Turning Stone Classic 26 - players list and press release.

When I saw Thorsten on both lists,I dropped him a quick note and he said he was in China. Said he paid his entry for turning stone before he knew that China was at the same time.

And Immonen is also in China (as the China Open brackets indicate, and he is to play Hohmann in the first round!!)?

Donny has played in the last few turning stone classics, and it's always great to see him compete up here. He gives all is working stiffs hope that it's very possible to compete with the full time professionals.

I could definitely see him reaching Sunday if he gets a great draw and shoots like I've seen him do in the past.

Also, where is a Dennis hatch????
This would've been a great opportunity for him to finally take down this tournament.

Don't let Donny fool you into thinking he actually works.
I know his schedule pretty good. The fisherman runs that show in Largo.

How you like this Mr. Mills? If you see it.

I have not seen the USBTC Vegas player list but I am guessing the TS field is stronger than the USBTC
If there was a Mosconi Cup type tourney (top 5 players) on 9 ft , TS5 would clean out USBTC5

Immonen and Hohmann are playing a match in the China Open right now, so clearly they will not be playing at Turning Stone this week. So here is a revision to what was in post #32, reflecting their absence.

For the 25 Turning Stone events played so far:

• 15 different players have been winners. Bustamante, Van Boening, and Immonen have each won twice; Shaw has won 3 times; and Archer has won 6 times.

• 20 different players have finished second. Hatch, Sossei, Immonen, Morris, and Morra have each been runners-up twice.

• 30 different players have finished first or second. Archer leads with 7 appearances in the finals, Immonen has 4, Shaw and Morris have 3, 7 players have 2 (Bustamante, Williams, Hatch, Morra, Sossei, Van Boening, and Dechaine), and 19 players have appeared in the finals just once.

Only 4 of the past winners (who have accounted for 6 of the 25 wins) and 5 of the past runners-up (who have accounted for 7 second-place finishes) will be playing this week. That's a smaller number of prior-event finalists than we have seen in recent events.

Here's a list of the winners and runners-up from each of the Turning Stone Classic events, with those scheduled to play this week shown in blue:

I, July 2000 -- M. Immonen d. F. Hernandez

And how 'bout that Luc Salvas?! Love seeing Luc in the pit competing. Fast as lightning.

Team TS5 with Earl will self destruct and become whinners.
Replace him with Sossei, Shuff, Karen Corr or heck even Jennifer Baretta and they suddenly look like winners.:grin-square:

Good point.
The earl effect can work both ways, self destruct within the team or complete intimidation cue-breaking rage in the opponent.

It's a coin flip as to what result we get.

You could add Wilkie to Sossei, Shuff, Corr and Barretta and have another solid team. Round robin???:grin-square:

If there is anything I have learned in tournament watching...if you want to see Luc play, get in your seat early and pay attention immediately. His matches are over while others are at 3-3 in a race to 9. I have missed multiple racks of his matches before just by turning my head and watching another table for 1 rack. He's uncanny.

Watching him play is like watching speed chess and trying to keep up mentally. I just can't.
He's a tough player, makes for a great match, and always a great addition to a tournament.

When's Keith coming up for a Turning Stone? Maybe this January??? (Fingers crossed):grin-square:

Except for the fact they would get smoked

Hoping that it's Shaw and Strickland in the finals. It would be EPIC. Like Vader vs Skywalker.... might get pool on the front page of the newspapers.

Unless it's his robot double, I see Thorsten Hohmann at Turning Stone. Didn't someone say he was confirmed in China for their Open? Or maybe it's a Thorsten impersonator.

Not one of the better TS fields here. Won't get good matches until Sat. It's a shame having all the overlaps. Johnnyt

Dechaine vs dupois next on stream n should be decent at least two known players. Shaw vs souvNthong round 2 would be good idk if that will be streamed but imo they stream events trying to get as many viewers as possible so i don't understand why they're not choosing the best matchups/most popular players/pros every round. Idk I understand the bracket n times n availability all go into choosing who gets on tv table but still I've seen matches(not exclusively by upstateAl I'm talking in general) with bad players and it's completely unwatchable
