TS Pay Out?

That is a nice summation of the current situation of our country. I do not know how this applies to this thread though.

I do know that as a farmer/rancher if a buyer says you can get $150 per calf and a $25,000 bonus if you have 128 of them ... well that dude better come up with $44,200.

Agriculture is responsible for an estimated 14 percent of the world's greenhouse gases. A significant portion of these emissions come from methane.

The world's 1.5 billion cows and billions of other grazing animals emit dozens of polluting gases, including lots of methane. Two-thirds of all ammonia comes from cows.

Cows emit a massive about of methane through belching, with a lesser amount through flatulence. Humans produce gases daily, sometimes to their embarrassment.

I am so glad that you are posting again, because when I read your posts it makes me feel like I am smarter than I really am.

It's kind of like I love to walk on the beach with a fat friend, because it makes me look so much better.

Please keep posting!

First you catch your girlfriend sending emails back and forth to some guy from work. She says that he is just a nice guy and had a few questions about their job. So you start calling her sister. Then he starts texting her and she says that he is just looking for someone to talk to because he is having problems with his own girlfriend. Now you start bringing her sister over for dinner. Next, your girlfriend goes to have drinks with the guy so she can talk to him, because he is really upset and wants to help him out with his girlfriend issue. Then you notice that your girlfriend is wearing makeup again, every day and a revealing sweater that she hasn't worn in months. By now you are already sleeping with her sister. Your girlfriend starts coming home late from work, saying that she is working on a 'project' and it is taking more time than she thought. Finally, you come home from work early one day and find your girlfriend bent over by the co-worker that she was just trying to help out with his problem. Doesn't matter because her sister was better looking and better in bed anyway.

I fixed the above for you.

I think it is safe to say that there was $25,000 Added (from the casino), since the total value paid out, $41,400, is greater than $25,000.

The value 'added' is most likely AFTER all the fees and costs are paid off, ie table rental setup and take down, the accountant for the 1099 forms, the staff that put together the event, advertising, and any other costs. After all no one does this events for free. The entry fees from the players is what is used to pay for those setup costs, not the Added $25,000 bonus money, its called ADDED for a reason.

There are some tournaments that dont add anything at all, for example one tournament I kept seeing an ad for only pays $500 for first, $300 for 2nd, and $200 for 3rd, but its based off 64 players paying $25 to play. Total Prize = $1000, but total entry cost = $1600, so thats the ones you should be throwing a fit about, where (Total entry costs) > (total prizes).

That tournament has already been discussed within the last month.
The casino is running the tournament and doesn't have a clue about putting out an informative flier.

You make some good points.

Some tournaments are ADDED, and others are ADDED GUARANTEED. Then you've got the GUARANTEED.

Anybody who has been going to tournaments for a while understands what to expect. Believe me, every single player has already done the calculations before they leave home for the major tournaments, which Joss $25,000-ADDED Turning Stone Casino event is considered a major. There's a reason why this one fills up well ahead of time and has a waiting list. Gee, could it be the players like playing in it? Could it be they like getting paid in CASH? Could it be the like the way the tournament is run? Hmm, food for thought.

Of course, with the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour in its 13th season, they must be doing something right. ;)

Yeah, I can remember going to a few tournaments that advertised "$3,000 ADDED," and then in the small print, it says "if 248 players sign up," or words to that effect.

you'll get hate messages for this post too. Either by people who are too stupid to realize the benefit or reasoning behind posting it, or by people that simply want to stand behind someone because they are friendly with them regardless of whether they are right or wrong. People do this all the time on here even if they contradict themselves from one thread to the next.

I was too stupid to realize until now that you changed your avatar.

lol, that's because you actually paid attention to the thread topic which as always got derailed by someone with another agenda. But like Rick James says, cocaine is a helluva drug, lol.

A mark (...) indicating the omission of words, sentences, or even paragraphs within quoted material.

One does not need to use an ellipsis mark unless, while reading quoted material, the reader says "Dot dot dot" to indicate an ellipsis. The ellipsis should not be used to show an interruption, pause, or dropping off of speech.

That's the most informative thing I have read on this site ever. I try to follow the rules of grammar, and I never knew this rule.

It truly is a very common mistake, and it's even made by many professionals today.

Today's topic is semicolons.

Semicolons separate things. Most commonly, they separate two main clauses that are closely related to each other but that could stand on their own as sentences if you wanted them to.

Here's an example: "It was below zero; Squiggly wondered if he would freeze to death." The two parts of that long sentence that are separated by a semicolon could be sentences on their own if you put a period between them: It was below zero. Squiggly wondered if he would freeze to death.

One reason you might choose to use a semicolon instead of a period is if you wanted to add variety to your sentence structure, for example, if you thought you had too many short, choppy sentences in a row. But when you use a semicolon, the main clauses should be closely related to each other. You wouldn't write, “It was below zero; Squiggly had pizza for dinner,” because those two main clauses have nothing to do with each other. In fact, the other reason to use a semicolon instead of a period is if you want to draw attention to the relationship between the two clauses.

Also, one important thing to remember is that you never use semicolons with coordinating conjunctions such as and, or, and but when you're joining two main clauses. Instead, if you're joining two main clauses with a coordinating conjunction, you use a comma. For example, "It was zero, and Squiggly wondered if he would freeze to death." This takes years of experience for most to understand.

HTH!

so did anyone ever figure out where the money is yet?

i think it's a good discussion and people should question the prize money and it should be out in the open. it's simple math and should be out there for everyone to see.

regarding taking money out for fees and such - i believe td's make moneys other ways i.e. room kick backs, etc. that's all the td's business. that they can keep to themselves BUT if he needs to take an additional 5k or more from the prize money then it shouldnt be advertised as 25k added. it should be advertised as 20K added.

isn't having the prize money add up good for pool? good for the players and good for the event? i dont even see why this is being argued.

So with Turning Stone just finished....someone correct me if my math is wrong.

Field of 128 x $150 = $19,200.
$25,000 added.

Adding up the payouts the total is $40,800.

So this time it was $3,400 short. Last event was $2,800 short if I remember.

Why don't they just advertise this tournament differently?

You have to remember that it is costly to run such an event, the TD has to eat, sleep, travel, gas is expensive, tables won't install themselves etc.

Atleast they are doing something for pool +++

lol

Just saved us for a lot of posts back and forth there, didn't I?
