Mike Zuglan just e-mailed "regular" Joss Tour attendees about the tragic recent passing of Ted Ferlo who was the Events Manager of the Turning Stone Casino.

Anybody who's been to a tournament at Turning Stone will remember seeing Ted. He was always a hands-on kind of gentleman and made sure everything was running smoothly. He was always dressed to the nines.

What a loss. He was only 47 years old. He leaves a wife and two children.

RIP, Ted!

Here's picture of Ted Ferlo holding the raffle cue which was generously donated by Michael Webb. That's Mike Zuglan on the microphone.

RIP, Teddy! I'm still in shock.:frown:

Wow that is really sad news. My thoughts and prays are with his family.

Ted was so kind to us when we were visiting Turning Stone. Aside from the pool tournament, he always stopped Keith to ask him how he was making out on the table games.

He really had a classy way about going about things. Such a gentleman!

Here he is posing with Keith at one of the tournaments.

Ted Ferlo Has Passed Away

It is with great regret that we must print the news that Ted Ferlo has passed away at the age of 47 from an aneurysm. Ted, the Events Manager at Turning Stone Casino, was a fixture at all of the Turning Stone Classic events and worked closely with Mike Zuglan on all 16 events over ten years. Ted was a very detail oriented manager and he would always come by when we were setting up the AZB streaming equipment and ask if we had everything we needed. If we didn't he would provide for us. Once, when the upload speed was too slow for us he called an IT guy in from vacation to make it right.

After we got on-air he would always come by and again make certain that all was well. And he would make himself available at all hours. He would never go hide in an office. He believed in management by walking around and talking to people. This man will be missed by all who knew him and sorely missed by those of us who depended on him.

Ted is survived by his wife Mary Beth and by his two sons, Sam and Sebastian. Online condolences and funeral information can be found at the Book of Memories for Theodore Ferlo at Barry Funeral Home.

Wow -- that is the second major death in the Turning Stone "family" in the last couple of years, because one of the biggest (at least most visible) tribal supporters died just last year, if I recall correctly.

I don't remember ever meeting this fellow directly myself, but he sure looks young and I am very very sorry to hear this -- especially for his young family.

God Bless

My prayers will be for the family and friends to get through these difficult times. I'm so sad about this, and the reality of his passing is very hard swallow. When I see Ted's pictures with that sparkle in his eye, a beautiful and loving family, it just breaks my heart.

RIP, Ted.

Jen,

Two weeks ago at Hippo's, Ted made a quick stop to drop off the posters and flyers for the next Turning Stone event. As always he was smiling. Spent a moment or two thanking him for his efforts on our behalf. Left thinking of what a lucky guy he was to enjoy his job so much. Mike's e-mail was a shocker. My condolences to his personal family and his extended family at the "Stone" as well. We will miss him!

Such a terrible loss. This is a man whom I would have liked to have known. God bless the family and friends...my very deepest sympathies.....

Ted's son Sam is following his father's footsteps to learn how to bring joy to others.

Read this inspiring article in the New York Times about Ted's son Sam: A Young Clown Follows in a Father’s Giant Footsteps [Retrieved 4 August 2011]

Sam's parents were circus performers when they met 30 years ago; his father was a clown and his mother was a showgirl.
