Yeah I know. I got a little carried away. But I get urges to post stuff like that quite often after reading some stuff on here. I don't mean to attack the thread starter or anybody else by this post. I really enjoy AZ forums and I am highly entertained. But there are things that drive me nuts.
Yes, there are some tools in pool that will improve your game. But for the most part, it is called practice, advice and dedication. Pros aren't born with superpowers to see better, or anything like that to make them as good as they are. They typically put the time in and learn the game.
I am not saying that I am a superstar player or a low level player either, but I have put numerous years into the game I love and it all in turn makes you better at it. I have used different cues and shafts and stuff like that, but all in all, I could use a bar cue and get the job done as well and that come from experience. And by experience, I mean practice and knowledge.
There are certain patterns to the game and everybody plays different. There is no one correct pattern, but patterns that simplify the layouts. Certain shots have advantages of playing them certain ways, and every once in a while, there is only ONE way to go.
The thing that frustrates me is some of the questions I hear on here. There are plenty of great questions and that is why I lurk and read more often on here than I should. But there are others that need to spend more time on the table than reading the Internet. Practicing is the easiest way to become better, although at times it doesn't seems so. Other ways include watching videos, reading books or talking to better players to gain the knowledge to become a better player.
Sorry about my ramblings. Just some thoughts I had.
