To me, this is The Most Desirable Cue in The World - 101%.

Congratulations for possessing it - although Burton's earlier works are superb as well (take a look at this Model 34 from '78) - but his last cues look so clean, it's scary.

Should you EVER chalk it up and try it out... please let us know how you feel :o

I see that you are from Spain, but as far as I know it was his name, it's as simple as that.

I have started a thread regarding Burton Spain on this board, here you may see it and - hopefully - you can read and learn more about Burton there.

He has written two books/booklets, one contains his personal notes and other pool and non pool related writings. The other booklet is about his works, full splice cue construction and he writes very interesting things about other cue makers.

Burton Spain has built hundreds of pool cue blanks for George Balabushka (approx. 500 to 600) and has taught Joel Hercek - one of the most respected cue makers of our time. [you may read about Burton on Joel's site as well, just look around there]

Burton has perfected full splice cues, he came up with the double-splice idea which has led to better balanced and weighted full splice cues built using ebony and maybe other heavier woods.

He came up with many interesting designs and ideas throughout his nearly 30 years that he has spent on and off with cue making (from 1965 to 1994)

Finding a perfect condition, unplayed Spain cue is extremely difficult and such a cue would be one of the most treasured pieces of any collection.

That's a great cue. I think 14/92 was the first numbered and dated cue, making this the 17th cue Burton made that year.

Great signed, dated, limited, unplayed Burton Spain moon cue. That's a nice investment quality historical cue.

Thanks for showing Steve

Kevin

PS: Here's the cue Buton built 7 cues before yours (24/92):

hey

This cue is probably one of the first 5 cues I bought when I started collecting.
I bought this one and one other Burton at the same time. I have had them both stored in a case locked up since I believe 1992. Like an idiot I sold the other very plain one about 4-5 years ago...wish I had it back.

The cue is amazing in that the colors and signature havent faded at all, it still looks brand new.

About 3 months after buying this one I was lucky enough to get a Burton EOL#4 directly from Burton. He told me he had one left and it was mine if I wanted it......LOL I told him he would have the money the next morning.

I will post pics of that soon being there were only 6 originally and then I believe he added 4 more...so ten total

Steve,

The info you shared about his EOL cues has shed light on something I wanted to ask since a long time - I thought that he built only 6 of them but I know for sure that I have seen another numbered number 7 maybe (and so I was confused).

Well, I wish I had been into cues at the age of 4, that I had spoken English and that I had internet access - or if I all of these were true and I was born in Chicago. If all these were true, that EOL would be here with me right now :)

With the reality being somewhat different, I must say that I am glad that the cue is in your possession and I have my fingers crossed for you showing that cue here, on this board.

Yours,
David

I'm working from (dim foggy) memory here but I think Burton built the first 6 EOL cues w/ Joel watching and assisting, and Joel built the next 4 (?) with Burton watching and assisting. The passing of the torch takes place right in the series.
