I don't know if this is the proper forum,if not please direct me .

I have played one pocket seriously for years, but lately the break shotitrouling me.I have 2 problems1) the cue ball is staying low,or 2)I am selling out the corner ball or kissing it and scratching on occasion.

My break is as follows,Iput the cue ball about ! inch from the rain, hit high inside enlish, and try to hit the head ball as thin as possible.Somedays every break is good, somedays I get these problems.

Iwould prefer to fine tune this break but I am considerindg breaking off the last to balls to avoid them.

Go on over to onepocket.org for more information perhaps.

My advice...don't try to touch the head ball AT ALL. That is what your problem is, you want to barely graze it if anything. Also, notice how your opponent is racking. Sounds like they are loosening up their corner ball to me. If that ball is not frozen everytime, it will pop out towards their hole. As far as english, you want more high than inside..ideally just hard enough to make the cue ball rest on the long rail after hitting the head rail...somewhere between the first and second diamond past the side pocket.

If you are selling out the corner ball, you may want to try moving the cue ball about 4-5 inches off the rail. You definitely want to hit the head ball, but real thin.

One thing you can do if you are having problems with selling out the wing ball is to break the second and third balls rather than the first two. I have played on some very humid nights when I had to resort to this method to eliminat the wing ball from coming out too far.

What he said. You don't have to feather the head ball. Fairly thin is good as you want to carom off both the 1st and 2nd balls. Try using slightly more speed or slightly less inside english to get further uptable.

corner ball problem

I think you are breaking correctly. Use the high, not so much inside because the inside english will cause the cue ball to squirt slightly and shooting at the break speed necessary, it is harder to control the aiming point.

The corner balls coming out to far are either from hitting too hard, or, most likely, the back row is NOT FROZEN. Check this before you break and if your speed is right, you will not have this problem.

When i am having problems with my break i hit lower on the rack, the 3rd and sometimes 4th row if need be,the lower you hit the safer you are,the higher the more chance of scratching or selling out the corner ball.

Don't know if it'll work for you, but I move the cue ball out about a foot from the rail. Still thin the head ball and clip the second with high inside. I'd be curious to know if this works or if anyone else does this.

I'm sure someone else covered it in this thread but I don't have time to read it.

Check the rack, make sure you are hitting the head ball as thin as possible, and move your cue ball about 5 inches away from the rail, and if the cue is still coming up too short hit it harder.

Most important, like others have said, you have to have a good rack. Then:

Go out about 7-8 inches from your side rail. Aim at the second ball, full hit. You will nick the first ball, but at least you have an aiming point. Use high only, but a little inside will make it a little better. Watch Efrem's breat at DCC last year.

Moving away from the side rail does help keep the corner ball from popping out so far, but it's also easier to scratch from there. Another way to accomplish the same thing is to hit a little more of the first ball, which also has the advantage of pushing more balls to your side (and there's a better chance of making a ball).

Both of these solutions (and all one pocket breaks, actually) demand a dead accurate hit on the first/second balls - here's some advice about aiming the break shot that I posted last night on another thread about using balls in the rack as targets:

"I shoot from the side rail and like to aim directly at the center ball in the rack (where the 8 would be in an 8-Ball rack). Some players break farther from the side rail, and they probably aim at some other target in the rack. The important thing is that it's definite and pinpoint, like the center or edge of a ball."
