There was a time in 2002 that I got to use my husband's Tim Scruggs cue and was attached right away!
We went to this tournament they had monthly in Orlando, FL and somehow at 8 and 1/2 months pregnant, I made it to the finals of the 1-loss side. Richie was out, so was Grossman, Broumpton, and some different English guy named Richard I played and beat 7-1.
Finally, had to play Tony Crosby to see who would play Charlie Williams in the finals. I won the lag and broke and ran 3 (on the 9 footers), sadly I lost hill/hill, in fact he's so nice about telling that story and it was just 1 game away from a different outcome! It was amazing the way that cue and I were one, not a fancy Scruggs, just a sneaky, but it was like that one cue that you have a special bond with that you look for your whole pool career!
Went on to have the baby 2 weeks later, no pool for 4 more weeks straight for a total of 6 weeks and not one ball hit. I went on to win the Monday night Stroker's (in Palm Harbor, FL) tournament 3 weeks in a row with about 25 guys in them each week! Didn't even hit a ball between Monday's!
So that's just a few fond memories of that Scrugg's that Richie took with him to the Derby City Classic in 2003 and sadly, someone had stolen his case in the blink of an eye with that beautiful cue in it never to be seen again
Hand's down it was the best cue I have ever used in almost 20 years of pool! Thanks for the memories and enjoy retirement!
