Karen Corr is still on the A side of the charts, defeating Tim Parsian, 9 to 4.

At the time of this writing, Jennifer Baretta is on the hill against Jim Conn, 8 to 4.

Also at the time of this writing, Dennis Hatch, who came in second place last August at the Turning Stone, is stuck 5 to 2 against Steve Lillis. Steve is a very slow methodical player, but when he's on, he's a powerhouse and tough to beat. However, don't count The Hatchet out yet. He's just waiting for his chance to get at the table and snatch this win. Steve Lillis is in the driver's seat, though, so time will tell.

Sparky Ferrell defeated AzBilliard's Aaron, 9 to 7. Aaron now goes to the losers' bracket, but the kid is hitting 'em strong. He had Sparky stuck during the first part of the match, 4 to 1. I think Aaron is just coming into his game, and we will be reading about the youngster in the coming months on the IPT tournament trail. He's fresh, hasn't been beat up in pool, and has the right attitude. I like his game a lot.

Mike Howerton and Holly Ryan are in the house, taking notes and snapping quite a few pictures.

We're heading back for the room to get ready for Keith's 4:00 p.m. match against Joe Dipietro.

Ladies can play?

Sure, I expect Karen to do fine. Has anyone noticed where all the weight is in the brackets? DANG!!!! Keith did get a nice draw. But I would say that who ever comes out of bracket 3 alive will more than likely take this thing. Although 4 is pretty strong as well, Thorsten Hohmann will probably take the top bracket, but to make it out of #3 you will have to be in dead ass stroke with a kiss of luck on your side.

LOL

Joey Korsiak a/k/a Joey K. just defeated Shawn Putnam, 9-zip, on the B side of the charts.

Steve Lillis and Dennis Hatch had a hard-fought battle, and Dennis seemed to catch a second wind, running out like a bandit, and then the moment came, that infamous hill-hill, with Dennis Hatch coming out on top and saying in the winners' bracket. Dennis faces Karen Corr next time in the pit.

Veteran Kim Davenport is still in the winners' bracket, winning his round, but Allen Hopkins lost a heart-breaker and will fight his way from the B side of the charts.

Some new troops came in today from Rochester, and after the pool matches are complete, Keith's platoon have a date at the craps table, one more time.

A very nice gentleman from Lake George approached me in the hallway and told me that he represents some leagues in the Lake George, NY area. Last year, they took a vote for their favorite player, and it was Karen Corr. They awarded her a celtic cross as a token of their admiration for her strong play. Well, this year, they all voted Keith in. They are going to award him a money clip with a 9-ball rack and a diamond, and it is engraved with Keith's name. Keith was overwhelmed and taken aback at this wonderful gift. Now if only Keith can win himself a little money to put in that clip, all will be fine.

That's it for now!

JAM,

I noticed the name Mike Imonnen and was wondering if that's a typo or is there really another Immonen out there?

Thanks,
Koop

Great reporting JAM. i've played Joe "little joey" DiPietro many times as his Dad used to own The Cue Corner where I worked years ago, it's now D&D family billiards. Owned by AZ poster thehouseman. Joey is a nice guy, and plays world class when his break is on, and the cueball stays on the table.

Good Luck, G.

wow. Joey K zipped Shawn Putnam. Great updates. Any updates on any action ?

YOU are the BEST, JAM.
REally love those reports.

What happened to Shawn or should I say does JoeyK really play that good? I've never seen JoeyK play but he sure has a great first name.

You have some fun too. Wish I was there and will just have to settle for your most enjoyable reports. Tell Keith that when he gets on the CRAP table and gets ahead to STAY AHEAD. Quit while you are a winner at least for tonight. :-)

Best Wishes for a good tournament.

Joey K's game has really progressed the last yr or so. He beat Archer in Valley Forge last yr (1st time he'd beat Archer). His game has definitely been improving the last two yrs. He's at a point where he's subject to beat any of these guys...not on a consisten basis, yet. If he stays with it, he will be. He's a good kid and I enjoy watching him play.

Not to take away from Joey's game, but I can't help but wonder whats going on with Shawn because while Joey is subject to win sometimes, its hard for me to see him winning 9-0 against Shawn. Shawn has a strong mental game and I've noticed that if he's got something going on behind the scenes, & his mind is on an issue, it can affect his game. I can't help but wonder if he had something worrisome on his mind...

Either way, congrats to both Adam Smith and Joey Korsiak. Beating Shawn is big for them and I'm sure a good confidence booster to help them move forward in the tournament.

JAM,

How is Raj Hundal and Matt Krah doing so far? Please say hi to them for me if you happen to run into them.

MAtt Krah..c'mon, people! He's the one who sent your US Open money home last year BOOOOOOOO MATT!!

Just kidding, Matt is a purely classy dooood, IMO. I saw his forefit, glad to (infer?) read that he did make it up there. I still didn't like to lose to him tho!

Raj just lost to Delicious 9-6. I was shocked because Raj had been hitting them great up that match. Didn't get to watch it so I don't have any real details.

What a tournament this is turning into. The match between Dennis Hatch and Karen Corr had the house standing on their feet, wondering who was going to come out on top. Dennis game out of the gate strong, as Karen sat quietly in her designated chair, but a few fumbles gave Karen the opportunities at the table to score. At one point, she had Dennis stuck, and he was not a happy camper. Between games, he spoke out to the railbirds, in a joking manner, "This is all fun and games, isn't it?," but you could see The Hatchet was taking the heat, especially when Karen got on the hill, with a 2-game lead. After an uncharacteristic miss by the number-two ranked woman in the world, Dennis got his win, remaining on the A side of the charts.

Keith defeated Joe Dipietro. He never made one ball on the break, and the match literally seasawed back and forth. It wasn't a very pretty win, but it was still a win, nonetheless. He faces Gypsy at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, and folks are looking forward to the big show. Gypsy is a large man and one who packs a mean punch. Earlier in the day, he beat a young player named Murphy in one of the fastest races to 9 I've seen in a long time: four 9's on the break and two 9-combos.

While Dennis and Karen were in the heat of battle, the spectators had difficulty deciding which match to follow. Gypsy and Tony Ruberto were in rare form, trading verbal quips and delighting the crowd with their sense of humor. Again, it came down to the hill-hill. Tony had a clean run-out, but choked on the 7-ball. Gypsy couldn't get to the table fast enough and ran the balls out. Tony was devastated, but is still in the tournament and will begin tomorrow in the losers' bracket.

Mika Immonen (not "Mike," Koop ;) ) beat Corey Deuel, 9 to 2, and remains in good position to continue his trek to the winner's circle. I congratulated Mika on his fine win in Europe recently and found out that he won two back-to-back tournaments in the past several weeks. He is on fire and will be the one to watch. Mika enjoys a previous win here at the Turning Stone and looks to be on top of his game.

That's about it, here in Verona. I am so curious to know what's going on at the IPT qualfier and can't wait to read the threads.

Online brackets...

Maybe there was a post about this but I was just curious when the main page will be corrected on this site? I keep trying to check out the online brackets and it sends me to some event down in Florida... Is this happening for everyone?

Thanks in advance!
