unknown cue on Ebay Fellini case and Paradise?

Don't unscrew but screw. All those plastic rings and buttcap will move on you and never be flush to one another again. Trust me it's a nightmare sir.

If you bought the cue using a credit card to fund paypal just call credit card company to start a chargeback. That cue is no worth anywhere near what you paid.

The 1cm sized shallow dimples under the wrap seem very strange has anyone ever seen this before?

The blue book list Paul Rubino as the expert for this era of cues. Is this still the case? If not who if anyone would be most capable of identifying this cue?
 
Looking at this with your close ups, why don't you take some good pics of the full forearm prongs and send them to Joel Hercek and asks if he recognizes them. joel@hercek.com

This is a very interesting forearm. I thought it was a Balner from the crappy ebay pics, but now the veneers colors and miters and so forth make me wonder if it's something else. The way the ferules are assembled or mounted are also interesting. It's an unusual cue for sure. The forearm prongs look like they are very well made.

I know very little about Palmer cues, but I've seen quite a few over the years and the first thing I thought when I saw the pictures was "Palmer or Palmer related". My first impression of the forearm was Titlist points too. The colors of the veneers are a bit off, but the cut and look reminds me of my two Titlists cues.

I don't know why I thought that, but now seeing all the discussions I can see quite a bit of confusion over it.

Will be interesting to follow this thread to find out, hopefully.

gene or frank didnt make that cue. they made many cues for me. they didnt use those parts. probably one of the new york makers.

It looks like Chris had some good info on AZ, it very well could be a Balner. Sorry I couldn't be any help here."
 
I like an Old School cue just as much as the next guy but....don't think i would spend that much on a "wonder who made this" cue? but that's just me......

If you decide to replace the wrap, by all means show pics with the wrap removed.

This actually is a standard early Titlist, which may have used real purpleheart or dyed outer veneer and a lightly dyed inner green veneer, with natural and other dark hardwood. The colors fade due to UV light.

Your cue has dyed veneers. What you should be looking for is a 1960's era cue that has the same color sequence as your cue. The color sequence is a little unusual.

If you decide to take the wrap off, the way the veneers are mitered at the handle side may show us what we need to know.

pictures without wrap

It was like swiss cheese under the wrap the holes are filled with a non-magnetic metallic looking substance some have a dark resin glue or maybe ebony wood covering hole. Balance point of cue is two inches above the wrap.

If you're restoring this cue, I hope you made a pattern showing the lengths/sections of the multi-stage wrap.

Ok, so it's definitely not a Palmer shop made blank. Joel says it's not a Spain but I can't think of anybody else who was making this sort of full spliced veneered cue at that time besides Brunswick. Could be the cue is a conversion of an older pointed blank, possibly a 26 1/2 Brunswick or it could be another brand I am not familiar with. The forearm is well made. Getting those inside points to line up like that is no easy trick. The cue was probably made in the 1960's (Delrin butt dates it) but the blank looks older.

Possible Paradise?

I don't know who built the forearm, but could it be made from the same source as this Paradise cue that was sold back in March of 2012 on eBay? Granted the veneers are placed in a different sequence but the colors look the same.
