U.S. Open Finals Predictions: SVB vs. Dennis Orcollo

SVB is looking for an unprecedented 3rd straight U.S. Open title.

Dennis has looked unbeatable so far today with dominating wins over Mile Dechaine, 11-2, and Nick the Greek, 11-3.

I believe the finals format is a race to 13, win by 2, capped at 15 (so 14-14 is hill-hill). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

So, who will win and what will be the final score?

One thing for sure, I don't think either one of them will roll over the other one. This will be a bloody battle to the finish.

That said, I am ashamed to be an American pool ethusiast after reading that there are, once again, payout problems at the 39th U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship.

American pool is the laughing stock of the world. After Bonus Ball and IPT and now this. :sorry:

To tell you the truth, I don't even feel like watching the finals of the Open now. I am very ashamed of this sham of a tournament. :(

Entering today, I reckoned that Shane's threepeat was all but assured.

.... but it would seem Dennis has caught a stroke today in the dismantling of Mike and Nick.

I see a good one coming here, and I'll pick Shane by 13-11.

Good luck to these worthy finalists.

 I give the edge to SVB but if there is one player capable of upsetting him, it is Dennis. He just demolished 3 great players (Kiamco, Dechaine and Nick) with scores of 11-4, 11-2 and 11-3 repectively without much trouble. I believe it will be an epic finals and we are in for a treat.

Last night, I thought SVB will be the heavy favorite, but seeing Dennis' performance this afternoon against Nick, I think it will be much closer than expected. He looked like a man on a mission.

Since this is a sanctioned event by the WPA, they should either pull their sanctioning for future events or give out a fine.

Has Dennis beat Shane in a tournament or TAR match in the last two years? I'm pretty sure Shane has a great record against Dennis.

Shane won against Dennis in US Open finals in 2012.

This will be the same, Shane has history to make here......
SVB 13 Orcollo 9

Seem to recall Dennis beating Shane in the Derby City 10-ball in 2012 and also in the final of the Derby City 9-ball in 2011.

Shane's definitely had the better of the rivalry since.

'Shane just put him on the loser's side last night with an 11-5 win.

Jaden

shane's safety play has been asian-esque

a couple of those spots he put dennis in last night were masterclass safety, that was the last piece missing in his game and he has that now

May have been more than 2 years ago- but Dennis beat Shane in a TAR match (combination event of 1 pocket, 8 ball, 10 ball) and has beat him at Hard Times before I think more than once

The only player who can really play Shane is Dennis.

The only player who can really play Dennis is Shane.

The results? A great-ass finals for us to watch!!!

Don't forget Ko Pin Yi, who has gotten the better of Shane in 2014.

Of course, though, you're right --- what a final!

I like Dennis coming in from the loser's bracket.

Dennis 13-8 over SVB.

Dennis has certainly looked like he is on a mission today. I'm sure he would love to be the one that stops SVB from three-peating.

Here's hoping it's a great finals!
