Tom "Dr.Cue" Rossman

Tom "Dr. Cue" Rossman is one of a kind and an absolute treasure in the world of pool. I wish he and his lovely wife, Marty, the best in their lives and in their health. My prayers and positive thoughts go out to you both.

Jason "The Michigan Kid" Lynch, you're a really good guy yourself and thank you for coming on here to update us on Tom and Marty. I've enjoyed playing you at a couple of the artistic pool events and watching some of the absolutely outrageous, non-competition shots you've come up with. You have a very fertile imagination.

Below is a picture of Jason "The Michigan Kid" and his "record breaking" shot where he launches two balls across to another table making a side pocket combo. Nice!

And also one of my favorite pics featuring the ever smiling Tom Rossman and me.

Be well guys.

Best,
Brian kc

OK guys here are a couple of stories.......

I owe alot to this man. He has been a mentor, a father figure and one of my best friends. Tom gave me my nickname back in 2004 at the Northeastern Open in Southington, CT at Sal Conti's place.

One of the times at the Masters in Pennsylvania, Nick Nikolaidas and Tom Rossman were two of my partners in crime. I had made a 4' long 20 dollar bill for the dollar bill shot. Nick Nikolaidas distracted Gerry Woodlief (table judge for the match and also competitor), and Tom was doing all he could to not laugh (those that know Tom know that if he starts laughing there is no stopping) and so I put this large bill one the table and poor Gerry turns around to see this on the table.........then the laugh burst out.

Last year, Tom and I had the pleasure to shoot in the BEF (Billiards Education Foundation) charity event in Vegas. Tom is a big kiid at heart and ALWAYS has the time for the kids. A little girl came into the arena and he set up a shot for her (she could barely see over the table) and holding the cue along with her, they make 3 balls! I had won a lucky cue in the break contest out there and the Lord showed me that the cue was supposed to go to this little girl. I gave it to Tom to sign it for her.......he wouldn't let me not sign it. I am humbled every time that I am included with anything Tom does.

In 2008, I had the privilege of being selected as one of the finalists for Cue-Dean-E. I wasn't even going to enter but did after Tom prompted me to send in a video. I was very blessed and honored to be selected as the first honorary Cue-Dean-E. Part of the prize was to have Tom for two days in Michigan. I brought Tom to Michigan and we spent two days raising funds for the local Toys For Tots chapter. He was tireless, I had trouble keeping up with him.

The one that I get a kick out of the most was at the 2005 Worlds at Shooters in Southington, CT. Tom was table judging my match. I was shooting the machine gun masse' and had just missed the ball and really hit the table hard on my first and second attempt. When it happened the second time, I had knocked the chalk off the table and had bent down to look for it under the table. Tom starts falling out of his chair laughing. I go over and ask him what was so funny? He says, barely able to speak, I thought you were checking to see if you cue went thru the table.

Hope you guys enjoy these.

Tom and Marty are wonderful people! They're fun house guests. One year, we took them rock climbing, and somewhere I have a great photo of them running around like kids, under a waterfall. For a while, I think they had one of the photos from that trip--of them hanging off a rock--displayed in their studio.

They are very devout, and generous. One visit, they asked if we knew of a nearby church, or youth center with a table...Tom wanted to do a free show for kids. We located a place...it had one of those awful ping pong/pool table contraptions. Mid-show, one of the legs fell off. Tom took it in stride and ad-libbed as he does so well, and continued the show while Marty, my wife, and I held up that end of the "table". He told us it wasn't the worst thing that had ever happened. They really need to write a book about their experiences.

Once, we stayed up until 3 or 4 am replaying a video over and over trying to figure out how some Japanese trick shot artist was doing his tricks....

Get well!

It's been almost 20 years, but it seems like it was just yesterday.

I talked with Marty and she said everything looks good so far. I think Tom was going back to the Dr today for his checkup. They are both like a brother and sister to me. I am glad to here everything is well with them

From Tom Rossman today:

In an e-mail today from Tom:

Hi, Josh!

Thank you for the inquiry and possible show. First of all, I did have major eye surgery (detached retina), but I am back to normal now. I just finished 3 - 4 weeks of rest for my mind, body, spirit, and soul and looking forward to sharing my story with many as I travel. It has been a blessing in disguise as my vision improved from what is has been for the last 25 years. Truly amazing! Marty is fine also and we both are ready to start our Fall tour a little later than normal for us, but in what we consider now is God's perfect timing.

Note: If you want to post my statement above on the social network, please do so and thanks for your thoughts.

Have a great day! Tom and Marty
