Not sure about ESPN. Only have a little info about History Channel, though, because Keith spoke to someone last week. :cool:

Everyone better be careful what they wish for. Reality TV is not going to make pool look good. Think more Honey Boo Boo and less Duck Dynasty. They will find the worst possible people to put in front of the camera and then just let them act like as big of fools as they are capable of.

If you subscribe to the any pub is good pub school then it wont matter and I suppose at this point nothing could make it any worse. I just dont know if I could take watching two guys scream at each other over a $100 a game one pocket on my TV set. Hopefully Freddy can steer them towards things that dont look retarded but my guess is they wont be interested in those.

Is that what's best for pool? Well... I think it's the best thing that will actually happen for pool. Nobody seems to get it that pool on a high level is boring unless you're SUPER into pool. There are a lot of smart, dedicated people trying to figure out what will attract the mainstream public, and make a successful presentation, 'reality' or otherwise !..We all think pool has a lot to offer, in the way of gambling mystique, and colorful character's.....While that may be true, please tell me why the major attractions these days, are people like Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, and his ditzy air headed girlfriend, Kim K. (whose entire no-talent family, are making millions).. As far as I can tell, her only claim to fame, is one of her boyfriends released a video of her, giving him a BJ..Figure that one out ???

They are making millions, while people with REAL talent, are starving to death !..Its always been that way, and no one can ever tell for sure, what will attract a fickle public's fancy ? Its CRAZY !..If it were easy to figure out, everyone in the entertainment business, would be wealthy and successful..Fats was wrong, in Hollywood, you CAN put whipped cream on
a hot dog, and make it work !..All it takes is a ton of luck, and MAJOR promotional [sic] skills !...Look at Justin Bieber and Paris Hilton, (another porn star)..and a kid who pisses in laundry buckets, and gets arrested daily....I rest my case ! :confused:

The reality is that movies spark trends even now. So while it's possible that we will never see another pool movie spark another boom it's also a fact that IF a movie is very popular then it does motivate people to do whatever activity is being portrayed.

I am next to Jeanette's booth. The way people talk about her and their POSITIVE experiences, their reverence for her skill and showmanship and the good times they have had playing her in exhibitions is actually refreshing and uplifting. Makes me wonder what it would be like if MORE pros would study and copy Jeanette's way of doing things.

It's not just Jeannette. It's most all of the women. They have had great leadership and they've FOLLOWED that leadership. They have had to fight for their fan base. They treat them with fun and conversation. Here in Charlotte last week Kelly was at the APA tournament signing and taking challenges. Even losing a few. All the players love to see her. They talk about her with reverence.

1) Phil Mickelson hitting the 200 yard fader across water, two feet from the pin, under great pressure for the win.

2) A pool player, jacked up on his drug of choice, yelling obscenities at an opponent in an attempt to make a game. Then, when the dog gets the game he takes a dump.

I honestly like option 2 better but, I came up from the bottom like most people drawn to the game today. I do know that this image has to die for pools destiny to change.

I'm not sure that I really want it to change. The crap going down at the pool hall is very entertaining to someone that is thick skinned like myself.

They interviewed me for about 15-20 minutes, mostly about pool hustling, past and present. Two very intelligent young men who have worked previously for ESPN. They are working on a documentary about the evolution of the game, or so I am told. Whether it will ever air is the question.

ESPN's Grantland web-based magazine was there (David Hill) interviewing people. I also saw him interviewing you!

I used to tell teenagers "I've got ties older than you" until I realized they don't know what a tie is.

I've got my fingers crossed that some of the filming will be aired at some point. Nice to get some publicity -- good or bad.
