance. These woman do not deserve the title of diva, because they have no redeeming talent or quality. They are simply loud and oboxious *****es. True divas should be treated with respect for their enormous talent and strong will."

Thomas may not be Maria Callas, but when it comes to making a cue that most other cue makers can only dream of making, he's close ;-)

Here is a question that might be off topic but will add to the discussion.

I have never hit with a Thomas Wayne Cue but I play with Lambros cue and it is by far one of the best hitting cues I've ever had the chance to move a cue ball with.

How do Thomas Wayne cues play?

Sean,

Have you seen that show "Deadliest Warrior". They do things like CIA versus KGB, Atilla the Hun versdus Alexander the Great? (you can google it and watch reruns on the net - it's on Spike and it's a kick). The computer decides on who wins because each weapon or tool is measured against the opponent's.

Anyway, maybe we need Dealiest Cuemaker, Thomas Wayne versus Mike Lambros.

Thomas Wayne is armed with with a Mac and a 5 Axis Cam Express Version 7, a Binks spray gun with automotive polyurethane with a buffing wheel, a 3/8 X 10 double headed furniture screw, Gabon Ebony, and Elforyn Ivory substitute.

Mike Lambros has a 3 Axis Centroid, a PC with a Pentium, UV spray system with pumice, a radial pin, a real ivory tusk, and abalone.

---- The battle begins. both the CNC jockeys mount their stock as they begin to make a cue.

Lambros has his set up in 30 minutes and is milling on his trusty 3 Axis Centroid, with ivory filings and dust filling the air while Wayne is still reading the manual to figure out where the "on" button is located on his super complicated Cam Express.

Finally Wayne gets his stock mounted and the 5 axis Cam Express roars to life, but Lambros is almost done pushing his slow but reliable 3 axis machine to the limit.

- Then - disater strikes, as the Lambros PC succumbs to a renegade worm virus he got surfing -shall we say - questionable internet sites. He sheepishly explains that he thought "live cam" was a new 4 axis CNC router!

Anyway, Lambros downloads the fix and it's back to the races. Both cue makers pull their cues off to cut the inlays. Wayne's powerful machine is set too high and too deep, and turns his Elforyn into a steaming pile of silly putty.

-- Meanwhile, Lambros comes to the grim realization that 3 axis has it's limits. He is going to have to do the unthinkable - something he's never actually attemped before and no cue maker has attemped in the last 10 years. He's going to have to sand the cue by hand! He has read about this grim deed but is not sure exactly what to do. He slowly rubs the abalone and realizes that sanding is not that bad of a thing and in fact, it gave him a strange sense of pleasure - like he himself had done something, something good!

- Wayne goes to insert the 3/8 X 10 and realizes the damn die was cut too small, so he crossthreads it and has to add a phenolic insert -oh well, it's a black cue, who cares? It's only a 20K cue anyway. Meanwhile Lambros has the more expensive and foolproof radial pin, which fits perfect every time as long as you don't go for the stinkin' copies (shame on you who buy those, you know who you are too).

- They both finish the cues in about the same time before Wayne reaches for his Binks. He knows that he has to mix the automotive clear 'hot" or the Lambros UV system will eat his lunch. Wayne throws on 3 coats and catches air bubbles - he thinks he may be able to buff through them. He blames it on buzz cause his mask has a couple of cracks. Meanwhile, the Lambros cue is basking in the UV radiation, glowing purple like George Hamilton on a bad day. Lamrbos is putting on the water and pumice and Wayne is buffing away.

And the winner is.....

Stay tuned for part two, and now a word from our sponsor.

Not sure why I was reading about 4 axis machining, in a ten-year-old thread, when I don't even have a CNC machine, but this sure was an interesting read, and damn Tate, that was a great post, might be the most entertaining one I have ever seen on AZ

Thank you. I completely forgot about this one. Seems I had a sense of humor at one time.

First time seeing this. That's funny as hell.

Lol you had another funny one recently that was long and drawn out and great. I don’t remember what it was though, just that I laughed.

Humor should be bandied about pretty much everywhere. Even funerals if it’s not for someone under 60.

My buddy John has this Lambros over 20 years, it is like you say very nice hitting Cue. Not sure how long it take to snag a Lambros, but if I was younger it would be on my list of wanted Cues.

In fairness to Mr. Wayne he is an Artist, they are sometimes difficult people. Very opinionated, and some think they are the only one who knows anything.

Yes... there is a little bit of a grey area there...lol

A true 4/5 axis machine is capable of simultaneously moving/machining all at the same time. Most of the machines that can do this are utilizing 4/5 axis machining maybe 5% of the time. Most of the time the 4th/5th axis is just locked into position, with xyz doing the work. Hence 3+2

True 5x machining is WAY expensive. $200 an hr. to start is not unheard of.....

well 3 axis can be simultaneous as well, i made a gas turbine type part this way, was SUPER KOOL!
theres far much more 4 and 5 axis positional (as well call it) work than simultaneous work thats for sure

200 an hr sounds a bit light lol

When I was making liners for model engine's, when cutting the exhaust port used XYZ and C simultaneously. All just manual gcode program. Sadly the engines didn't perform any better, but did have a really cool looking exhaust port geometry. Since it did look better and was slightly faster program time compared to the 2 +1 , we kept making them that way.

fancy cues with a bunch of inlays is an exercise in musterbation. who gives a fuch, some clown is trying to sell a BB for 20K in the for sale section, for what? cues that never see the light of day, they get stored in a case in a dark closet somewhere. All I know is, that lambros makes one of the best hitting cues ive ever hit with, no one talks about a TW cue ever, no one looks for them, no one plays with them, no body gives a fuch about them. hes a talented guy, makes a pretty cue, that no one ever plays with. artist in every sense of the word, they contribute nothing to society, rich asshales buy and trade them and nothing else. Ill take lambros side and I didn't even read the exchange as the link doesn't direct me.

Cuezilla was a website with cue collectors, dealers and experts rating and evaluating custom cues. It was fun and often funny. Many witty comments about whether or not a cue was a monster or not. They bashed a lot of stuff and drooled over others.
