To Mark Griffin:

This all comes down to trust.

Someone like Mark is in a situation where they have to consider all options and make a decision quickly that they know will be unpopular with some faction or the other no matter what they do. We were not in his shoes. So if you trust Mark to do the right thing, you will agree with him. If you don't trust Mark, you will disagree with him.

To me Mark has built up so much credibility that I trust him to do what is best, and I support what he did here.

It would be really hard not to trust Mark... unless you were a complete dufus.

Mine may stink but....

Everyone knows that opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stick as the saying goes.

I'm just glad that my grandfather fought in the big war to allow everyone the right to give theirs no matter if anyone agrees with it or not.

Some people liked the decision, some people hated it and in the end the only opinion that matters is mark griffin's since its his show. He can hold an event again next year and some people who said they wouldn't buy it will buy it, some who say they will buy won't buy it. The guy likes pool, so i assume that if he at least broke even or made money he'll do another and if he lost money he'd be a bad business man to do the same thing again.

It is just sad that the Ko's might have left with a sour taste and that we might never see them again. It would just be more easy picking on US soil for SVB i guess.

Hey you.... Mine may stink but it usually doesn't STICK!!!!!!!

Satori and Lou don't fight.

You guys should get together for a beer or two and talk about how you both think CTE is a sham :)

It's all about finding common ground.

And to keep this on topic I agree with the OP, and Lou (about Mark, not CTE)

Mark is an asset to "The Game"

If everyone in the industry did one tenth of one percent of what Mark does for the game, billiards would be as important a sport now as it was in the 20's. If you don't want to help, don't hinder.

I don't want to get into any part of the unpleasant back and forth but I do want to say this:

Mark Griffin provides lots of opportunities for amateurs and pros to enjoy the game they love.

And get paid what they are promised, and on time.

He doesn't hide in the shadows, in fact, he frequently posts his phone number so if anyone wants to discuss something with him, they can.

Take a long hard look all around and think about how many others are out there promoting pool on this level and for as long as Mark has.

On the whole, Mark Griffin is an honest and straight-forward man who does an enormous amount for our sport.

I think a little more appreciation and less criticism are in order.

imo

Or, everyone has a right to their own opinion, but not their own facts!

I wonder if the people who ***** and moan about stuff like this also complain about not enough money in pool.

One reason there isn't a lot of money in pool is some of the people who run tournaments and pool halls which host tournaments find it to be too much of a headache.

Great post!!! Show the love! Im tired of reading about all the *****ing. Mark has done so much for the game. Without him I dont know where pool would be right now. Thank you Mark Griffin for ALL you do ;)

Thanks Are Certainly In Order.......

Mark,
After last year's event I heard you on the podcast speak of frustration, being pissed off, and ready to quit. I didn't get it then, but after perusing the endless stream of threads devoted to this year's "controversy", I do now. How you have had the patience to deal with everything you do and come back year after year, seemingly for more of the same, says volumes about what you are willing to do for pool. The Ko/Ralf/Shane matter was the perfect "damned if you do, damned if you don't" storm and there was no easy, slam dunk solution.

If this was the last straw, I would understand, but here's hoping you have a little more left in the tank. Pool needs more folks like you.

I liked your post, and agree with it fully.

In my view, Mark is singularly the most important person in the world of US pool and billiards, and is owed buckets of thanks and appreciation. His efforts to support and promote pool are at the top of the list, and no one is making a more direct impact on the legions of players in the USA, in both professional and amateur ranks.

His performance is legendary, his support for the pro`s both by holding large tournaments and by meeting all financial obligations and payouts is the benchmark, his willingness to listen, be open, hold podcasts on ALL subjects no matter how sensitive, and above all make a mark on our collective community is amazing.
............Again, amazing.

And very much appreciated by untold tens of thousands, and more.
