Tournaments or Cash Games?

Depend on who's matching up and what tournament you're speaking of....
As a whole, tournaments like the World 9 Ball Championship (my favorite), the U.S. Open 9 Ball Championships, the World or U.S. Open 14.1 Championships and all 3 of the DCC's would get my attention over any money match up.
BUT, if Shannon Daulton were playing a DCC type 3-way match-up with John Schmidt, I would watch that over any other tournament other than the ones I mentioned. And I would hope so much that T.A.R. or Accu-Stats captured the match if I was watching the other major tournaments!
The reason for me liking tournaments over money match ups is you can see lots of players you may never have seen before or not seen very often vs only having 2 players in the money game. (I voted for tournaments in your poll)

Money Games
My vote would go for the gambling sessions.
I just think that watching two top players in a long session (hopefully 15 ahead) for a big stack of green, is a great thing to watch. I think it gets rid of a lot of luck (race to 8 in 9ball lets a lot of luck to happen) and you get to see players grind it out.

You mean as a player or as a spectator? As a player, I enjoy tournaments more. As a spectator, money games are more interesting to me.

I have to say I feel a lot more satisfied when I win a tournament than I do when I beat someone I've matched up with. I guess personal achievement is more important to me than money.
How do you define 'more'? I find tourneys are easier to find, but I'd rather play 1on1 tourneys...
I like money games better. Tourny's take too long, and the variables are many.
A nice ring game of Chicago, (partners 1 & 5), with 4 equally matched players, can be a lot of fun.
Of course nothing beats a game of straight with someone of equal speed.:thumbup:

However, tournaments are more difficult to be successful in.
A 14.1 or banks cash game is the best match to sweat in my opinion.
I prefer to play two person tournaments...

We need two polls, one for watching and one for playing.
I voted cash games if I was watching/side betting. I prefer 6 or 8 top player 10-ball ring games to watch. $1000 a man or more.
If I was playing I'd say cash games in a heartbeat up until now. Now I'd like to try my game in a big bar box tournament. I probably will still match up for the cheese with a "B" player in 6-ball, 10-ball, or 8-ball...no 9-ball. As one of my granddaughters use to say, "I can't like that gramppa". Johnnyt

My New Years resolution is to do match ups and drop the tournaments. Tournaments take to long and the wait just kill my stroke so I am ready to take a shot at the gamblers world. Oh yeah I love to watch match ups for big money, it seems to have more of a lasting affect to watch great players go at it for cash.
I voted tourneys... even though I play more cash games. The number one reasons I like tourneys is because I get the chance to play great players for cheap and if I win it's even sweeter!
With an unlimited bankroll, anyone can play cash games and win eventually. Plus I find there are too many whiners in cash games.

Pro`s and con`s
I play tournaments (GSBT and Viking) and enjoy them for the most part, but they drag on for too long, there is not usually enough seating and I get tired standing, you don`t get to play enough, there are usually no practice tables available once the tournament begins so you start cold in every match.
Matching up for cash (per game or sets) is more to my liking. I enjoy the flow of the games and the mental toughness necessary to play for hours. I once could play for days but now about 5 hours is the max. (getting older)
