Unity cues!

should they tell who they are?

Hierovision, Eric., mia, and runscott,

The more you post, the more you prove my point.

You've all publicly stated you have no intent to buy, yet you continue with mean-spirited posts in an effort to make sure no one else gives them any business either.

There is no Discussion here. Just the same four posters trying to make RUMORS read as real, and OPINIONS read as facts.

We all know that if you did this in the For Sale forum you'd get banned, that's why you're knocking them here in the Main Forum.

It must be a slow news day at your other hangout.

Only if your point is that you are feeble-minded. Seriously, we all have read your posts and we know that you're all about getting up on a pedestal so people will look at you.

Well, I've got bad news for you: people ARE looking at you.

Hierovision, Eric., mia, and runscott,

Hmmmm ... this is a poll thread. Currently there about 65% of the votes for "yes we should know who builds them!". And there are a lot of voters, WAY more than 4, and more than most polls here on AZ imo. Perhaps you should consider that point mnb.

Let me try to understand this properly. You condone keeping silent when something questionable occurs? Regardless of whether we know who Unity is or not, they're making a claim that their cuemakers are well-known, and that we should buy their product based on that claim. We shouldn't bother asking for proof, we should keep our mouths shut unless we feel like praising them, in which case it's OK.

Welcome to dissent.

Hierovision, Eric., mia, and runscott,

Dude, at this point, the more YOU post, the more foolish you sound. Honestly, I'm still sitting here scratching my head and asking myself "Is this guy serious?? Can he really not see how foolish he sounds????"

You've all publicly stated you have no intent to buy, yet you continue with mean-spirited posts in an effort to make sure no one else gives them any business either.

I made the statement that I have no intentions of buying based on the idea that I didn't know what I was getting into. Seriously. The whole 'masked magician' routine is silly. If you're selling something based on its performance and the pedigree of its maker, one needs to know who that maker is so they can GAUGE the performance. Get it????

Now that I know who the masked magicians are, I feel better having saved my money. But remember... this thread asked for opinions. So I gave mine. If you don't like my opinions or any opinion that differs from yours, I suggest steering clear of threads with the little 'poll' icon next to them. There was nothing here that I said that was 'mean spirited'. I don't know the alleged cuemakers on a personal level at all. I just know the cues as made by 1 of them. And they're not for me. Thats not an insult to him in ANY way. Tons of people love his cues. Hit is a very subjective thing. What works for you may not for me. Take pool out of the picture for a second because that's just a fact of life, buddy. For all I know the cuemakers are saints! Maybe they had the best of intentions. Who knows. I just know how it seems to me and a LOT of other people here. Still, I haven't said a bad thing about them. And I have NEVER tried to steer people away from them. If they want Unity Cues... more power to 'em! Go nuts! I'll play with something else. That's ok, right?

There is no Discussion here. Just the same four posters trying to make RUMORS read as real, and OPINIONS read as facts.

Once again, I didn't start this thread. I didn't out anybody. I didn't mention a single name. Do I know who the cuemakers are? Yep. Did I say at any point "Its this guy and this guy". No. I'm not trying to make ANYTHING read as fact except for my opinion on whether the identities should be kept secret or not which (might I remind you) is what the point of this thread was.

We all know that if you did this in the For Sale forum you'd get banned, that's why you're knocking them here in the Main Forum..

Mr. Wilson is a mod here as well as in the Wanted/For Sale section. I don't see why he would grant a little more latitude in one section over another. My guess is that Dave and Mike haven't banned anyone because... no one did anything worthy of a ban. Or even a warning. Jeff Duke asked for opinions (within the rules) and opinions are what he got (within the rules). I never said a bad thing about the alleged cuemakers. I commented solely on the business practice and marketing technique.

It must be a slow news day at your other hangout.

Wow. This was a LOOOONG way to go just to mount some kind of half-a$$ed offensive against people who post on another site. Kinda lame dude. Really.

Who is Jim Pierce?
Why wouldn't they just say who they are? I guess I just don't understand the secrecy.

Koop - out of the loop

can't think of good, positive reasons why the makers are under the radar, however, there are many negative reasons which can be motivating factors

imo consumers, if given a choice, will be more cynical than trusting

oh well, carry-on...

I guess this is where I was going too.
I mean, if you are a reputable builder who builds a great cue wouldn't you tout the fact that it's you so people will know?
Not saying this is the case but, it appears that by hiding the names, it's not above board.

I can't wait for one of those cartoony things made on the internet about this...

The makers may fear that if people know they can get a Messrs. XY cue for $350, they might not want to pay considerably more for a Mr. X cue or a Mr. Y cue. I think this is potentially flawed logic. Did Tim Scruggs sell fewer fancy cues because he also sold sneaky petes? Or did he benefit by attracting some customers at the lower price level who later, or even at the same time, also purchased fancier cues?

I have a funny feeling about the time you GUYS get done beating up the unknow Cuemakers who build the Unity Cues, the BRAND NAME will go away and many will be mad & cry BOO HOO.

beause they missed out on a chance to buy a nice American Made Cue at a FAIR PRICE. JMHO!

what the hell is "gusy"???

If one of the cuemakers is Jim Pierce, please explain to me how he qualifies as a "well known" American cuemaker. I've never heard of him other than AZ, and even on here I hadn't heard of him before October of 2010.

I've been making cues since 1999 and my cues have been selling on AzBilliards since 2007. If you had been more active in the Wanted/For Sale section, Cue Gallery, Vegas BCA, Valley Forge, etc you would have seen my work. I have sold cues to all parts of the world.

I will be at Valley Forge this year if you would like test out my cues and talk to me in person. So start saving your money just in case you end up buying one.

Are you, runscott and mia going to carpool over there?

So what about their current customers? What are they waiting for?

Where are you getting your info that my customers are not being taken care of?

Is this an admission that you are one of the cue builders for unity? If you don't want to answer here, please feel free to pm me. I've seen your work and was very impressed.

Obviously you are not the guy sending me incoherent PM's from the Unity i.d. - he could not have strung together this many words to make a sentence. As I stated previously, I hope he is NOT anyone who participates on this board.

As far as the three of us car-pooling, I would certainly enjoy that if possible - they are both good guys.
