Since I posted the original list, I'll contibute my two cents.

When I post stuff on other forums (unrelated to pool) that I have found wandering on the web, I do not post the source. I do point out that I swiped it, that I am not the creator.

The poster on Inside Pool did exactly what I do.

The very nature of the web means that anything found there can be appropriated. To be outraged when it happens is ridiculous.

I have been collecting youtube links since I first became aware that snooker and pool clips were available. I did it first for myself, second to e-mail to the pigeons I play. At the same time, since it only takes opening a new thread and clicking 'Paste', I also post here.

I post to do my bit to provide grist for the mill, to repay in some small way those of you who have enlightened me.

Others took the time to upload the clips to youtube. Undoubtedly, they would prefer that their efforts be viewed rather than ignored. They may not continue to post if they have few viewers. That is not in the interest of either thee or me.

Therefore, post lists of clips far and wide.:D

I can't believe you are letting IP off the hook that easily. There has to be some kind of civil suit for plagiarism in the works.;)

Many of us enjoy the links you post, with or without the drama.:)
 
And John Barton goes to the floor with a double dropkick to the head - he may not recover from this one.

Wait there is life there. He's trying to get up - unbelievable that he would even try after a crushing blow like that.

Scaramouche - the nature of the internet is not such that everything found there can be appropriated. There have been many cases which hve proved that CONTENT on the net is protected intellectual property.

Me, I wasn't outraged at the content borrowing. I was just perturbed by the way it was done. I only became outraged when it was condoned.

I knew that YOU probably had no problem with it. So what? That wasn't the point. The point was and is that it's crappy to repost content without giving credit as to where it came from - and that is whether the author minds or not. And it's even crappier to ask that more of it be done.

And with that, John Barton drops to floor, his energy all gone, all of his attempts to emerge victorious were smashed by the onslaught of Jim Brennan's stable of stone cold killas - will he survive to fight another day? Time will tell.

That's not true. You pissed people off by calling them thieves for watching free and available content on youtube - :confused: - we didn't put it there - get off our asses. The cherry on top of the cake was when you called Pat Fleming like you were a 3rd grade hall monitor flaunting your authority. That's how I saw it. That's how others saw it too. Your accusatory tone towards myself and others was backed by your lack of education on the subject, therefore you ended up looking stupid more than you looked intelligent. You are still going on and on about this issue long after the rest of us have put it to rest.

It's comical that you are now trying to paint yourself as a martyr for the rights of those that own copyrighted content when all you were doing was making a fuss to grab attention for yourself. Are you really that starved for attention? Any normal person would have already moved on with their life by now. Are you trying to earn brownie points with the folks at accustats? At whose expense, yours or mine? I think most of us have already figured out your answers to those questions. Get a life. :rolleyes:

No other country has as many lawyers- both amateur and professional :D - per square inch as the U.S.A And not all countries approach the web in the same way. When Napster was in its glory days at least one country addressed the problem by putting a surcharge on all blank media sold and distributing the money in a way similar to royalties from radio play.

If copyright holders have had their rights unacceptably infringed by posts on youtube and give notification, the links will no longer work; you will reach a page informing you that the video has been removed.
 
I tried

to get overflying jets to announce they were passing through my residence airspace, but they just said it was just gray space to them.
 
I don't understand what the big deal is. I watched a few of those Friday
morning, as it was slow at work and they had commercials for products just like when they used to show the U.S.Open on the local Cable sports network. It looked to me like BCN posted them, and that is perfectly legal for them to do.:)

But if you guys want to fight, here is a UFC girl to help with that.:D

I think blackjack pretty much nailed it perfectly. I can't hate Russ too much because he has good intentions, but what's the point of ramming anti-piracy crap into every thread?

Even when he's posting about something else, he's still passively confrontating people with that childish 'stealing is bad' user title. It's like he can't stand to have 'lost' any forum debate so he'll make it his personal crusade to wear the rest of us down until everyone rolls over and shows their belly. Meanwhile we can't enjoy half the threads on the board because we're always playing defense against him.

Seriously Russ, remove the stick from your ass. If you can't take the high road and allow that other people maybe have valid points, at least take the middle road and shut up about it. You have intelligent stuff to say sometimes but it gets drowned out by the shrill "KILL THE THIEVES!" jihad. Don't be that guy who's stuck on one issue the rest of his life.

PS: double thanks to Scar for both the videos and the 10,000 entertaining threads they spawned :P I just felt I had to credit him.

lol thanks scott... that site rocks. It's funny how it applies to any forum on any subject.

I think indentured servants was meant as a troll grenade or something? Or maybe he meant something wack like: the link posting is better than using slaves, and even respected american presidents have used slaves, so link posting doesn't make us any worse than certain well-respected american presidents. Roffles?

I don't think there is anything wrong with you user title or a lot of the things that you say. All I see is a constant cry (need) for attention so you do little things that you know people will react to and then try and play dumb about it. JMHO No offense meant - just my observation.

I've had some coffee and some Jack Daniels (for medicinal purposes only)re-read some of the threads and in my current state, I think Lee Tolbert might have been taking a shot at John Collins Barton about having his products made overseas......

Russ, you said earlier that you don't see any reason you and blackjack have to be at each other's throats, right?

But your user title is kind of confrontational towards the people who argued with you in that thread. Every time you post, there's that pissy little user title reminding us that you called a bunch of perfectly respectable people, including blackjack, thieves. I believe the scientific term for it is "passive aggressive bullshít" =)

If you truly want to get along with Blackjack or other "intellectual property thieves" (which could probably apply to half the people on the internet) then you ought to think about changing it. It doesn't make people think "wow, russ has really strong principles about this piracy stuff", it just makes them think "wow, russ sure is an ass because he can't let go after losing a silly forum debate".
