True story: Earl and Johnny shooting pool on FastMikie's home table

I went to the class yesterday at Rancho that Johnny and Earl put on and had a great time.

Johnny is a crackup and Mark was off the wall (esp with my gf,lol!)

Mark and Johnny said they were heading up to Jays after the show, which I thought was you.

I didn't get a chance to see the exhibition at D&B but I know they put on a good show.

Hi guys, I know there are a few AZer's that have been to either a show or exhobition in the last 2 days and we have had a great time. bUSY BUT GREAT. The guys and myself would like to thank all of you for coming and showing you support and that nk the starter of this thread Fastmikie for inviting us. We began the evening with a great dinner at a retauraunt on the ocean that is right by his house and it was AWESOME seafood. I spoke to Jay this morning over lunch and Johnny Earl and I began telling stories of what has been going on so far and we agreed there has to be a book or something. I have never laughed so hard so often in a long time at some of the things that have happened to us on this trip so far. Jay got alot of the info today and as well as he know both Johnny and Earl he had a look about him that said "what the F&^ck" I am going to start a thread and give you all some basics. Putting this stuff together isn't easy and I am still working on it but I tell ya at times I can't believe I actually get paid for this as it is so much fun. Oh At Dave & Busters Jay came in and some of the people didn't know who he was and I could see it in their faces. He cam in during the xhibition and was greeted by JA who gave him a hug and the crowd saw it, then I gave him a hug and Earl. Then in the middel of the exhibition Earl announced Jays arrival and he got a round of applause. O know some of them were going "who the hell is the little bald guy??? he must be someone REALLY important" :) Thanks for your support Jay, we appreaciate it,

So Earl says to me: "Put this in your pants...."

Here's a little bit of follow up on the event, and some questions:

1. How much did it cost for the private audience with the gods? Well that's a good question, but since it was a business deal with them, I think it would be a good idea to keep it confidential, unless they wanted to reveal that info. I can tell you that I jumped at the chance!

2. Elbow drop on the power draw? I guess you can see that in any of the videos of these guys on YouTube, etc. One very interesting thing I noted with the stoke on BOTH of these players is that they twist their wrist on the follow through, and that struck me as very strange. When I mentioned it they both said that it gave them more action on the ball.

3. How did I do with the long power draw with Johnny and Earl holding me down? Well, I didn't get table length, but I did do better than I would have done without their help. As always, it will probably take a lot of PRACTICE!!

4. Thank you all for the greenies! I just noticed that all of a sudden I have a full complement of the little green critters, so now I get the feeling that you really really love me and all it took was getting Johnny and Earl to give me a lesson. Thanks, guys!

5. I've added another Johnny/Earl event "Flashback" to my blog, which I'm sure you will enjoy, so I started a new thread with the title:
Flashback #2: Earl Strickland says to me: "Put this in your pants"

6. I'll keep writing about this event, off and on, until I get it out of my system, and then I'll start working on the video clips. Stay tuned...:)

It's like an old fashioned barnstorming tour, and this time they are covering the West Coast (about 1,500 miles) in nine days. a lot of driving and a lot of pool. I've gotta give Mark, Earl and Johnny credit for pulling this one off. They'll all be worn out when it's over. I foresee three guys sleeping for a week afterwards. :)

FastMikie:

I've been watching the Yokita COM compilation (with the sound way up, I love it) and noticed Earl's stroking arm is well past vertical when he addresses the cue ball. Do you have any clips of his arm that we could study? I did notice he twists at the finish. Maybe it lets his arm go farther forward?

Wow, good catch. So is there any argument that the twist is helping his draw stroke? Seems crazy.

This is just my opinion but if you have an extreme follow through it is much easier on the wrist to twist it. I do this sometimes with extreme follow through. It's not a huge twist, it doesn't steer the cue offline either.

Last night, Earl The Pearl Strickland and Johnny The Scorpion Archer walked through my front door and put in several hours on my pool table. Not your typical show doing trick/stroke shots, but giving me real, personalized high-intensity lessons. I'm not likely to forget the event for a long time (because I recorded video of all of it).

For lots of the details, check out my blog entry at this link:

In a word, it was TotallyFreakingAwesome!

JoeyA: Have you been reading my "Other Life" blog? It seems you have! Now that you have brought up the subject, it seems important to share it with others who may have missed some of what you read, and therefore may have got the wrong idea (that my life has always been perfect, filled with Ferraris and open-cockpit biplanes, and life at the beach, etc.) In fact, there were times when I was in a very bad way, and challenged with jail, cancer, divorce, bankruptcy, depression, and more I would prefer not to discuss. Let it only be said that I was NOT living the perfect life, and needed to find the way out of all the negativity and start living the good life I felt certain was possible. Of course, I did find the way out, then invented a "system" for others to do the same, and published it at http://ThinkPlanDoRepeat.com

And for anyone else who wants to read what JoeyA is referring to
