Just wondering how tips are being dried after soaking it in milk?what happens if you used layered tip?

I'm not sure but extending the logic of soaking a cue tip in milk, I'd think they dry em in ground up Oreo cookies.

J/K of course, but I just hadda. So many angles and gimmicks, I dunno, guess I'm just old fashioned.

Air dry preferably room temp. no heat, etc. not an authority on the subject just trial and error, it will b nice and hard, how many have accidentally played with their break stick and played well, but then only too say d&%$ I didn't know I was shooting with my break stick......played well with a HARD TIP until that ole mind said you can't

Just leave a message for pooldawg8 He makes the best ones and they are very reasonable. Tell him to call you re his process.

I've never soaked it in Milk, but have soaked it inside'er.

I have a cheap laminated layered tip right now that is soaked in milk for 24hrs.i was told bby a friend to wait for 48hrs.then put it in microwave to dry it.not so sure about this process but might try to air dry it first.

Air = Good

Microwave = Bad

In other words, if you don't plan on eating it, don't Nuke it.

Nothing good comes from things that shouldn't be put in a micro wave that aren't edible.

Glue, for one.

You never mentioned using a tip press after the Milk bath. Milk or any liquid will make the tip expand. If you're not going to press it after, how are you planning on using it.

Cause its going to get real big after.

Milk is Viagra to a tip.

i was told by a friend to wait for 48hrs.then put it in microwave

See, this is always how trouble starts.

It always starts out as, "I was told", "I heard", "My friends friend does this",
.

The milk smell pretty bad after 24 hours for me. I've only tried 1 - 8 hours max then vice it and let it dry. But sadly, it always fails on me. Using Elkmaster. There's no stated formula online and the only one available is from Gladiator which appears first when you google.

I'm getting Picone's tip press and see how it goes.

i actually thought about this.I wasn't really sure microwave was a good idea.i had it soaked for 24hrs and will dry for 48hrs then will press it.But how would i know if the tip is dried well?

Isn't it suppose to be pressed while its wet? Or press it after its dry? :confused:

Please let me know what kind of milk to soak the tips in. There like so many kind of brand of milk. Does soaking the tip in 1%, fat free, 2% low fat, soymilk make any difference on the tips ? J/K :grin:

Not too long ago i tried Jeff's milk duds ( elk master tips treated with milk ) and i would have to say in a way this process softens up the tip as well as increasing its elasticity .
But i have yet to try a layered tip that has been through that process .

Heat will destroy the casein chain... Let it air dry or evaporate it......

It matters.. You are after the casein not the fat.... Use skim.......

If heat does destroy the casein chain, what about the difference between fresh milk and milk that has been ultraheated for the purpose of conservation? Is the milk that has been conservated by heat worse than fresh milk for making good milkduds?
