Todays Pros....

"Outlandish" behavior just isn't tolerated today like it was in the past. Drunk driving laws, sexual harassment laws, public nuisance & noise laws, etc. really keep a lid on behavior...and change the way people act in a society.

Used to be that a high-school football star could do anything and get away with it. Today, they've got a target painted on their back. One wrong move and there goes the college scholarship.

As much as I enjoy Earl Strickland's game, I'd toss him out of a tournament if he caused trouble. It doesn't impress the fans (society) any more, so who needs the headache?

That said, I'd like to see more "fun" in tournaments. Let Alex joke around as long as it's not during his opponent's shot. Heck, even let Ralf Souquet crack a joke!

Did my remark kill you that much Jam that You hold onto a 2003 match Keith won over a 19 year old Van Boening!!???
That's the best you got!!?!
You're going to debate keith vs, some say now, the future greatest American cueist ever? too funny
Speak to earl lately?? Ask earl about Shane vs the old timers.
Oh I'm a newbie, what do I know.
So Ask Earl!

I see you're a new member, yet you seem to know me, as well as target Keith versus Shane. Oh, I know. You've been lurking for years and just decided to join I get it.

It is revealing to me, and fairly ignorant, to compare a man in his 50s to a man in his 20s and say the 20-year-old will barbecue the 50-year-old. Gimme a break.

There are a gazillion videos of Shane today, not to many of Keith in his 20s because of the lack of technology.

I guarantee you, though, Shane wouldn't barbecue Keith when Keith was in his 20s. In fact, he just may not have liked it at all. But young people, those with a lack of common sense, will come back and say, "No way. I've seen Keith play, and he sucks." Okay, whatever you say.

So flame on, newbie. I'm ready for the next round.

One more thing. Nexxt time you speak to Earl, tell him JAM said Keith don't like to play with old-timers, since Earl hit the 50 mark. You can tell him to shove that in his pipe and smoke it.

Jenn, Jenn, please, please, don't even buy into the crap. it was a different time and a different game. Shane is a fine player, but the best cueist ever?? Not hardly!!
he is though, a fine and decent young man and i wish him all the best.
Kieth was a riot to be around ad totally unpredictable. That was not a bad thing either.
Oh if only we could turn back the hands of time? it would be fun to say the least and there would be a packed house.
If we could turn back in time and lock kieth in a room with any of the top 5 today and have a bar table, snooker table, and a 9 foot table, well guess who would come out with all the money?

The pros of today aren't colorful, but would crush, I mean crush the best of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Mccready vs van boening? Not even a match

Remember you are talking about people that have ran 11 packs, people that have played under the greatest amount of pressure. People who played to eat and survive. Everyone of those guys on their best day could hang with anyone else past or present. They have proven their heart and will by the way they lived.

You're way off here. SVB is only having his turn in the barrel. He'll be replaced, just like all the rest. It's pool, for crissakes. :)

Nobody liked to play Keith, he was a great player, I get it.
But Van Boening will be the greatest American ever. That's not an outlandish statement. And he simply doesn't lose, period. Nobody in the world wants that kid.
This is a silly comparison really.

Keith vs CJ would be a much better, and fairer debate.

To say someone, anyone will be the best player EVER is outlandish. Who knows what the future holds. Obviously SVB is a great player and will go down in history as being one of the greats.

I'll pick up this debate when Shane is 58 years old and see what you have to say then. ;)

Every pool champion has a streak, some longer than others. Nobody knows how long Shane's will last at this juncture.

Why not sit back and enjoy the ride instead of making comparisons of a 20-year-old to a 50-year-old. It's a non-issue.

If you think Shane is so good, bring him to Finley's Tavern this Friday coming up...to the annual Good Friday Tournament at Finley's Tavern. It is a Pro-AM so he is welcome to come and play.

There will be a Calcutta....

I know small tables is his favorite.

That's Finley's in Seven Valleys PA, just south of York PA.

There will be an old timer there that will crush him like a jelly bean.:clapping:

Happy Easter, Peter Rabbit.:wave2:

You don't let facts get in the way of your trolling do you ?

Ever heard of a guy named Orcollo? Or a little dude named Alex? Older gent named Francisco? All have no problem playing Shane and all have beaten him.

I can compare SVB's career now vs Keith's entire career.
List his titles, and I will list SVBs. This should be fun.
And he's not even 30 yet.....

Orcullo and SVB, SVB and Orcullo. 1 and 2 in the world.
Giving me dates of when Shane lost a match to someone only proves my post further.

Enjoy the ride, because it will be a "dominant show" for the next 1-2 decades.

KMan is a full blown retard.
I've got to spread some rep around or I'd red rep his a$$ again

Tin cups isn't always what makes a great pool player. Tournaments were sometimes only a mere gathering place, and it was in the after-hours when the real action began.

Ask a player if they'd rather have a tin cup and a check for $20,000 after a week-long event or pocket $368,000 in an action match.

Today's players are tournament soldiers. In Keith's day, they were road warriors, and I can assure you that they didn't make their money from competing in pool tournaments.

It's a lifestyle that only the strong survive. Fortunately for Keith, he met me. I'm strong.

Where did I give you dates ?

You just randomly make shit up all the time or only on the internet ?

You're right. I don't even know why I'm replying.

Mention Keith's name in a negative manner, I can't help but reply. What can I say, I love the man. I know he's no angel and is most definitely the Stu Ungar of pool, but put him and another of today's emotionless robots on two tables in a big ball room, and watch which table the crowd draws near.

And as Tammy Wynette says, sometimes it's hard to be a woman, but STAND BY YOUR MAN.

Yeah, the point of all of this has gone so far over his head that I don't think he will ever get it. I miss the flair, the one liners, the crazy bets that sometimes had nothing to do with pool.

Pool doesn't need more robots, they need excitement. Alex is a good mix of character and talent which is why I think he is so beloved in the pool world. I would rather watch one of his matches some of the other dry talent out there today.
