It seems we in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties have dodged a bullet, yet again. Unfortunate news for those farther west though.

It's anticipated to be a CAT 1, which is around 75+ mph...

I'm thinking shingles and siding will be blown off, wind driven rain entering through the roof ridge vents and through old crappy windows...trees and tree branch impacts to the structures...and naturally a bunch of flying debris impact type damages.

Heavy rainfall saturating the roots and ground of the trees, along with the high winds, will turn a great number of trees and their root balls, and naturally a bunch of broken tree limbs...not to mention low area flooding.
I would also anticipate some looting and thieving, in the areas that are evacuated, it seems normal in those areas that appear to be forecast for the landfall.

I work in Storm Damage Assessment and Recovery, my bags are packed...and just waiting to head that way.
 
Central Louisiana here. It looks like we will get some edge, depending on how much farther it goes west.

Still pretty nasty here in West Palm Beach. 30-40 mph wind and flooding. Had gusts up to 60 mph last night. That's pretty crazy considering the center of the storm never got within 100 miles of us.
 
if the wind excedes 100, and they take a somewhat direct hit as with katrina, i will be headed down to the mississippi coast with emergency supplies after the storm. specifically to gulfport/pass christian area.

if you know someone in that area, and need to make contact with them, or get something to them after the storm let me know

Isaac passed the Ft Lauderdale area with a lot of rain and some big winds.
Good luck to those of you along the upper gulf coast.

Take care guys. Altho I envy the 365 days a year sunshine you get, I don't envy you when the season hits.

Hope you keep your electricity and keep the other members posted.

I seriously hope NO is spared a direct hit.

Just finished reading the history of hurricanes here in Central Florida. My area (Leesburg) has had three hurricanes since 1865.

Where I lived in Ohio we had one tonardo in about 25 years that was close to us. So the stats are actualy better here in Florida. ---- but it only takes one bad one.:o
 
Thanks. Looks like we got off pretty easy where I am, somehow a bit worse (Rain) than some of the coast but nothing to be to concerned over.

That 'Sunshine State" thing could use a rework tho. ;)

I can attest to the fact that Buffalo Billiards beer is still cold and strong. That Platinum Budweiser beer kicks arse.
