Tokin up and shootin pool!

Your harshing my mellow english. I dont disagree with you but please tell me how football and baseball and other "mainstream sports" with multi-million dollar payrolls dont have weed and gambling, lol. It is players dumping/splitting/savers and REALLY crappy promoters that do the most damage.

I hear a great player's name mentioned all the time. He died a few years ago of a Heroin overdose. He wasn't the first great pool player to end his life that way either.
Injecting, snorting and smoking drugs right outside the poolroom will help maintain a clean image and help pool grow.
If you think drugs are fun, go at it.

I don't have a problem with it. Like drinking, too much is not good for your game, but a little can help you relax and get in the zone.

I know a few who take a few hits between games. They play well for a while, but the wheels come off after that.

I cannot image top players today doing that.
I quess In the old days drinking and drugs were part of the game, remember seeing top pro's drinking a beer in a big tournament, "earthquake" for 1, 20 years ago. Greenleaf was a drunk. We lost a few top pro's to drugs.

I'm a league player and enjoy a few beers while playing. I'm usually start missing around beer #4

Smoke if you want, enjoy the game.

Pot can be a very powerful and useful thing if used properly. I have much experience, once chronic, now very sporadic. When used everyday it has the negative effects on memory and to some extent comprehension, however, when used sporadically and with proper dosing (Giant bong rips are not proper doses, BTW!) it can be a very powerful tool to open your mind up to different ways of thinking. Historically cannabinoids have been used for this purpose for millennia. It is especially useful in opening up creativity, or maybe just unencumbering creativity that is stifled by conscious thought. In small doses there is nothing better for musical experimentation, too much and experimentation becomes futile as your memory will be hampered. I've lost track of many transcendental pieces of music that way. This stifling of the conscious thought bodes well for pool players where the conscious self can get you into trouble, too much though and you wont be able to formulate proper strategies.

Pot is not the same as any other drug aforementioned in this post. When abused it can be a bad thing, not as bad as alcohol, IMO. When used properly it can have great benefit. And let's not forget the medical benefits.

op be like....

Wow

One extreme to another.

I just want to go to the back of the pool hall and be left alone ...
If I am straight, stoned, drunk, or anything else as long as I am not bothering you and please don't be bothering me.

Personally I think there is times in ours lives that everyone needs to sit down and smoke some great tasting pot .
Now days they got pot that gives you the munchies and pot that put you to sleep and pot that makes you energetic or doesn't get you hi at all just takes the edge off of the pain.
If people don't like the way it smells then they make candies with pot in it.
You cannot overdose on it and if people get really hi they don't start fights like a drunk they just fall a sleep.

And its hell getting your @ss kicked by someone who is stoned out of there minds

Really? I mean REALLY? you want to lump all those other drugs in with pot.

Pot? The one drug that's less harmful than the legal alternative (Alchohol).

It's going to be legal soon and all you drug warriors and brainwashed masses had better stop stigmatizing people who use it.

Oh, and btw a clean image isn't going to help pool grow.

my creativity and vision reach new heights. I see shots and patterns clear as day, making connections that just don't come to me without it. Pool is often envisioned as a two dimensional game played on a flat surface with straight lines leading to points, and weed helps me envision the three dimensional game, the curved paths of the balls, the impact of the stroke angles. I can better predict how caroming balls will interact.

Or at least it helps you feel or think this is true. Which is just as well. :)

Poolhall60561...20 years ago! LOL I remember seeing (and playing) "Earthquake" 40 years ago! :D Many players back then had some sort of "mixture". Pot was then, and continues to be, part of that mixture. Greenleaf was a druggie, as well as an alcoholic. He was also debatably the best poolplayer that ever lived!
